    Wow what a price hike!!

Straps 1 & 2 increased price from $350 to $480 with no communication/justification, changes in course length, or ratio of students to instructors. Deeply disappointing

I have mixed feelings about this place, since my experience here seems to to vary so much depending on the day and who's around. Well, firstly, Circus Center is more of a school rather than a studio, so don't expect everything here to be super shiny and new like at some other studios around SF. It's clean enough, so I'm not complaining or anything, just wanted to mention it so it's not a surprise later when you get a waft of sweat. Also, don't get it confused with AcroSports which is just down the street in an almost identical building. Inner sunset isn't too close for those of us who come from downtown or something, but it's not too hard to get to. It's easy to hop on the N (muni) to get there. I don't have a car, so I'm unsure of the parking situation, but since it's mainly residential it probably isn't too bad. There are people here of all ages (they have classes for kids and adults!) and skills levels. I come here as a beginner and a drop-in student at that, but there are usually people around who are seriously practicing for performances and other stuff. Not to mention a lot of different skills! There's flying trapeze, acrobatics, Chinese pole, parkour, tissu / aerial silks, lyra / aerial hoop, corde lisse / aerial rope, static trapeze, etc. Definitely look at the full schedule if you want to see what else they have around. The staff and students here vary. Like I mentioned, I'm mainly a drop-in student (although I have done one full session too :D) To be honest, sometimes everyone is great from the time you walk in, throughout the class, then when you walk out after class. Sometimes they are super friendly and social, but other times they are more focused on efficiency and getting to work - it's a school after all, so they don't always walk you through things step by step if that's what you're always expecting. Just saying... Bonus: It's on a ClassPass and also has an intro package, which is great if you want to get little tastes of things. BUT the classes (ClassPass and even regular classes) tend to fill up fast so plan ahead if there's something you want to try that might be in high demand with the students. The limited classes are both a pro and con since it's hard to get in, but once you're in, it's nice to have the individualized attention

Fancy stretching at Circus Center with Xiaohong!

I've been taking Acrobatics classes from Xiaohong for over five years. He is the real deal. He pushes me to my limit and spots me like a pro, so I never feel unsafe. There's really no workout quite like his Intro to Acro class, that must be experienced to appreciate. He's been teaching for over 20 years and performing his whole life. His peppy attitude and ability to make the class accessible for everyone is a rare skill to come by. He teaches advanced students but also is patient with beginners. Highly recommend!

    Intermediate Contortion

Great classes for all ages, levels, and large variety of classes. Clean, friendly, inclusive community of students, teachers, and staff. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn a new skill, sharpen to deepen their practice or try something new.

    Crushing so hard.

It's a vibrant, inclusive home for creativity, growth, and community. Located in the heart of San Francisco, NCTC's mission to support artists, youth, and the queer and allied communities isn't just words on a wall--it's felt in every class, every conversation, and every corner of this beautiful space. I recently completed their Adult Scene Study class with the incomparable Jeffery Draper, and I can honestly say it was one of the most enriching and inspiring experiences of my adult life. Whether you're just stepping into acting or sharpening your skills, this class offers a fun, supportive environment where you can take bold risks, discover new layers of your craft, and connect with other passionate creatives. Each week, we explored character, motivation, and storytelling in ways that were both challenging and rewarding. Jeffery's direction was equal parts insightful and encouraging, he meets you where you are and helps you rise. The space itself is warm, professional, and beautifully maintained, from the intimate black box theater to the cozy lobby and rehearsal rooms. If you're looking for a place to grow as an artist, to be seen and supported, or just to try something new in a welcoming environment, run to NCTC. Their adult drama classes are exceptional, and the community they've built is something truly special.

I went to see a show " Italiani Veri "  last night. Fabulous cabaret-type show with performer Arianna. She's a true (veri) Italian from Milan who sang, danced and explained Italian culture as part of the entertainment. She has an amazing voice! She could have been a finalist at the San Remo Music Festival - the most famous singing festival in Italy. She fessed up saying she had been an Italian Mouseketeer! The venue has a bar/lounge to enjoy cocktails then a few steps down further is the theater. You need to be mobile since there are a lot of steps. Seating is first come-first serve. I have to admit that seating is quite tight. You are shoulder to shoulder with your neighbors. Get cozy folks. They typically have magic shows here! If you want to see a historic night club, this would be the venue to come to and enjoy a show. Italiani Veri show was a real treat! Highly recommend it!

Ambiance - After getting your tickets from the ticket booth, you go down a sharp flight of stairs which dumps you out into a bar area with two large doors on both sides of the room. The room on the right-hand side is where they have stand-up comedy (Cheaper than Therapy), and the left hand side is where the Improv show takes place. You wait in the bar area until the doors open. Once you enter, there are a handful of rows of chairs (barstool style with backs) and it's general admission. It's a pretty cozy area, maybe fitting around 50 people or so if I had to guess. Before the show, one of the improv team members came around offering Oreos to guests. We did not partake, but if you like Oreos you're in for a treat. The show itself was great. There were four improv comedians and they took a bunch of crowd suggestions and tailor-made a show based around our suggestions. The show itself is about an hour and a half, but didn't feel like it was that long at all. When it ended, I was shocked that an hour and a half had passed already. Time truly does fly when you're having a great time! I would definitely return again as we had a blast and really enjoyed the quick wit the improv team had to offer. I would highly recommend checking them out!

Turns out that everyone had to stand in this will-call line to get physical tickets even though they were purchased online. Seemed odd, however, show up early to avoid the line and enjoy the scenic vibe around before the show. There's free parking (after 4P I believe) super close to the theater-- literally steps. We had to lock up our phones in a pouch for this specific event but it's so beautiful indoors as well. They had a bar area that many people enjoyed. Bathrooms are a bit crammed but nothing new to venues. It's a more intimate venue. It reminds me of a large college class room. Each seat seems like a great view, even last row. We found our seats easily, space between seats are more spacious than other places, no cup holders sucks but you can put your drink under the seat if needed. Demetri was able to engage with the audience in ways that aren't typically possible in a larger venue (like the Masonic). Note that the venue can be hard to find, especially if the event was advertised as being at the "Palace of Fine Arts." The Theater is around the corner, and there are very limited signs. Like many reviewers, we spent time wandering around trying to find the entrance. It is on the west side of the venue, not near the famous dome. If you're driving/Ubering, be sure to enter the destination as the Theater, and not just the Palace of Fine Arts, as the entrance are on opposite sides of the property. There is very limited food and drink offered, and you're not allowed to bring any food into the auditorium (covered drinks are allowed). This was a bit of an inconvenience for a show running 7-9pm right during dinner time. We were hoping for at least some popcorn for during the show. Bathrooms are small and awkwardly laid out, leading to long lines, confusing, and tight spaces. This is made worse by the fact that each row is ~50 seats across with the only aisles on the ends - this makes it very hard for anyone not seated on the very ends to leave during the show to go to the restroom. As a result, there was a massive rush to the restroom after the show and a 20 minute wait for the men's restroom (I shudder to think how long the women's line was.
