My Mariposa "festive" (read: adorned with paper xmas decorations) dinner cruise last night reminded me of being at a distant cousin's wedding reception. Buffet style dinner for which tables were called by number. DJ playing a mix of festive xmas favourites and top 40 wedding pop. Drink service at the bar, no table service at all (not even for water). And a large group of rowdy revellers busting out work party quality dance moves on the floor. We enjoyed our cruise almost in spite of things rather than because of them. Negatives: - manager seemed frazzled and confused most of the time - our cruise left 20 minutes late (but arrived back exactly on time) - the dining room was FREEZING! - debit/credit machines fragged out just when everyone on board needed to settle bar tabs - there were lots of staff wandering around but no one at all seemed to be doing any actual serving - the boat itself, the Mariposa Belle, has seen much better days (carpets threadbare, generally a bit run down looking) Positives: - the view of the harbour and the downtown lights was lovely - so were the pretty red lights that decorated the boat - the food was fine (and who expects more than that on this sort of dinner cruise?) - the wine wasn't nearly as overpriced as I expected, considering that we were hostages to only one source of booze ($25-29 a bottle) We were seated on the upper level, which was MUCH nicer than the lower level (cramped, a bit muggy, and somehow reminiscent of the wood-panelled basements I spent so much time in during high school). The downside of being upstairs is that you're called later (much, much later) for food, but there was no shortage of that, so it worked out ok. I'd definitely recommend requesting the upper level when you book. read more

Boat - The boat is nothing fancy - it's clean, although could use an upgrade in aesthetic. Food - In my opinion the eggs were watery, waffles were hard and the selection was very limited. The fruit and cereal was good, but for $52.95 + HST, you expect more. Onboard Staff - The staff were kind, courteous and nice, although, they did not advise people when they were ordering drinks that this is not included in your fare. Don't be surprised when you get a bill. Views - The views of the city and skyline were beautiful and the weather was great. Customer Service / Online Booking - our family booked for the trip and as we started to book, halfway through, the boat seats sold out. We tried and called customer service but they refused to add extra seats citing they couldn't make any changes as it was sold out. When we arrived, we find out, we had a table that could seat 10 people and were weren't 10 people. As we looked around parties of 2 were being seated at tables that could seat 4 and parties of 5 or more were being seated at tables that could seat 10. It's such wasted space and they lost business because customer service refused to make adjustments. read more

We were excited to take a harbour tour of Toronto, we had a good experience in Seattle. Unfortunately I can't say Mariposa Cruises were great. The cruise was in mandarin, no heads up on this. The English headsets were faulty and dirty(covers on the ear phones were brown because of dirt) to top it off a tour bus of pushy tourist were onboard. Good, but could have been much better. Enjoyable cruise around the Toronto Islands, and the shrimp cocktail (extra, and you had to order it in advance) was great. However, the regular meal (included in the price), was a buffet with salmon (badly overdone), roast beef (the rarest part was medium-well), and chicken (which was quite good). On a hot day on July 26, 2019, my wife and I decided to take the two o'clock tour on the Oriole. We got a discounted price for seniors that was real nice. We wanted to cool off on the boat, see the Toronto harbour and take photos of the sights. We had seats on the upper deck. After the boat left the dock, the public address system broadcast historic information on what to see and look out for during the cruise. There was a family of about 10 tourists who had no interest in the sights and hearing the info over the speakers. They were involved with playing games, laughing and talking so loudly that it was impossible to hear anything. At one point I asked them politely to keep down the noise but after a few minutes they resumed their loud antics. I believe that a member of the crew should have talked to the unruly passengers and made them be quite so that other passengers could enjoy the cruise. Note: I spoke with a lady tour guide about our problem and she offered us headphones. I spoke to the captain and he said to contact Mariposa Cruises. As far as the cruise goes and the sights we saw, I would give Mariposa Cruises 5 Stars. But due to the unruly tourists yelling and laughing loudly the whole cruise to the point we could not hear what was broadcast over the speakers, I give Mariposa Cruises only 1 Star. I doubt my wife and I will take this cruise again. Sorry. read more

This was an absolute scam and a waste of time and money. There was no air conditioning anywhere on the boat so it was uncomfortably hot and stuffy throughout. We did the evening cruise and did not even eat the food because it looked so disgusting and I'm not interested in getting food poisoning. In addition to this, all the alcoholic beverages served here are VERY watered down. Ordered a Long Island iced tea and tasted no alcohol whatsoever. So I basically paid $10 for a coke. We ordered wine as well and it tasted like water. On top of all this the staff was very rude and not attentive at all. So disappointed. read more

Went on here for a sunset dinner buffet cruise on the Matthew Flanders. Had an amazing time. Staff were super nice & accommodating. Food was pretty good & drinks were great. The views on the boat at sunset & the skyline at night were beautiful. The DJ wasn't bad, but for some reason I guess the groups there that night weren't into dancing, so the party never really got started, but I still had a really good time and it was 100% worth it to go! read more

Me and my friend paid $50 for the Matthew Flinders vessel, and we are more than disappointed. Mariposa Cruises advertises the cruise as a classy showboat, but it is far from one. Very misleading. More like a s**tshow, with vile "music" with profanity and a trashy nightclub feel looping around Harborfront lake area, rather than a classy boat cruise. The food isn't any better: their advertised "buffet" isn't even a buffet at all! You only get one plate with someone scooping food for you and you only get one drink. Pasta was stale and the chicken was bland. We couldn't even get a refill for juice. And the desserts are Costco cookies and brownies that they handed out. I bet all of that food only costs less than $10 per person to make. The washrooms were filthy and small too. All of that for 50 dollars? Quite the profit margin there by ripping people off like that. I can spend that $50 at the Keg Mansion with bigger portions and delicious high-quality food. You don't get what you pay for in this "boat cruise". If it isn't a classy boat cruise the first place, then don't mislead others thinking so. I would never recommend and it was NOT worth my $50, which isn't cheap. 0/5 stars! Mariposa Cruises. What a beautiful sounding name. It evokes images of a majestic boat cruise along the waters, a time to sit back and enjoy the view. In reality, I found myself upon a mobile nightclub with screeching rap and dance "music" I do my utmost to avoid, but here it was, graphic lyrics and swearing so loud that I could not hear the person beside me. What an utter lack of class and respect shown to the people paying good money to attend a "cruise." But that was not all. As we kept looping around this nautical torture chamber, surely we would get hungry at some point. For $50.00 you would expect a reasonable buffet, but instead we were given tickets for one measly meal and somehow the cost did not cover even one refill of fruit juice. If you're looking for a classy boat cruise, this place is still in the process of sweeping their decks with some hardcore bleach to remove all the scum aboard; and if you're the seasick type, stick to your land-based nightclubs, it's the same deal anyway. read more

Took my father on a lunch cruise with Mariposa Cruises for Father's Day. $150 for the pair of us. Buffet was definitely extremely underwhelming, pasta was bland, frozen and reheated type bagel bites, chicken, a couscous salad which was somewhat alright, and ribs (the meat was not cooked well and did not taste fresh at all). Our waitress told us to go down to the lower level to get dessert and mentioned they forgot to announce it. I waited in a long line up only to be standing in front of empty platters with many other guests. When I and other guests asked for desserts to be restocked (costco brownies etc cut up into small pieces), and fruits, I was told there was no more coming out?! My waitress also forgot to bring us our drinks both times and I had to go to the bar and request for them myself. The boat was not completely booked and yet they ran out of food? I did however get some nice pictures of the skyline and waterfront but I could have easily taken those from the Ferry. I would suggest putting together a picnic from home, or picking up take-out and taking the ferry to the island over spending money on a cruise which has no intentions of offering their guests a quality meal and experience. Horrible experience, but my father appreciated the thought and intention of wanting to take him out on the lake for a nice father's day afternoon. Hello I went on the dinner cruise last night it was very hot no A/C they had one fan and they put it beside a table of 5 ladys when there was older people there that should of had it the food was great but the roast was over cooked it was my husbands birthday and we are in are 50 and there was a lot of people on the ship was even older then us and we had to sit there and listen to Rap all evening the DJ was really bad I don't think I would ever go on that cruise again I talked to a few people on the ship and they agree that the Dj was bad Thank you read more

I booked a private cruise on the Rosemary for a surprise party for my about a month before the date of the party. I was very impressed with the speed at which my emails were answered and information was available. I had been searching around with other cruise companies in the harbour and none were as professional and helpful as Mariposa. We went for a 3.5 hr cruise around the lake, which was amazing despite the somewhat rainy weather. The onboard staff were very courtesy and professional. We had drink tickets and a cash bar, which worked out very well, the prices were reasonable. For food we ordered the Shops Ahoy cocktail menu with a cheese and cracker station, an assortment of hors d'oeuvres and a roast beef carving station. The cheese plate was alright, the hors d'oeuvres were very good but the roast beef was delicious. They let us bring in our own desserts which was nice. My only issue with the cruise was the music wasn't very loud but I suspect it was due to it just not being turned up enough. The Rosemary just has a sound system, no DJ so we brought our own music on phones and ipods. Overall, everyone was very satisfied with the party and I would definitely recommend Mariposa cruise lines! We had a wonderful time! read more

I went last night with my boyfriend for the winter cruise, Saturday Nov23 and we had a great time. The food was very good and lots of it including various mains, salad, desserts, cake, cookies, fruit and teas :) i really like the atmosphere and the music was also good being top 40s. If I were to make one suggestion is that it should go until 12am minimum.. 7-11 seems long but by the time the food comes out closer to 8 and then dessert/ tea its already 9:30 .. by the time the music kicks off and get louder and such the boat is back for 10:30 in which the lights come on and the staff are putting everything away and cleaning up.. i get it they want to go home and are keeping up with the mess and place looking nice but I wish i could have had another tea and relaxed even when the boat docked... or better yet the music shouldnt have stopped then, it really felt like ok time to go home. sure save some gas and dock at 10:30 but its very expensive to be on broad it shouldnt feel like its time to leave and everyone getting their coats on. my boyfriend and i wanted to go out dancing afterwards. anyways 12 -1 would be ideal even if was at the dock at that time and cruised throughout dinner... but over all we had a great time and the staff were very polite read more
