New name is "Citrus and Moss" under new ownership. Frankly, most reviews here are outdated, and there needs to be a fresh Yelp page dedicated to the new owner This was my first time in the area. I went to the Starbucks next door to study. The door of Citrus and Moss was wide open, and I couldn't help but feel an inviting and warm energy pulling me in. Hmm hard to describe. It felt like home away from home, and I had to walk in. Mind you, I'm a 27 year-old dude who has no business in being in a cute, rustic boutique shop thingy, but I guess my wife's interests have rubbed off on me over the years. I gravitated towards the awesome smelling candles all the way in the back. I don't know if these candles are poured in-house (homemade) or if they're sourced from elsewhere, but they're not your average scented candles. You know what I'm talking about....those HomeGoods candles that you thought were top-notch? Nope, these are different. I had a hard time picking one I liked, so I bought two! Fast forward to when I picked up my wife from her hospital shift: she immediately took notice of the "sweet and yummy" aroma in the car. The lids were closed, and jars were tightly wrapped in paper. Yet, they unleashed a very subtle yet potent aroma that just makes you feel....happy. You pay roughly twice as much as you would at a brick and mortar store, but this family-run shop knows how to differentiate itself with amazingly good products and extra friendly service. The Farmer's Wife is a fun and eclectic store located in Old Town Temecula. We arrived early one morning on our short vacation here after Christmas. Parking was readily available at ten-thirty am and most stores were just opening. We stopped at Starbucks and then wandered into here. Great find! Prices were very reasonable for all their offerings, women's clothing, household items, knickknacks, jewelry, soaps of all kinds, see photos. Expect to pay around $40 and up. We'll be back. I went into this store today to find a gift to send a friend but had the most humiliating experience. The moment I stepped in the door, a sales associate began eyeing me- not in a way that I was "going to steal something", but that she was just disgusted by me! When I went to look at merchandise near her, I smiled and said hello and she actually rolled her eyes and walked in the other room!? It was humiliating. This was so unprofessional to treat a costumer this way, and human to human.. it's kinda mean. When my husband and I walked out of the store, he looked at me and also made a comment about the glares the sales associate was giving us! Unfortunately, our experience with their customer service was another story. As soon as my friend and I walked in, we were not greeted, I tried having small talk with the person there and she completely ignored me. This store is a fun, charming, quirky, cute little hideaway tucked into a small shopping center at the north end of Old Town Temecula (next door to Starbucks.) It can get a little crowded during busy times (e.g. weekend mornings especially on sunny days during Farmer's Market hours) but the hustle and bustle is actually kind of fun and everyone is friendly and in a good mood. There's street parking along Old Town Front Street and also a lot directly behind the store (which is BEHIND and not connected to the Starbucks lot; if you pull into Starbucks and it's full, you need to pull out and drive around the corner to get to more parking in the back.) Girls only! They'll let guys in, but better to send your husband or boyfriend to Starbucks while you take your time and browse. The merchandise is a mix of country charming, shabby chic, and Southern. There are lots of Christian overtones e.g. Christian light rock music playing in the background, plaques and jewelry referencing God and Jesus but it's not overbearing if that's not your thing. They have a lot of country stuff like Country Living books, pretty linens, hand knit items, one of a kind jewelry, home decor items, little journals, hand lotions, soaps, e.g. It's a great place to pick up a thank-you gift for a girlfriend or teacher. I am not into Vera Bradley but I noticed they have a HUGE Vera Bradley selection. I'd estimate about 1/5 of the floor space is VB merchandise. This would be a fun store to browse with a girlfriend, mother, sister e.g. Or come in on your own and walk around and see what's new. The stock changes all the time so there's always something fun and pretty to explore. Prices range but nothing is outrageously expensive. Even if you only want to spend $5 or $10 you can find something cute and charming to get your shopping fix. This store would also be fun for day trippers "doing" Old Town. Friendly, FRIENDLY staff. NOT kid-friendly for littler kids because there is so much that is delicate/breakable. read more

Very disappointed in the new owner, Citrus and Moss. Citrus and Moss is SO NEW they don't even have a Yelp page yet but they refused to accept my Farmer's Wife gift card today. The girl at the counter even knew the new owner purchased the business with $3,000 in outstanding gift cards. If the new owner was smart, she would have adjusted the price in accordance with the outstanding cards. Instead she just lost a long-time customer. If you're a regular customer there, as I was, then you know they have all your contact information in their system but they made no attempt to contact me to let me know the ownership was changing and I wouldn't able to use my gift card. Very upsetting that I wasn't able to spend the gift my friend bought for me from one of my (previous) favorite stores. read more

Let me just address the bad reviews on this store. I've been using Yelp for a very long time and I'm quick to leave a really glowing review for a business that truly deserves it and if I have a horrible experience I may leave a review commensurate to that experience. I know how much a bad review can hurt a business and I don't wield that power irresponsibly. I have years of front line customer service experience and I absolutely hate when retail sales people ignore their customers. So the bad review about being followed and talked to, maybe they just want to make sure you can find what you want. I feel like these days being friendly is so unwelcomed in So. California. It's sad. Also, to that other bad review that said something about their return policy, of course we don't know the full circumstances of your purchase or return, but I'm going to bet that you have do not own your own business. I get the whole "the customer is always right" and maybe the owner could have somehow accommodated your return, but really? Trash them on Yelp?! That's sad. It's lucky as individuals people can't do Yelp reviews on us! I found the store very charming and full of unique items. Loved it! The personal customer service was nice too! Keep up the good work! I'll definitely be back to shop the next time I'm in Temecula! Unless we only want big chain stores we'd better learn to support our local "Mom & Pop" establishments or we will only have Costco, Walmart & Amazon!! I tried to return a gift, tags attached, WITH A RECEIPT and was told NO. AND you will not be made aware of their policy until AFTER you have purchased. SHADY business. While you would assume that a retailer charging $160 for a table lamp, would be classy enough to have a return policy, they do not. You are absolutely out of your money. I have been a very good customer for years and after today's visit I must say I will never patronize this store again. The owner Patty is extremely rude and asked me not to shop in her store again. I was absolutely shocked at how I was treated and if I had known and read about her on YELP previously, I would have never purchased anything from her. For a small business owner, she is surely going and must have lost quite a bit of business with her lack of customer service. I purchased two flannel shirts for myself a month ago and love them and decided to go back and buy one for my teenage daughter. I couldn't decide on which color so the sales woman recommended I purchase both and return one. I thanked her for the suggestion and did so. At $42 each I only wanted to buy one. When my daughter decided on which one she preferred that evening, I put the return back in the bag which still had the tags on and receipt in it. When I went in to return it today, I was told they do not give refunds, only store credit. There is NO STORE POLICY posted so I was unaware of their return policy but it was the sales woman who told me to return one and never let me know it would be in a store credit. I asked the cashier to make an exception and explained to her what the sales woman told me but she said they were firm on their policy and know they need to have it posted in the store. She looked up my purchase history and realized that I am a very good customer and told me she was going in the back to talk to the owner. The owner came out and very rudely told me she would issue a refund but I should know the return policy if I was a regular customer. I tried to explain how it came to me buying two flannels but she refused to listen and told me she didn't want me business. I was absolutely floored that she spoke to me in that manner and didn't want me to shop there again. As a small business owner myself, I found this so unprofessional and shocking. Been shopping here with my aunt and daughters for 5+ years, and never been told anything, I brought them in today, and one was looking at a Vera Bradley purse and one of the sales ladies took it out of her hands saying she couldn't look at it. After visiting this store with my sister and feeling completely judged, I will NOT be back. We were looking at jewelry for about 15 minutes while the employee ignored us and catered to the other customer. When we were finally acknowledged, we asked to see a bracelet. The employee looked at the price tag and said, "this is $140." She did not even let us look at the bracelet, put it back, and locked the case. She then proceeded to help the other customer and ignored us for another 15 minutes until we finally walked out. My sister is a very regular customer of this store and has spent hundreds of dollars there. This 60 year old employee who is probably making minimum wage working at a retail store has the audacity to judge my sister and me. We will be taking our business elsewhere. read more
