Went in on the Monday before Christmas at about noon. No one in line ahead of me. One teller working. There were a few others working in accounts/loan area. Only one was with a customer. I waited in line for about 15 minutes. 3 or 4 other customers are now in line behind me. At other branches, someone would come over from accounts/loans to see if they could assist someone in line. But not here. Not on this day. One lady behind me got out of line and left. When I finally got called to the teller, she had to leave the window to get more cash for my withdrawal. She was gone almost 10 minutes. If this is Citibank's way of encouraging customers to use CashApp or Venmo to give Christmas money gifts, this is the way to do it. read more

Citibank closed my account when I went into the branch to make a wire transfer for an investment. There is about $160,000 in the account. They refuse to disburse a cashier's check to me now at the branch for the funds that were in the account. They are now saying I have to wait for a check to come in the mail, with an unknown time frame for when the check may arrive. I just sold my car this morning for $19,000, and I just deposited this check at the Citibank branch before trying to make the wire transfer. I now have zero access to the money that I just sold the car for, and zero access to any funds that were in my checking account, for an indefinite amount of time. The banker, German Amoya, has repeatedly stated that there is nothing the branch can do, that the "back office" has made the decision and it is final. read more

I've been a loyal citi bank customer for a few years now...I went into the bank for a withdrawal that I couldn't do in the atm..it was all that was in this account..(this account is used for bills and rent) so I go up to the lady ( there were only 2 ladies at 12:30pm 3/5 & ..I got helped by the one farthest from the entrance. Well she saw the account was at 0 after the withdrawal...she asks "so you want to close the account ?....very unprofessional. If I wanted that I would've told her. I said no. The man waiting in the back of the line was invested in the my personal life because of her dumb question .. Mixed Feelings About Citibank I have two Citi credit cards with outstanding credit amounts with 0% interest for 18 months. But I don't have a Citi checking as Wells Fargo, right next door, had a great deal to open a new checking account and have your direct deposit check deposited within 3 months, and get $325 bonus plus no monthly fee. Not too many deals around like that. And just like clockwork, after 3 months, WF deposited the bonus of $325 into my account. Didn't even have to chase it down, like so many banks or credit card offers. This is why I didn't open a checking at Citi. The have a monthly fee and no bonus as big as WF. Nonetheless, I do have two great Citi credit cards which I pay faithfully every month but it's a challenge. I'm old school and like to go into the bank and pay my balance in cash. They will not accept my cash because I don't have a checking with them. And they can be very rude about it. So, while all the reviews speak highly of the lovely tellers, that is true, 'as long as you have a checking or savings with them.' Sure they love to take your money for those accounts but oddly seem to punish Citi card holders who wish to pay off balance 'in cash, in person, with ID' like they're the enemy. I have other credit cards with other banks with no checking and they're always delighted to take my cash payments on account each month. It would make much more sense to treat ALL customers with respect because people need to make changes from time to time for whatever reason. That said, in the event I ever leave WF, I am much more likely to switch to Bank of America who kindly takes cash payments for my credit card even without a checking there, than I am ever to switch to Citi after the way they've treated me. Cash is cash. Every person is a potential customer. The wiser thing to do to treat them with kindness and respect so that just maybe it would be enough to get them to switch over. Instead, there's no way I'd ever open an account at Citi and here to tell anyone who will listen how they do business, or NOT do business. read more

I don't understand how this branch has 2.5 stars. Every time I've been here, all of the tellers are so friendly and polite! Before my trip to Mexico, Kana helped me with getting my currency exchanged and was so kind and helpful. She took the time to explain to me how the exchange rates worked and how it varies by each week. She gave me an ETA for when my currency would be ready for pickup (it was about a week or a little under). I'm not sure if time just flew by because I was excited for my trip but she promptly called me letting me know my currency was ready to be picked up! Fast forward to the day I went to pick it up, she was very clear in explaining the amount of currency was after it was converted from USD to MXN Pesos. She asked me to double check and was super patient with me because that double check turned into triple and quadruple check. Math has never been my strong subject LOL. There were a few other tellers that were involved but I didn't get their names. They were all just as awesome, though. I am going back to Mexico next month so I'll definitely be seeing you guys very soon :) read more

Total Inconvenience not being advised it takes a 6 Hour Delay to confirm each and every transaction that one makes. Never, ever, heard of such nonsense, and was also planning on opening up a business account, but will definitely go elsewhere, and cut ties with Citibank. read more

Good location, parking is easy and the ATMs work. Those are the highlights! The Manhattan Beach branch of Citibank isn't really a full service banking center. It's more of a place to go when you get a hankering for wood paneling, dim lighting and plastic plants. If you need to do some banking stuff, be prepared for a response like, "Call Citibank." Don't give them the satisfaction of showing fear and confusion because you're already standing inside a Citibank branch; just walk away. Maybe try another branch. Don't do like I did and challenge them to provide Citibank's phone number. The answer, "It's on the back of your ATM card," isn't as satisfying as you might expect. read more

Both times that I have been here, the wait has been long. I almost face-palmed myself for intentionally going in to use a teller rather than avoiding lines and using the machines. (But what can I say, I like human interaction.) When I went earlier, there were two people sitting at desks, each with a customer, and two tellers taking customers. There were two others just sitting there, doing their respective things, which I understand... But at the same time, there was a line of six people that they could have assisted. However, I can't give this location a low rating, because the tellers are nice. I wish to update my 4 star review. Unfortunately I was given a interest bearing checking account and bank account that would charge fees of $20/month if the balance was less than 15,000. My dad had the same problem and was given an account that had to have 50,000. The interest as you know these days is almost zero so to stick customers in those situations and leave them paying fees for long periods of time was VERY upsetting. The absolute WORST and most incompetent bank. I had someone steal two checks of mine, I had to close my account, and had to reopen a new one. I left enough money in the account to pay my bills and stopped payment on my the stolen checks. Instead, the bank paid the thief and bounced all the valid payments. I have spent the last week trying to fix this, the bank won't return my calls, and refuse to correct the situation. At this point, I think it's an inside job. Completely incompetent. I lost my card and went into the branch on a Wed to get a new one during my lunch break. I was told my the teller that they would order it overnight and I could pick it up the next day (they would call me when it arrived). The next day at 4:30 i hadn't heard from them so I called and was told the card wasn't ordered until 3:30 that day and they would call me the next day (Friday) when it arrived. 3:30 Friday i hadn't heard from them so i called again. They said they would call UPS to check when it would arrive and call me back. 10 mins later a branch manager called me back to say that instead of ordering it overnight on Wed when I came it, it was ordered GROUND on Thursday afternoon and wouldn't arrive until some time next week!!!! Now my original card number was cancelled on Wednesday and I need that in order to log online to my account which i can't do because i don't have the new number PLUS all the auto bill pays with the card number that are due this weekend aren't going to go through because they have the wrong number!!! The manager couldn't care less that this was causing me any trouble. I am NEVER going to this branch again and seriously considering closing my account with citibank. read more
