This is a cute store with lots of nice things although if your looking for a deal its not going to be your place. Everything's a bit on the high side. I did find a darling pillow that for me was a splurge $34. It did't look right on my front porch and so I brought it back the next day, tags attached with receipt and was told very sweetly, "sorry we do not do returns as we are a small store so you are only allowed a store credit". This is not posted anywhere and she said it is on the receipt which you are given AFTER you purchase the item. I took the store credit and will someday make the 40 minute drive there again and spend my unwanted store credit. So.....be very, very sure of your purchases. read more

So while shopping at the bow closes shop girl in old town I over heard a customer talking about Pat at the Farmers Wife. I couldn't believe what she told a customer who all she said was she was I. Need of retail therapy because he daughter just went off to college. Pats comment was I don't know why you women don't cut the am cord and move on spend time with your husband. Maybe N K. is a competitor because I've always had a fabulous shopping experience at The Farmer's Wife. The staff there has always been warm and friendly. The owner is charming and you can tell, has a real gift for display and buying for her store. I go to The Farmer's Wife if I ever am feeling a bit "down" because, between the staff and the merchandise, I leave feeling wonderful......plus I can always find a little "something" to perk me up! read more

I just visit this store because I'm in town on vacation. Love the decor and all the pretty things they sell..HOWEVER the owner or sales ladies who were working today October 31st 2018 @ 2:00 pm. ( To be precise) My Mom and I walked around admiring all the beautiful things until being met with ladies who were working followed us and one followed my Mom for so long she had to start a conversation about how the store got started. Lol Wow!! People with their prejudices because the color of our skin...still amazes me. One lady blew a sigh of relief when exited the store. Check this out they sold articles that had scriptures quotes...maybe these ladies should read them before opening the doors for business. SAD. We were the two Aficican American Women in case you lovely ladies read this. Every Person of Color isn't a thief. We actually could afford everything in the store. Anyway.. I went in here a couple of weeks ago with my sister from out of town to shop and just to see if the bad stuff I had heard about this place was true. We were greeted by a nice sales lady and told her we wanted to look around. She then proceeded to follow us around like we were going to steal something. She finally stepped away for a second and like clockwork we heard an older woman in the side room talking badly about the lady that had waited on us. I have known 2 very nice people that have worked at this store and have quit because they say the owner Pat is a "PSYCOPATH"....both said no matter what they did she would scream at them. A lot of times in front of customers and would bring them to tears. She sounds like a big bully if you ask me. If there is a problem with something you buy there. Once you leave she screams at her employee that waited on you for trying to be helpful and handle the problem. I hope karma comes her way. She should be ashamed of the way she treats her customers and employees.I will never support this business! read more

I'm giving this store two stars because the items they carry are really fun and unique. However, the customer service is incredibly lacking, particularly for a more high-end store. I just tried to exchange two candles and a holder that my son bought for me for Christmas (today is January 4th). I had the receipt and was just looking for store credit as I love many items there. Unfortunately, my son didn't see the items that he knew I'd wanted, so he bought a couple of candles and a holder for me to open on Christmas. He then gave me the receipt and said that I should exchange them for the ones I had actually been wanting. I was shocked to hear today that since the candles were "seasonal" items I couldn't even return them for a store credit. Both candles are white, and one is called "Tis the Season" while the other is named "Welcome Home." Even the "Welcome Home" candle was considered a Christmas candle since "it arrived during the season." Wow!!! I will no longer be shopping for gifts here because who knows whether or not the recipient would be able to get something that truly appeals to her and her style. I will also no longer name this store if anyone asks me where I like to shop. It's really too bad that the owner of this store has no real understanding of catering to her customers. I just received a phone call today from them to let me know that the Alex and Ani bangle I purchased less than a year ago can not be exchanged (the charm came off and was lost). I have spent HUNDREDS in this store in the last year and they wouldn't replace ONE bangle. Alex and Ani guarantees their products for a year but it does vary by store (distributors). I wish they would have told me this BEFORE i bought all the bangles I have. From now on I will stick to their (Alex and Ani) website or go to Nordies!! read more

I wish there was a 2 and a half. While I enjoy this store and their very shabby chic and adorable selection, one thing that needs to change is their customer service. A few years ago I was able to walk in the store, get a warm hello, and go on with my shopping. Lately the associates take one look at me and don't even greet me. Not to mention they kind of follow me around like I'm going to steal something. I will say, I'm in my early twenties and I do have quite a few tattoos, but, that doesn't give them the right to pass judgement. A customer is a customer and anyone that runs a business or works retail should know that. I am a good customer and always have been. I always purchase when I go into the store. I'm disappointed to see the reviews people have written because most of them are true and they are losing business this way. Some of their items are pricey and they should definitely disclose their store policy. I hope they make better selections in their hiring process and make customer service a priority. read more

This shop is delightful. The items are displayed in a creative, inspiring way and the clerks are kind and helpful -- not intrusive at all. I moved back to So Calif recently and this was my first outing with a dear friend in the area. Very disappointed with this store, buyer beware! The Farmers Wife does not stand behind their product. I purchased 8 of their flannel shirts as gifts and a number of buttons on the shirts came off. One in particular was missing 3 buttons and not discovered until after the purchase. They could not find the same button and I was willing to have them replace all the buttons with matching buttons but they only wanted to put on an odd, non matching button that they found in their drawer. Shame, for a couple of bucks they could have kept a loyal customer. I must have told a dozen of people about this store, now I will tell dozens not to go. Simple thing really. They promote themselves as a Christian store, shame they don't practice what they promote. The owner did not have enough class to call me herself and had one of the employees call me to say they would not stand behind their products. read more
