The machines are on the older side, but all the ones I used worked very well! Also, the gym was very organized and it seemed like everyone put their weights back after use. The receptionist was also very kind and answered all my questions! Also, their prices are very reasonable. The gym does include parking in their memberships as well, and the parking lot is across the street (it is a municipal parking lot). Amazing gym!

Every time I've come, the locker room has been clean. You bring your own lock but sometimes, if I'm not carrying much, I'll just have my stuff on the floor with me. The treadmills are decent. There area few older ones I prefer not using, but in the early evening, it's a hit or miss, because they get pretty filled up. Weight training is great. They have a few locations on the floor for Olympic bar work. I was able to perform my pyramids sets with an ease of adding and removing weights. During peak time, however, it can be difficult finding a spot. You might find yourself having to wait and adjust your workout due to what's available. All in all, the gym fits my needs and I will look into a possible membership. I like that they're 24 hours. I have a current rotator cuff injury, so I will be waiting until I get the go ahead, to begin my future modified workouts.

My trainer is Felicia, the owner of the business. We work out at my home and she comes up with really innovative workouts! Planks, jump rope, sit-ups, push ups, resistance bands, weights, boxing (my favorite) etc...She makes it really fun! She's very personable and motivating! She also sends weekly assignments and checks up on you weekly. She's also helped with my eating regimen and given me some tips! That pretty much is all I needed to know about the gym. Whether it's true or not, the gym only knows. Maybe they do have a theft issue maybe they don't. Maybe they just said that because they thought I was only going to use the bathroom. This review is regarding my experience today, I haven't worked out at this location. From the looks of it, it's a small gym, looks like they have basic equipment, and the bathrooms are only for members... I also learned today that I may look like a thief as well... My girlfriend and I worked out with Al at Bodyware for 6 months. It was one of the best investments…read morewe've ever made in terms of fitness. We did the "Buddy Training" class together. I already had some experience with exercise and she had no formal training and also has mild cerebral palsy so she was initially wary of working out with a trainer as she thought some of the movements would be too difficult. We were both impressed with Al. He managed to devise routines that would challenge both of us equally while modifying some of the exercises to suit her abilities. I couldn't believe how good a workout we were able to get during a 30 minute class. The pace and choice of exercises were enough to keep us just outside of our comfort zones but not uncomfortably out of breath; and by the end of every lesson we were soaked! Both of us showed results -- I have greater muscle tone and my posture has changed for the better. Her balance has improved remarkably and she can more easily handle obstacles such as stairs and uneven sidewalks at higher walking speeds, her balance has improved as well. It was also more fun for her than standard physical therapy. Al himself is a personable, knowledgeable, and accomplished instructor. He will keep you moving without resorting to drill-instructor tactics and always has something interesting to say. I definitely recommend Bodyware Pelham!

This gym needs a manager who can keep the maintenance crew on a 30 min check point in the locker…read morerooms, and gym floor, especially during peak hours. Daily cleans, weekly deep cleaning. With inspections!!! Having a clean facility could get 5 stars. Isn't that a corporate goal? Have a manager and staff routinely monitor the gym floor. Encourage members to lock away their personal items. Have loaner locks to encourage them. Make an orientation mandatory for new members so they can hear directly about gym etiquette and equipment use. If the staff has something to do, they won't have time to play games at the desk or on cellphone. Tag guests with a wrist band so that they can be noticed by floor staff and assisted on equipment. I see people constantly misusing equipment. The desk isn't positioned to check people in, I see multiple people just walking in and not scanning. Non members, vagrants, etc. there's no protocol for safety or management for overcrowding.

The air conditioning was broken for months this past summer -- forcing members, many of whom are minorities, to work out in unsafe heat. The facility is filthy, machines are constantly broken, and the saunas and pool were actually shut down by the health commissioner (yes, you read that right). The leg press has been broken for months, weights are scattered everywhere, and half the benches are ripped apart. The squat rack is always missing plates, and sometimes you can't even find a 10 lb weight. Every machine feels like it's about to fall apart. I tried to stick it out, but you can't even have a decent workout here -- it's impossible to track progress when everything's broken or missing. I finally canceled my membership. This gym is an embarrassment and should be inspected immediately.
