STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND LISTEN!…read more Once you hear these six words, you know that you are in for an evening of always entertaining team trivia with the guys and gals from Pop Quiz Trivia (the artist formerly known as OC Pop Quiz). In the fall of 2013, Pop Quiz Trivia started at Kelly's Korner Tavern in Placentia (they've been around longer than that tho) and we happend to be there on one of their first nights. At first, we were mildly annoyed by the host (sorry, Dougie) because he was interrupting our beer drinking with his trivia game. After initially declining to play in the first round, we quickly realized that we knew many of the answers that he was looking for. We entered the game in the second round and before we realized it, a trivia team monster was born. Typically, Pop Quiz Trivia's games consist of six rounds of team trivia play. Rounds 1 and 6 ususally consist of six one point questions and one bonus question. If you are lucky enough to get bonus question correct, you will have the opportunity to roll the bonus dice (or die if you prefer). The result of your roll could get your team beers purchased by the host, the opportunity to win more points, or the opportunity to steal a point from another team. Rounds 2 is typically a 10 point round that centers on one specific topic. You may have identify nine movies based on a brief plot description and then your 10th point is earned by determining what is the common thread with all nine movies. Round 3 is usually a nine point round with one bonus question. There are only three questions in the round but each question has three opportunities for you to score points. Round 4 is the picture round where you have to identify the object in the picture. It can be harder than it sounds. Round 5 is the most hated round of the game - the Who Am I round. In this round, you get five questions to identify someone that is truly a household name. After each question is asked, the amount of points that you can receive decreases by two. Also, once you turn in your answer, you can not change your answer and if you are incorrect - NO POINTS FOR YOU! (There is nothing more depressing than pulling the trigger too early and missing out on all points for this round). Here's a little known tip for this round. If you turn in your answer BEFORE any of the clues are read and you are correct, you will earn 20 points. Good luck with that! Also in rounds 1 and 6, there is the opportunity to make a double or nothing wager. If you believe you have all six questions answered correctly, you can check the double or nothing box earn 12 points for a perfect round. If you have one question wrong though, you get a goose egg for that round and it will be difficult to come back from that. The host will review the standings after each round so you'll know how your competition is doing. At the conclusion of the game, prizes are awarded to the top three teams. What these prizes are truly depends on what location you are playing at. It could be cash, it could be a percentage off of your tab, or it could be a gift card for future visit to the establishment that you are playing at. The games are quite spirited. Rivalries definitely develop but so have some friendships with people that otherwise you probably wouldn't have chatted with. In order to be successful at this game, you do have to carefully consider how you construct your team. It would be difficult to be successful at this game without have an effective balance of both genders and a variety of ages on your team. This isn't just about sports, movies, and history. There is going to be a question about Project Runway on here so be sure your team can "make it work." Our team has played at Kelly's, Slater's 50/50, C4, and The Post. We don't always win but it is always a good time. Because we've been to a number of their locations, we've seen almost all of the hosts do there thing. Each one of them brings something different to the game and makes it their own. If you are looking for something different to do during the week, check out the closest Pop Quiz Trivia location to you. It is a fun way to hang out with your friends on a school night.

I first found them over a decade at the now deceased skaters 50/50 then followed them over to Kelly's in placentia. Doug who's the head of it knows wtf he's doing and makes it a point to make his games fun and entertaining with his banter. If you see them scheduled somewhere near you definitely check them out. The experience and the game setup seems superior to other hosts in the area. Definitely worth checking out.

Love their wide open dining space, kids area and even dance floor. Restrooms require a code, but you can get them from any of the restaurants/long-standing vendors. Food variety is perfect with awesome eats at Tacos Arandas (veggie friendly), Barrio (our friend Sid's favorite), Un Rinconcito Argentino (an instant hit with my Argentinian), Pana's Cafe, Panda Sal's, ChocoFaberries, Off Duty Beer + Wine and others. They even have a full arcade and ample parking in back. Service is top tier. Even the employees who help keep SteelCraft thriving are personable. Family friendly, friend group friendly, pet friendly and very welcoming of everyone. Definitely making Downtown Bellflower even more of a hub. Free Wifi. Free Parking, including street parking with no restrictions after 6pm. Live Music on certain days as well as events. Open at 7am daily at the corner of Bellflower Blvd/Oak Street. Closing hours vary, though go until 11pm Friday - Saturday, and until 9 or 10 pm on other nights. Hope to see a couple more of these in Greater LA especially in big hub areas like the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley and/or DTLA in the future.

We ended up going to the Asian spot, where I ordered the beef bulgogi. The portion size was huge and definitely filling. The food came out really fast, and there were plenty of seating areas to choose from. Overall, it's a very casual, easygoing hangout spot that's good for a relaxed meal with friends or family.
