I go to Karalynne at Citrus Salon for color and cut and couldn't be happier! This was my first new stylist after being with the same person for over 10 years and everything has been great. Whether is covering roots, or roots and a cut I always leave happy with cute hair. I have also had balayage a couple times and it looked amazing! Super natural and grew out so well. I feel like it looked good for a long time, which is always the goal! As a bonus Karalynne is wonderful, super sweet and easy to talk to. Let me start off by saying I'm really picky. Roni was literally the best thing that happened to me in 2020. She was super fun to talk to but more importantly SHES SO TALENTED. My husband never mentions anything about my hair but when I came home from the salon this time he said he loved it. This salon is amazing! I booked an appointment for a haircut months after experiencing a damaging chemical cut from a relaxer with a previous hairstylist who initially claimed to focus on the health of their client's hair. After this horrible experience I didn't feel comfortable going back to a salon and decided to nourish my hair at home for several months. After a few months passed I realized that I wasn't skilled enough to cut my own hair and needed someone I could trust. After doing some research I settled on Citrus Salon and was met with Jacqueline Paoli on the day of my appointment. Jacqueline was patient, kind and very attentive to my needs. Not only was she a great listener, but she was also pleasant to converse with during the appointment. Due to the TLC I'd given myself at home she was able to cut off far less than I initially expected. In addition she shared a few tips on how I could continue to care for my hair at home until my next appointment. It's been a little over a month since my last service and my hair is in a much better state than before. I happened upon Citrus 10 years ago and booked the first available appointment, which happened to be with Adam: an absolute hair master (but now runs the Portland, OR location). Everything Adam did was magic! I was heartbroken when he left a few years ago. I've continued at Citrus, trusting in the Aveda education, with 3 or 4 different stylists since Adam. Unfortunately I've been disappointed each time, and yesterday had the first cut of my life that brought me to tears (not the good kind). The appointment started 15 minutes late (which I did receive a text message heads-up about an hour prior, but was still disappointing as I was on a tight schedule). When I arrived, the stylist introduced herself as if we'd never met: I certainly don't expect stylists to remember every single client they've ever seen, but a quick glance at my chart could've informed her that she saw me herself three months ago, so no need to re-introduce. When I sat down in the chair, she asked about my roots and color; I explained that I was there for a haircut, not color. She said that the appointment was booked as a root touchup... but we could do a cut instead. I will take a little responsibility for the outcome of the cut as I didn't give as much direction as I could've, but I don't know the first thing about hair and it was the same stylist I had last time - I assumed she could assess the cut she did, realize what it was, and "clean it up" per my request. I came out with a completely different style, extremely short, and on the verge of tears. She realized (her mistake? my unhappiness? both?) and suggested a manager come over and fix it, which I politely declined as I had a sick baby at home and it was baby's bedtime. As a new mom, I am already not feeling confident about my body... my hair has always been the one thing I had going for me, but now I don't even feel like I have that anymore. Plus, in 10 days I'm going to be in a family member's wedding... pictures that will it last a lifetime, with this new haircut. Ugh. I will give the salon one more chance and book an appointment with Ash, the curly specialist. If that doesn't work out then my time at Citrus is over. It's been over a decade, and the salon has been great; I always trusted in the Aveda education, but that doesn't seem to be enough for many of the current stylists they have.
