The person I needed to talk to was never in and I was always promised a phone call back. I never got a call. Maybe they're short staffed or have turnover? I figured it would be better to go in person to learn more about programs and services at NSCC. I went once by myself. Another time I brought my sister and yet a third time I brought my mother. We walked around the facility in the afternoon. It's nice, clean and spacious. Unfortunately, every time we went to the reception area/desk, we were told that the person we needed to talk to was not in. I gave them my info and was promised a call. I again, never received that call. My family has lived in Northfield for over 55 years. It's unfortunate that we couldn't connect with anyone from the local senior center, in person or over the phone. It would have been nice to have engaged in some sort of programming. Maybe there was something my dad could have enjoyed. He has since passed away.

After scheduling and paying deposit for the pool party and confirming we have 1 hour set up and 1 hour post party to clean up, we tried to contact the Harrer pool coordinator for room specs, table number, size, chairs and equipment availability so we know what we needed to buy or not buy..table covers wall decor and such. Nothing. Emails and phone calls not returned. Was contacted 2 days prior to party by the new coordinator only to be asked about the cake. Coordinator told my daughter, the birthday celebrant's mom, we had to be out of the room exactly at noon. We were pushed out at 1145.. why? They had their own party to go to. Will never opt for a party space that NEEDS to have a coordinator on site. Have used the field houses for parties before and will continue to use them again. OR will rent Oriole Pool party room and instead (as long as that particular "party planner" is NOT part of the deal) So terribly disappointed.

The older woman that looks to head this "open" volleyball seems to pick and choose when she would like others to take part. My friends and I have slowly started to participate in the open volleyball here, but have noticed that her attitude towards us participating is not very kind. We come from different suburbs in the Chicagoland area - not exactly close. But we're turned away because she felt that they couldn't let one more team play (even though other players told us we were welcome). Third week in a row we were given attitude while trying to take part in "open" volleyball. I would suggest MG park district try to come up with a sign up sheet or better method of signing up to partake in "open" volleyball. Because if I have to travel from far to only be told I cannot play, it should not be called "open" volleyball. We would have made other arrangements to play had we known we would be told we cannot play there. Instead we wasted 45 mins trying to arrange another court to play. Unprofessional and rude.

The Wilmette Community Recreation center houses 2 modern playgrounds, a preschool, tennis courts,…read morebaseball fields, state of the art gym facilities for adults and little ones, and a variety of indoor and outdoor extracurricular activities for all ages. The indoor facilities and the outdoor grounds are all very well maintained. The large playground was rebuilt last year and is one of the nicest ones in the North shore area. The small playground (which is part of the preschool) is fully fenced and has a splash pad that operates during the summer months. There is an outdoor walking path that loops around the entire Rec center and an indoor running path at the fitness center. There is also a state of the art gymnastics facility for toddlers to big kids. Overall, this is an excellent recreation center that is very well maintained and has just about everything. The only negative aspect of this center is that the playgrounds can get too crowded when all the kiddos from the preschool, summer camps, and enrichment programs all come out to play. Otherwise, very highly recommended.

Here they run a variety of activities for children as well as adults and seniors. Almost any activity you can think of including sports, fitness, dance, theater, gymnastic and art are offered here. They are always adding new things that are popular. My son just started a video game design class which is really up his alley. During holidays and throughout the year they put on special events for families to enjoy. They run a very good preschool which is one of the most affordable in the area, but make sure you book it early because it fills up fast. The quarterly book that they send to the residents is huge and nicely laid out with programs. You can register for classes with ease online or there. Not only that, but the staff are all very helpful. If there was ever a time when we were not completely satisfied or were suddenly unable to attend, we were refunded our money and never given a hard time. Anyone can sign up for the activities here, however it is just less expensive if you are a resident. What I love the most is the convenience of everything being in one location, so I'm not running all over the place. I also like how many options there are. We are always trying something new and fun. They put on the cutest theater productions and tickets are not expensive. The rec center has alot to offer so check it out for yourself!

We had done quite a bit…read moreof research and looked at three or four other communities in the region that were nice, but we ultimately chose Chestnut for a variety of reasons. First and foremost were the staff and residents. They were all some of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met. Not only were they warm and friendly but extremely helpful and very competent, as well as accommodating. The food was excellent, and the entire building was very clean, well-maintained, and quite attractive. There was plenty of programming and amenities both at Chestnut Square, as well as a short walk away in The Glen Town Center. Just across the street is a beautiful natural area with paved paths, a lake, shops, and plenty of places to explore. During her time at Chestnut Square, Sandra made many close friends and even developed a wonderful, close, and fulfilling romantic relationship with another resident who lived down the hall. The most important thing, however, was the dedication the staff had toward the happiness and fulfillment of all the residents. It really showed how happy everyone was in the community. Pretty amazing! When Sandra's health declined and she needed more assistance, Chestnut Square was able to provide additional on-site support through its phenomenal sister affiliate, Partners in Healthcare. The caregivers from Partners treated her and her loved ones like they were their own family. This was all available in Sandra's original apartment with a very thoughtful aging-in-place model, so she wouldn't need to transfer to another floor or facility. The care was exceptional, providing her with warmth, dignity, and respect. It comes as no surprise that Chestnut Square (a non-profit organization) is driven by their dedication to residents as well as staff--who all seem to really enjoy working there. Our entire experience with Chestnut Square was wonderful and provided the whole family with tremendous peace of mind!

I am so glad i chose to move her when i did. I have progressed to needing a walker and 12hrs a day private caregivers. Both are accommodated enthusiastically here. I know that this residential community has extended my life actively. The activity calendar offers something for mind, body, and spirit every day. Location is the best with shopping and medical care within a mile or two. The decor and residential suburban settings is superb. As is the residence itself. If you need it come join our club. (Sorry to break your 5-star streak, Sylvie!) The cost is reasonable, and the shift hours are more flexible than other home help agencies. Sylvie was always responsive to any question or concern. When I contacted her with an urgent need for 24-hour care on short notice, she made a herculean effort to fill all the time slots, and came through for us. The agency seems to be highly selective in the caregivers they choose. Not only were the helpers generally more experienced than one finds in other agencies, they also appeared to be well-trained, resourceful, and highly intelligent. My mother has a long history of hostility toward home caregivers, and she did not like all of these caregivers either (although she did click with one of them, and there were a few others she probably could have come to like, given more time). However, I found all of them extremely kind, competent, and capable. My only issue was that some of them did leave a bit of a mess behind and disturbed my mom's impeccable arrangements of linens and other belongings somewhat. A minor matter, and partly my fault, for not leaving better instructions on how to find what they needed. Highly recommended.
