On the phone call I was told that it was closed because they needed 'verbal confirmation' it was me. I said 'It's me. I am sitting here with one of your coworkers and he has verified all my ID.' The woman on the phone said that was NOT enough! So they closed the account. Without my knowledge, they shut the account and mailed me a check. I was not home so the check sat in front on my apartment door until I got home. So blessed that no one stole the check sitting in front of my apartment door. Their web site UI was super slick and the process was easy and aggravation-free. I recently dropped into the branch in Wakefield to get some cash since I forgot my wallet at home and only had my license on me. Thank goodness I opened an account down here. The retail branch is located in a beautiful white house with a sweeping porch just outside the Wakefield/Narragansett rotary. The landscaping is simple but neat...and walking up the wooden porch steps you feel like you are heading into someone's home. There were no customers in the bank and I was greeted immediately by a teller behind the counter. The staff here looked relaxed...and happy...and best of all, eager to please. I completed my transaction quickly and I was out the door thinking "hmm...they were REALLY sweet." Odd. How often do I leave my bank thinking that? Never...until this place became MY bank. The décor is dated and the carpet definitely needed a scrubbin'. But in a way, it adds to the old school charm here. They offer a full line of financial products and services. I would seek them out for future needs based on the friendly, local vibe. Local is the way to go with banking - and this local biz does South County proud.

Washing Trust has been a great local bank so this might be…read morehard to believe, I still can't believe a stop check to a contractor for house repairs did not work; even though the bank helpers on the phone promised me it was all set. With a "Docusign" to make sure the check could not be cashed in the future. The charge:30 $ A week later a letter came from the bank saying the check bounced and there was a fee for 25 $ Upon calling about this, the banker said this needs a call back. When they called back they said there had been a typo or error in the check number that was entered in ? All the info was there the contractor name, the exact amount 695 $ Can't believe a bank typo error on the check #(1 digit off) would make a garrentee from all the nice people on the phone disappear. So this was my fault I was told ?? WOW The account bounced two more small checks ... and there were two more 25$ fees and the account came down a lot from the banks failure to honor what its agents said and expected thenselfs; even the guy who did the whole thing wen to bat for the situation and what happened, he knew it was a BANK ERROR The branch Manager that handes my accounts there, basically hung up on me too, when I called to check on the status of their upper management decision. Shocking a bank that says it is for its customers and is a protector of people's resources trusted unto to them, Don't believe it, they'll take your account down with a lack of ability in doing a simple stop payment ? The upper people were rude; blamed me(even though I had everything all set I was told twice) and hung up on by a rep, and laughed at me in the SC branch bank as I walked away.
