My husky got a gash that needed stitches after playing a little too rough with my other husky. I called VEG, and they told me to come on over. I was there in 5 mins, I immediately liked the open plan floor where you can stay with your pup as they're treated. The staff were kind and friendly, took great care of my pup and were out the door all stitched up within about 90 mins. I was able to stay with her as the sedative kicked and keep her relaxed while she was disoriented. Such a different experience to other clinics and definitely would go back. Not sure on the value as don't have a comparison, but it was ~$1k for a few stitches, antibiotics, cone and pain meds. Free removal of the stitches after ~10 days too. read more

So thankful for VEG and the prompt and compassionate care they gave our dog, Penny. The doctor walked me through all of our options and took amazing and gentle care of our girl in her last moments. When it was time to say goodbye we were taken to a private room so we could spend as much time as we needed together. They made sure it was a peaceful passing for Penny, but also regularly checked in on me and explained everything kindly and thoroughly. I would like to especially shout out Ashton, who was kind enough to make Penny a beautiful plate of sweets and even shared her own piece of pie. It was so helpful to be around such a caring individual at the worst moment of my life. We had taken Penny in once before, and my husband and I both appreciated the set up of the clinic - you can see your animal being cared for and be with them every second. The team at VEG were delightful. Great communication, from triage to checkout. My kitty has sensitive skin, which comes with irritation from every little thing. She had been scratching around her eyes, and had developed some scratches that were inflamed. Ultimately, she was prescribed antibiotics, with a proposed eye dye. The medical director was my treating vet, and she explained why the eye dye was suggested, but not required. In an expensive time, I'm very appreciative that they didn't push for an unnecessary test. She and the team all had great bedside manner. Yes, the wait was a bit long, but it wasn't through any fault of the staff; multiple stat cases had come in and understandably, skin irritation wasn't at the top of the to-do list. Also, they did let me know up front that it would be a bit of a wait, so again, good communication. While I hope I never have to take my baby into an emergency vet, I would definitely come back to VEG. read more

One never wants to be in a position to review an emergency vet, but sometimes it has to happen. My dog was having trouble walking paired with a hot spot and we had to go in on Father's Day. We were triaged by a vet immediately and were able to see everything going on in the room so we could understand our place in line. I took my 8 year old Bernese Mountain Dog to the Seattle VEG clinic. She was not eating and lethargic. I was concerned that this might be an end-of-life issue. We've had three Berners and know they have a short life span. The team of people at the Seattle VEG clinic were terrific. They performed many clinical tests including ultrasound and x-ray imaging. Unfortunately, the results confirmed my concerns. She had advanced cancer in multiple organs. I took her home from VEG and made arrangements to have her put down the next day at another clinic recommended by the VEG team. Worst emergency experience ever. Do not go here... pls. see below. It was between this and Timberline Vet Emergency and I wish we tried Timberline. The Dr. could not explain my pet's diagnosis well and what we needed to do to remediate her heart failure event in the immediate future. He was trying to explain to us that she had congestive heart failure - which we already mentioned to him that she was previous diagnosed with and brought with us a previous echocardiogram and chest X-Ray. My pet continued to cough up fluid occasionally through the night after we went to VEG, and the next AM we took her to another Urgent Care (L&L Animal Urgent care) who were amazing. They gave her an injectable furosemide and sent us home with instructions to increase her dose of this med. Simple, thorough, and effective. Furthermore, we were left sitting around aimlessly - when we clearly and specifically that we came in for CHF, we need a chest Xray and bloodwork done to see if we need to give my pet an increased dose of furosemide and /or an injectable. When I tried to ask one of the vet tech staff when we could take blood so I could put my pet back in the car (she is very anxious at the vet office), I simple got a response that, I don't know what your pet's treatment plan is.. instead of I don't know but I can find out (esp. since there was no one else to treat at that time). Then I asked the doctor again, and he said - oh let me put the lab request in and that same person who didn't know- came to take blood. Just awful attention to detail and experience all around. Not a single person was competent. Even the check out lady was rude and made us wait to pay the bill for quite a while. And we when we asked finally she said, do you have somewhere to be? We've been to the Redmond location and this time went to Interbay as it's much closer and less traffic. My 8yo golden had several masses removed on a Tuesday and Sat night he managed to rip out the suture on his neck. I called both locations and emailed a photo. The Interbay location suggested (on Sunday morning) that I bring him in so they could take a look to determine if he needs to be re sutured (and they won't charge us if he doesn't need suture). The Redmond location told us as long as it stops bleeding and it's less than 5cm we could wait till Monday to see his regular vet. To be safe I took him in and they were super busy, but 90min later the vet took a look, suggested skin glue as the wound had closed and didn't look as bad as the night before. She did just that and she didn't even charge us! I'm forever grateful as I've had great experiences at the Redmond location as well (he was treated 2x with doggie enema). Loved the staff and the vets. I've had way worse experiences at other ER vets. VEG is by far the best and I'm will never go anywhere else. PS they noticed Tater Tot was super scared and trying to pull me to break free of vet jail and since it was so crowded they found us a room so he could calm down! Love them. read more

Unfortunately, I had to make an emergency visit tonight because Lani had an injury that wasn't looking great. Thankfully, she got excellent care. Check-in was super fast and easy--they take you in immediately to a massive open-concept treatment room where you stay with your pet for everything. They have couches with blankets and pet beds at each station, so both pets and their humans are comfortable. Vitals and check-ups are done right in front of you, which I really appreciated. They do have private rooms for more serious cases, but I loved that the standard setup allows you to see everything happening and lets your pet see you the entire time. I even saw a cat receiving some kind of oxygen treatment, and the owner was able to sit on a couch in front of the glass kennel to keep them company, little things like that make a huge difference. The place is well-staffed, with tons of vets and support personnel, which is clearly needed because there was a steady flow of pets and their people coming in. Despite how busy they were, the team was incredibly friendly and kind. Lani had her wound treated, got set up with antibiotics, and, of course, left with the dreaded cone of shame. The best part? No price gouging just because it was an emergency. I probably would have paid the same at my regular vet. Plus, there's plenty of free parking, and it's right next to Chipotle and Panda Express if you need to grab a bite while you wait. I've been here before tonight to support a friend during her dog's illness and, the end-of-life process. They gave my friend a private room with a couch that folded into a bed, along with sheets, pillows, and blankets so she could stay overnight with her dog. That kind of care really helped both of them in those final days. Having a facility like this around is a game-changer. Dr Rodriguez was very thorough, very patient, knowledgeable and did an excellent job taking care of our cat. She did such a good job with the procedure and also preparing and setting me up for aftercare to ensure the best recovery possible. Our cat was at the center for maybe ~8hr total from time of check in to discharge. There were several long periods of waiting in between the initial nurse check, to diagnostics, to waiting for radiologist reports and then finally the procedure with other procedures happening. We were situated in a quiet waiting room by ourselves so at least our cat could rest while waiting. She kept me in the loop through out the whole process which was comforting as we were very stressed out. The bill was not cheap by any means but Dr Rodriguez did such a great job setting expectations and explaining best-worst case scenario up front as you have to pay for the visit cost estimate ahead of start of any work. We got lucky and ended up being on the side of best case and they even refunded me some cost. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place!! If I could use them for a regular veterinary clinic I would in a heartbeat! First of all, they don't just try and get you in to see them and spend a fortune. If you call, they will ask you what's going on, speak with a doctor, and if it isn't an emergency they will advise you on at-home care FREE OF CHARGE. It's very clear that they care about animals over money. My golden retriever had an allergic reaction a while back and they suggested that we bring him in. I love the setting, everyone seems so professional and knowledgeable and there is no "taking them back" while you sit there anxiously, they do everything right there in front of you. Another time my golden had some blood in his stool and I was freaking out and called just to ask what the initial exam fee was, and after they told me I was about to hang up and drive clear up north and spend probably over $100 on a clinic appointment, when the person on the phone asked me what was going on. They put the doctor on the phone with me and she advised me what to do and saved me a ton of money and unnecessary stress. I will ALWAYS recommend them. read more

I have two pets and now they have both been patients at this VEG center. I can't recall everything about my first experience with them years ago but this week Dr Ives and team were wonderful. Dr Ives explained everything as it was happening with comfort and ease. I can't imagine how stressful and sad this job is , but I'm thankful for the majority of the employees who were caring, thoughtful, and professional. While the assistant , Clarissa ( or Clarisse) seemed competent, they were a bit cold and acted annoyed at my questions. I understand they do this everyday, but for some of us- this could be one of the worst days of our lives. I hope if they read this, they can coach the staff on being able to show a bit more empathy. Our 18 year old terrier chihuahua mix Ella was peacefully passing away at home when suddenly she had a series of seizures, and lost her ability to move. She was crying out afterwards, and so we knew she had to be put down immediately. Her usual vet was closed, and does not do euthanasia. Quickly found VEG Seattle, and called, then arrived shortly after in the very early morning hours to the kindest, understanding, and accommodating group of people. It is 3:30 AM. I do not like to write up reviews at 3:30 in the morning or be up in general at this ungodly hour. But here I am - and I'm writing a review for VEG because they truly deserve it. I took my dog, Rufus, in at 2:00 AM since he was acting strange and ill. The team greeted us with such kindness and energy, and they listened to my plight and empathized with me while giving Rufus all the love and pets. The doctor checked on Rufus and gave us her professional opinion - she wasn't pushy with the bill and worked with me to do what's best for Rufus. I threw a bunch of questions regarding Rufus's behavior, and she was so patient with me and provided answers with clarity and respect. All in all, the team at VEG made my unfortunate visit, unbearably early in the morning, pleasant and comforting. Not all heroes wear capes, that's a fact. And the team at VEG are no exception. My sister and myself cannot be more thankful to the staff at VEG. My sister and I coparented our cat Freya together, and unfortunately, she passed away at VEG due to sudden illness. The staff and veterinarians at VEG were very kind and friendly to us in explaining our options. They helped us to know what our options were and what would be in the best interests of our poor baby kitty. The clinic is an open floor plan so you can see your pet and see where your pet is and sit by them, etc. The veterinarians and vet techs are also very easily accessible. The office manager and staff were so kind to us in helping us handle financing arrangements and end of life care. They were very sensitive and delicate with us and our situation. They are expensive, but in my experience, all emergency vet clinics are expensive. If you are considering using VEG, I can't recommend them enough. We had to bring our dog Nugget here today. I was so grateful for all of the empathy we received from the doctors and techs here. Having to bring your pet to the emergency vet is one of the most stressful situations of pet ownership. The staff here made the experience so much less stressful. Well, this place is not a jolly good time spot as it's for sick/injured/dying pets. I had to euthanize my beloved cat Flax here yesterday morning. He was so very ill and his quality of life was abysmal. The staff here are incredibly helpful and sympathetic. Mirna Topic, DVM is a young woman with mad veterinary skills and took the time to actually listen to me and made me part of the decision. The difficult, difficult decision. Because of people that refused to pay Veterinary Emergency Group and other veterinary professionals, they will make you pay the entire cost upfront and veterinary care is expensive for the same reason...people who skipped out on paying. They made it awful for the rest of us. Please don't complain about Veterinary Emergency Group being too expensive. ALL veterinary care is expensive. I am extremely fortunate to have a great bunch of older sisters who have well-paying jobs and paid all the bills for this unhappy visit. And my pet insurance will reimburse them 90%. Buy as much pet insurance as you can afford! It's well worth the peace of mind. Anyway, I can't write anymore. I feel sorrow for the loss of my fur boy bubbling up and I am going to take a shower and cry for a while. V.E.G. is a huge space with comforting and comfortable private rooms where you can hold your beloved fur baby as the vet administers the I.V. solution that will send your sweet animal pal to The Rainbow Bridge. A 24/7 Emergency Vet - wow. Talk about a stalwart business. The interior is bright, clean, and welcoming. I love their philosophy behind pet care. Our orange tabby got the tip of her tail caught under a stool and as a result it got ripped off to the point her bone was showing, so we had to find a place that would see her immediately (potential infection and nerve damage were the risks). It ended up being $1700 for a small tail amputation surgery with sedation and pain meds, and they were able to have her in and out in a matter of hours. The staff is friendly and does an amazing job at offering explanations. They let you stay with your pet the entire time throughout the procedure too, which shows conscientiousness / empathy for anxious pet owners out there. All around an great experience :) read more

Slow, dirty, and borderline maliciously incompetent imo. We will never go back. I wouldn't recommend VEG Interlake to any pet owner with any love for or standard expectation of care for their pet. This was our experience of their 'care' last month: - In hour 2 or 3, the vet indicated I was likely to have to put my cat down. This was presumably based on just her age - they didn't get or look at her medical history until I pressed. She ultimately needed to be treated for dehydration, pain relief, and a UTI and sent home; fortunately our vet saw her after this, treated her properly, and she's fully recovered now. - We sat there for over 6 hours, mostly in one giant room. In hour 3, a pet owner sobbed nearby while they performed open abdominal surgery on another cat less than 5 feet away from us and other pets. - Large dogs were barely controlled, with a Doberman slipping their leash at one point, stressing out nearby pets, including ours. - The vets ceased pet care three separate times to hold all-staff meetings where they loudly shared the details about the pets needing care for between 20 and 45 minutes each time, leaving pets uncared for. -They did an ultrasound where they found a mass but couldn't say what because they "weren't a radiologist" and it was "probably incidental." Upon follow-up my vet reassured us after looking at the ultrasound, saying it was likely benign and not uncommon in older cats. -The vet technician lobbed passive aggressive comments about the pet while treating her in a room that had clearly not been cleaned due to the multiple types of pet hair on the seat, floor, and table. -They tried to bill us for hundreds of dollars of unnecessary labs that had been done by my previous vet 2 weeks prior. They said my vet didn't send the results over (they did, hours earlier). They only took the unnecessary services off the bill once we pulled up the results file ourselves. read more

We were out of town when our boarding facility called to let us know our dog had developed bloody diarrhea. Wanting to understand the process for bringing him to this emergency vet, we called ahead. The staff member who answered was dismissive from the beginning. She told my husband that he "needed to listen to her" and claimed she understood it was a stressful situation, but her tone conveyed no empathy. She suggested we "just change his food," which was not relevant given the urgency of bloody stool. When my husband tried to explain, she cut him off, told him there was no power and ultimately hung up on us. Because of this interaction, our dog was not brought to this facility. I am disgusted by the lack of professionalism and compassion in such a critical moment. In an emergency, pet owners should feel reassured and supported, not dismissed or hung up on. I was visiting Seattle for the holidays when I suddenly had to rush my dog to VEG (Interbay) on Christmas Eve. From the moment we arrived, the team immediately cleared a table for him in their open exam area, where you can stay close to your pet and watch as the team checks vitals and runs tests (with the option to wait in the lobby if you prefer). They did everything they could to keep him comfortable and cared for. Sadly and unexpectedly, I had to make the decision to euthanize my almost-12-year-old French bulldog due to a large bleeding splenic tumor. While absolutely heartbreaking, Dr. Ellie and the entire team were incredibly compassionate, warm, and genuinely caring. I truly trusted them, which made an unbearable moment feel a little less frightening. When it came time, I was brought into a private room separate from the main floor. It was calm and comforting, with a sofa, tissues, and treats, and I was given as much time as I needed with my baby. Today, I received a handwritten condolence card from the staff, which meant more than I can express. This was the hardest decision of my life, but I believe it was the most humane one. We've been to VEG a few times and always had a good experience, even though it's nearly always a stressful and scary situation. But when our 7-year-old pit mix Henry had his first seizure, they went above and beyond. We lost our boy within 12 hours, but we were so thankful for this facility and its team. They answered our questions, allowed us to make the decisions, supported us no matter what we decided. The two doctors who cared for Henry on his last day were so attentive to him and gentle with us. The support staff and techs literally held our hands as we walked in to say goodbye. I've never felt so cared for by a group of strangers. It took their staff 3.5 hours to fully remove his obstruction. I have never been more grateful or impressed with animal medical staff from start to finish. This team is exactly who you want in your court if your pet is important to you. Even the post procedure care was 5 star, you get what you pay for at this location. My dog found a baby bunny nest in our backyard and hurt one of the baby bunnies immensely. I spoke with a wildlife rescue who said they could take it in to euthanize it, as it was suffering and beyond care, but they were far away and recommended I call a local emergency vet. The staff at VEG were so kind to take the baby bunny in for compassionate euthanasia to end its suffering, which not all vets are willing to do if it's wildlife. It's an incredible place that recognizes it's inhumane to allow an animal to suffer. Should my pets need emergency care in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to bring them there, as this encounter showed me how much they care about all animals. read more

Took in my dog, Hank, for a late evening emergency visit when his cough and demeanor took a turn for the worse. It wasn't a busy night for them, so we were admitted pretty quickly with our own waiting room as a precaution in case it was something infectious. The layout is otherwise an open space that I'd not seen before - exam tables, desks, chairs are all in the same room. It's an interesting concept that lets you be close to all of the "action", rather than having all animals partitioned into separate areas. X-rays were taken of Hank's lungs and the resulting images, along with some quick bloodwork, showed he had a pneumonia. The staff was really great with giving him some fluids and antibiotics to take home, then all info was sent along to our regular vet. I thought it was all very thorough and done with compassion and care. It's not a cheap service, and I'm glad that I invested in pet insurance to help defray the costs. No one ever wants to be in a situation where your pet needs emergency care, but I feel you'd be in good hands taking them to VEG. read more

These people were incredible! I had to being in a cat I was catsitting for, at 12:30am, on a Saturday night. Not only did they quickly and efficently attend to the cat, they also attended to me - giving me a quiet room to wait in, a stiff coffee, and even an Uber ride home, as I had to get there on the bus. They even gave me some prescription food, when I was waiting for the order from Amazon to come in. I took my dog in on a Saturday night. Starting with the receptionist to the doctor to the assistants the service was above and beyond. Compassion ruled the trauma of my dogs treatment. The doctor was professional, thorough, and understanding of my emotional state. Same with the assistants. I highly recommend this clinic. My boarding facility was concerned my dog was throwing up. It was nerves, but I let them get another opinion at VEG. $3K of testing later, it's probably nerves. I wasn't there so I was OK with this. It was expensive, but no issues. EXCEPT they fed my dog CHICKEN. VEG heard about this allergy from the boarding facility, my daughter, and me a number of times via phone, but they still fed her CHICKEN. We spent a very long weekend with a very sick pup. We fought dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and massive diarrhea, unable to get anything in her. I took her to my vet Monday when the expected ear infection would be evident. Fortunately, she'd already started recovering. Total cost for a nervous old dog? $3,400. And it could have been avoided. read more

This was the absolute BEST vet experience we have ever had. We brought our cat, Bubba, in for a urinary blockage and were seen instantly by Dr. Willis. Within a few hours, they had an estimate and treatment plan ready to go and send over the plan to review before they treat. Yes, this place is expensive, but it is an E.R. so that is to be expected and quite frankly with the level of care our cat received, it was worth every penny. On top of the urinary blockage, he also had a colon impaction as well, and they really made sure to try everything they could to avoid surgery. 10ish enemas later and our boy is fully feces free and on the mend. A huge thank you to the entire staff of doctors, techs, receptionists, literally everyone because we never felt like a burden, even when we called a million times for updates. They also have great facilities if you plan on staying with your pet their entire stay including nap rooms and showers. I highly recommend this E.R. Even though I hope no one has to go through having a sick pet, please take them here because they will treat your pet as their own. read more

I brought my young mini-dachshund in late at night on a Wednesday after a grand mal seizure. The vets were incredible and the staff was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The initial visit ended up being the first of multiple, and I have been consistently impressed each time by the skill and kindness of everyone in the clinic. They did everything possible to help my dog, and given the open concept I could also see that they were just as loving and attentive to pets whose owners were not present to see what was going on. We wanted to thank them for the support and professionalism we experienced going through the sad end of life process for our beautiful dog. We brought her to the Seattle facility in January hoping her health could be restored. Sadly, that was not possible as her conditions were too numerous. Their staff were wonderful - calm, understanding, and patient as we dealt with understanding our beloved dog's situation and our grief. They are wonderful people with a wonderful, first-class facility. Every aspect of their care for our pets is measured and considerate of the feelings of the owners who consider their pets as family members. This is the first veterinarian where I felt they understand our love for our best friends. they treat the situations with love for the animal and their human. They don't have you sit in another room, if you want to be there with your animal, they have you stay. If your best friend needs to stay the night, they give you the option to stay as well. I love the setup; you get to watch everything going on around you. Which helps ease the care your bestie will receive. The animals that were hospitalized, and the family went home to sleep, they treated those animals with so much care. They would stop and check on them regularly, giving them a quick rub or hug, and would continue this for the whole night. I personally would feel comfortable leaving my animal in their care.. I am the bestie that would stay, however. If you are questioning the care you will receive here, you will feel your apprehension relieve itself once you are there.
