There is a large group of older men who take over most of the courts. They play doubles and can be quite loud and rude. They swap players in and out, effectively tying up the courts for hours and hours. If you are playing they will ask you over and over again about how much longer you are going to be playing. I can get over the beer drinking, cigar smoke and the dogs running around, but hogging the courts for hours is awful. The courts do need to be redone. They are heavily worn at the baselines.

We saw a little league team practicing so this park seems like a place where a lot of sports league games take place over the weekend. The restrooms were pretty interesting: they were individual restrooms with a slick and modern exterior but the interior was similar to every other public restroom you'd see. They were also not well-maintained as the connected hand sanitizer dispenser was empty and the hand wash station was not working. There was a good amount of parking but I'm sure it could get packed if there's a tournament of some sort going on. This looks like a great park if you're looking to stay active.

Let's not forget the GIANT grass field behind the Hiawatha building that summer concerts are held at! It is located right next to a Safeway and across the street from a fancy sandwich shop, so picnics are very easy events to plan or to execute on a whim! Gas Works Park is one of my favorite parks for its view of Lake Union. However, the view of the…read morelake at the park on the other side, Lake Union Park is not too shabby. The location of Lake Union Park is at the end of the South Lake Union neighborhood. The park is a bit overshadowed by construction nearby. The area is busy since the roads across the street leads towards I-5, but the park itself does not seem to be too crowded. The park houses the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI), so that is one good reason to visit this park. The museum is a great place to learn about the history of Seattle. The park itself is great for its open space and nice views of downtown and the Space Needle nearby in addition to the aforementioned Lake Union. This park is definitely a favorite of many for different reasons. I saw some folks jumping into the lake from the bridge. While others like to get wet in the wading pools here. Even saw a flock of geese enjoying the park on a warm sunny summer day. Personally, I like watching the action on Lake Union. It is full of boats, kayaks, sailboats and seaplanes. If you are in South Lake Union, visiting Lake Union Park while in the area is worth the walk. This park's many views gives you a sense of the beauty of Seattle all around.
