I need to update my review to my prior post because of their continued incompetency and lack of follow though. After my prior fiasco with them, and specifically after Mortgage Mike read my review, he gave me a call in an effort to fix this, as he knew that their mistake cost me to not only lose the home I was looking to buy, but also nearly 13k in taxes I didn't need to pay. He told me he wanted to make things right, and said that he'd have a staff meeting with the group in order to find a proper way to reduce my pain. I said it wasn't necessary, yet he insisted. A few weeks went by and I received a phone call and an email from a Jamie Norris-her official title there is Chief Heart Officer. She asked for the address that I would be within the next two weeks, so 'that a gift could be sent for all my inconveniences'. "Once I get the address, I'll send the confirmation date", Jamie wrote. I sent the address that day, thanking her, and then after not hearing a response from her or getting a package from them 2 weeks later, I left a voicemail AND emailed her the address again. That was March 8th, 2022. Not that my life depends on this, but I still have yet to hear from her or receive any gift. Today is May 26th, 2022. But I'll give City Creek lots of credit for their response to my less-than-smooth experience (even sent me a gift certificate to a restaurant). Avoid City Creek, their gifts are in marketing, not mortgages. I had a similar experience to Jeff W (would have lost earnest money), but fortunately was able to switch to another lender. I also experienced poor communication and a pre-approval that turned out to mean very little. City Creek is not Fannie Mae approved and therefore could never have done our loan. This isn't needed for every loan, but was important in our case due to commission income. A red flag was being asked to sign a contract and pay for an appraisal before we had a property under contract. This is not appropriate, it is a lock-in tactic. I'd advise cultivating multiple options when shopping for mortgages, and be sure to have a direct lender in the mix (there are a few in Utah), not just brokers like City Creek. This is how we were able to sniff out the lower quality people in the industry. City Creek was the slickest, with the best advertising, website tools, and a friendly staff, but their integrity and competence were lacking. read more

We had a couple bumps in the road early on with some miscommunication that slowed the process down by a couple of days, but once Heather took over she saw the process through keeping us updated up through closing. I would highly recommend going with City Creek Mortgage, they know what they are doing, Des has been there over 10 years, and Mike has been doing this for over 17 years. He knows what he is doing. They are NOT a bank, so they can get you into a loan program that works for you, they did for me, I am self employeed, and it hard these days to get a loan when you work for yourself these days. Just remember they still require your first born, and all the other crap that any lender is going to require from you, which we all hate, but you have to do it. I was told "all their lenders offer bi-weekly payments." When I went to set up payment the lender did not allow for bi-weekly payments. Alexis said she would look into it. She responded by letting me know the lender no longer allowed for bi-weekly payments. I would have likely used another mortgage company if I would have been told the truth up front. Overall communication was horrible. I set up a closing date and the day off, the title company had not received docs yet. I had to call to let City Creek know they did not have docs yet, to get them to rush the docs to the title. We closed two hours later than planned and sat around for two hours. Often emails went unanswered and we were passed around to four different people from the company. Email responses were," I will let you know tomorrow" with no communication back the next day. read more

I need to start this off by explaining we have purchased many investment properties and primary homes so my wife and I know what a good mortgage company should be like. We have learned this the hard way by having many bad experiences with other mortgage companies. Our experience with City Creek Mortgage was INCREDIBLE! Alexis is as sharp as it gets when it comes to loan officers. We had some complicated aspects of our purchase that I did not know the best way to handle, but thanks to Alexis we ended up having the deal EXACTLY THE WAY I WANTED. We also used City Creek Mortgage to do a refinance on one of our investment properties. We bought the property several years ago and thought our interest rate was great. City Creek helped us to refi the place so that we pretty much kept the same interest rate we had before even though interest rates are higher now then when we purchased. They saved us a ton of money on our monthly mortgage payment. THE THING THAT IMPRESSED ME THE MOST: I was a little frustrated about a few minor things with the loan process and posted a slightly negative review when I was in a bad mood. I was personally contacted by Alexis and Mike (the owner of the company) and they moved appointments so they could meet with me immediately to resolve my concerns! Most of my frustrations were with the bank City Creek paid my old loan off with. The bank that our old loan was with was trying to screw us out of some of the money they owed us from the pay off. Even though this had nothing to do with city creek Mortgage Mike (company owner) offered to pay us the money out of his own pocket if the old bank did not give us the money they owed us. WOW!!! The owner of the company knows everything that goes on in his business and TRULLY CARES that all of City Creeks customers are extremely well taken care of and satisfied. TRUST ME AND LOOK NO FURTHER THIS IS THE LENDER YOU WANT TO USE!! I was impressed with their consultative approach, the fact that they looked at my bigger financial picture not just the loan request, and they made sound recommendations on the type of loan I should pursue. The owners and staff at City Creek are friendly, professional and competent. They know their business and they made me feel like I was their most important client. My re-finance was not a simple one, but they persisted and helped me navigate through all that needed to happen to get it done. City Creek was great to work with, easy to get a hold if I had any questions and everyone seemed very friendly. The process was fairly smooth, there are always documents that have to be resent or resubmitted with whoever you work with. I was able to get a no cost loan for a slightly higher rate, but was almost a point cheaper than my current rate, plus I saved a month of a mortgage payment and received a check from old mortgage company when that loan was paid off. AVOID this company! they now advertise on the radio in Salt Lake so their volume has to be thru the roof and their service in the gutter. Here's my story, Got pre approved thru City Creek, sure no big deal, everyone gets pre-approved. Then I wanted to buy a higher priced property, again no problem we'll just do a jumbo 30 year instead. So I go under contract, City Creek is asking for the normal financial documents and then some very stupid questions regarding transactions that just make no common sense. Questions like , wanting proof I paid my quarterly taxes, when I signed my year end tax return under penalty of law, showing that I paid my quarterly, plus a final amount. Ridiculous, Then they are doing Quicken Loans for me, oh crap! read reviews on Quicken loans! OMG! this gets worse. Real estate purchase contracts have hard dates, dates that financing has to be complete, earnest money goes hard, meaning non refundable. City Creek missed 2 of these. They waited to the last minute to get an appraisal. My Earnest Money went hard, and City creek could not get me final approval, they kept saying "we are working on it," "the investors are reviewing the appraisal", they would never say any reason like your credit is too low (805) or your debt to loan ratio is off, ( I have no debt) they never came back with anything. Long story made short, I let my earnest money go hard(non refundable) city creek still could not tell me yes, or tell me no. So I had to pay cash. or loose $25000 earnest money or loose getting the house. I'm still waiting from city creek for funding, or a refi or anything. Even an answer that I cant get funding at all. IT BEEN 7 WEEKS AND STILL NO ANSWER! Last Email, said they have other lenders looking at my file. AVOID THIS COMPANY read more

Very disappointed with this company, made a phone call to see if i could refinance my home, i will keep it a bit professional and will not mention the person's name that was helping me, It all started with me asking a few questions over the phone to see if i qualify for a loan, first she told me that looking at my history i should be able to qualify but will need to fill out an application, of course they pulled my credit, I was not getting a call back or a response for a couple of days so i sent a text and an email asking what was going on and i got a call back after the next day of my text only to tell me that they are still working on my application, same happen for the next 4 days with no response but to only find out that the system will not approve my application, (that's what she said) gave me no reason why and that at this time she thought it was best for me to go somewhere else but that she was going to keep trying running my application through the system and will let me know the outcome, never heard from her again, very bad experience with this company and will not recommend it for any one to use them as your lender, stay away from them, sounds like there are people there that don't know how to do their job or inexperienced. read more
