For an entire WEEK this office has been sending me non-stop text, reminding me about an appointment tomorrow. Last week, I called for the soonest appt., was placed on hold after they RUN your insurance. They ask you what type of insurance you have before they even send you the link to fill out any paperwork. But they wait until less than 24 hours before an appointment to let me know that they DO NOT accept my insurance coverage. Offering to "refer" me to another provider. When they could have done that when I called them last week(Monday). It takes them an entire week, to notify you that they do not accept the coverage they take over the phone, when scheduling the appointment. If they did not catch it then, then it certainly should have been evident when they received the completed forms. That is a glimpse into how they run their practice. When it comes to something as sensitive for most patients as Dental Work-the Dentist period... You use your own discernment to advise if you want an office that aren't competent enough to complete something as simple as a new patient registration, in your mouth with instruments. Because just as that was missed, they could have overlooked one of my allergies that were written on the same form as my dental insurance coverage. As a result, I wouldn't trust any place they referred me to either. read more

Worst dental visit of my life. After having a crown placed, continuing to use my old retainer (and needing a new one) my bite is misaligned. I had files transferred from my old Dentist per Dr. Walsh's request, including Invisalign (which took 1.5 mo to transfer as it needed signatures & Dr. Walsh works 1 day/week). I waited for review of the files once the transfer was complete- I didn't hear back. I mentioned this at my next cleaning. Dr. Walsh wasn't there & the dentist said they'd have Dr. Walsh call me the following day. I never heard from him, so the next week I called but had to leave a voicemail -requesting a review of my dental records as my bite continued to feel misaligned/uncomfortable. I didn't hear back, called again, this time scheduling an appt for a bite evaluation or a new Invisalign retainer. I was excited for the appt. as the misalignment had been an issue for a year. Dr. Walsh walked into the appointment annoyed from the start. He told me that me having daily awareness & thoughts that my bite is off center is 'a mental issue' & I 'should see a therapist'. He also repeated 'I'm not being a smartass' multiple times. This was something he conveyed before doing any examination. I was mortified & shocked a dentist would speak to any patient this way, especially given the fact I was trusting him to care for me. From the start he'd decided he had no interest in hearing or believing anything I was saying, and labeling me a 'hysterical woman'. It seems outdated a dentist would have such misogynistic viewpoints in 2026. He the told me 'if you want to tell me something thats actually a problem with your bite then go ahead but you are explaining nothing to me' after I explained the issue in several ways. He continued to belittle & talk down to me, even seeing that I was visibly upset. The only examination he actually did was using articulating paper (begrudgingly) halfway through the appointment. He did not ask any questions, he didn't try and understand my issue at any point, nor did he provide any solutions. He told me 'Invisalign cannot fix a bite' and 'the fact this has been going on for 1 year tells me you don't have a bite issue'. Disappointing, considering I tried getting in touch w/ him repeatedly, took the time to transfer my records/Invisalign files.. all while having a newborn baby at home... Dr. Walsh should probably consider the fact his patients have major life changes taking place in their personal life, instead of creating excuses for his own egocentric and false narrative. Dr. Walsh is someone who is unable to take accountability for his lack of follow-through patients who genuinely need dental help. He will be committed to misunderstanding any issue you have, based on his mood that day. Dr. Walsh - do better. Be a kind person, not one who makes someone leave your office in tears due to how you talked down to them. It seems you are the one who needs a therapist. And perhaps a new career. read more

I recently broke my front tooth and had it bonded by Dr. Walsh. And within two weeks after the procedure the tooth became yellow which was very noticeable as my other front teeth are pretty white. So went back and Dr. Walsh, he stated he didn't know why this happened and offered to redo the tooth at no charge. Although he didn't charge me the second time, they charged my insurance company which I felt was a bit unethical but didn't mention it - I was just grateful to have the tooth white again and matching the others. About a month after the second time the tooth was bonded, it too turned noticeably yellow. I reached out to the office to explain the issue, and I was told I could come in and have Dr. Walsh take a look but I'd be charged for a visit. Charged for the visit? I was floored that they would charge me to have them take a look at they work that was unsatisfactory - for the second time! I really had hope they'd do right by me seeing how this issue has been a huge inconvenience and I feel a bit a bit self-conscious now that my front tooth, once white, is now dark yellow. I'm now in a situation where I need to find another dentist who I can trust to fix this issue. I'm very disappointed as I really wanted to continue being a patient with City Dental. read more

I love City Dental because they always get me in and get me out. My last appointment was at 7am. I arrived at 6 minutes after and was done by 7:40am. Crystal is nice as always. Our conversations always keep my mind occupied and Dr. Walsh is great as well. He's very nice and straight to the point always making sure your teeth and gums are in great condition. I've been here for years and will continue to use their outstanding services. read more

This place is a disorganized mess. I called to schedule a cleaning and exam for tooth pain. They cancelled on me an hour before my appointment because the hygienist couldn't come to work that day. They then rescheduled me a week later. I decided to give it a shot assuming that this wouldn't happen twice in a row. I was very wrong! I show up for my second appointment and they said they couldn't clean my teeth that day, only look at my tooth pain. I even called them 48 hours before my second appointment to make sure we were definitely good to go so that I wouldn't be waiting another week dealing with tooth pain. I wish I could write a review on their services but I never got the chance to receive them. Other practices in this area may have less availability but they are reliable! read more

I have been going to Dr. Walsh for a few years now. Typically, I don't like or trust dentists, but that is totally the opposite with him and this practice! The hygienists are top notch - gentle, caring and personable. The office staff is responsive and makes every attempt to fit you in and work with your schedule. They greet you warmly on arrival and the wait is always negligible. Dr. Walsh is just an overall great guy!! He has a great chair side manner and thoroughly explains everything, along with recommendations. I trust him and this practice implicitly. They truly have a patient for life and I highly recommend them. read more

I would truly not recommend yall to come here. The dental hygienist diagnosed me with "gum disease" and said she can't clean my teeth unless i went to a periodontist claiming that it would be "insurance fraud" if she did a regular cleaning on my teeth. I then got a second opinion from another reputable dentist and they said my teeth were fine, slightly deeper pockets lower left all the way back but could be maintained with 4-6 month recalls. Prior to coming here I was at Skyview dentistry in uptown for years and they never diagnosed me with ANY problems. The only reason I switched was because my dental insurance changed but now that it's been changed back to what I had before, I'm going back to Skyview. So yea, do NOT come here because these people aren't trustworthy at all. With so many other options in the city of Charlotte I don't see any benefit coming here. The facility is old and honestly doesn't even feel updated when you're there. Spare yourself the trouble. read more

Cosmetic dentistry at best. I found a lack of thorough exam & recommendation for a night guard. My initial impression was to find a new dentist for my next cleaning, it wasn't until my next visit in San Francisco with my new provider that I realized they missed so much & cost me larger issues with time elapsing. My new dentist compared the previous x Ray in front of me & showed me! Jesse also left a piece of a filling remaining. When I showed Jesse my nightguard, he said the approach went against what he was taught in dental school. Since then, I've learned it's the best approach for not clenching to have material in the guard in the front vs back. Go with a seasoned dentist. They request yelp reviews right after your visit, so I feel the reviews.. like the service are not thorough. If you want free whiting gel.. this is your place. read more

Dr. Walsh and his staff are simply fantastic; honest, courteous, punctual, and professional. I ended up in his office because my insurance made me change and I could not be happier that I did. My wife and kids love him as well and his office is clean and conveniently located in Dilworth. All the dental hygienists are great with my kids and they do a thorough job with the cleanings without being over bearing. At this point we have had many visits over the past few years for everything from routine cleanings to tooth extractions, to crown and veneer work. This place is very professional and a good value for the high quality services they provide. I have even had Dr. Walsh recommend to me alternatives to expensive treatments which saved me a lot of money (he could have made money from me but was honest). I absolutely love going to the dentist. I know.. I'm weird. But the experience I had this morning has blown away any other experience I've had in Charlotte. My appointment was for 7am and I arrived around 6:45am. (Pro tip - the elevator doesn't work until about 6:50am, so keep that in mind.) I can't recall the name of the lady at reception but she was very friendly for it to be that early! I filled out my paperwork and was promptly taken into the exam room where x-rays were done. Of course, x-rays are probably the most uncomfortable part of the entire experience (bite wings to be specific.) My hygienist made me feel so comfortable and carried conversation with me! My cleaning went by quickly, most likely due to me watching the television attached to my chair :) Dr. Jesse Walsh came in and did his thing and he was very friendly! He was honest and made everything easy to understand. Oh! They also provide free whitening for LIFE! In a nutshell, City Dental is the most personal and friendly dentist office in Charlotte. I've found a new home and I wish I could come back for a cleaning more than once every six months! I have no cons.. literally can't think of anything. Two thumbs up. 6 stars. I'll be telling all of my friends. Another pro tip - Duck Donuts is right next door. But don't go there until AFTER you see Dr. Walsh. read more

I have not had the pleasure of attending this facility but my daughter has. My only experience so far with this place is the front office. On numerous occasions my daughter has told me how rude the front desk is specifically a Maria. She said the nurse and the doctor are good but that the front desk is rude. They talked down to her and they criticize her. I received a phone call about a payment that the office wanted for a procedure that hasn't happened yet. They called and texted me every day for three days. When I finally got the woman on the phone she had canceled the appointment for my daughter. I found her to be very rude. When I asked to have the doctor call me she said that won't happen he won't talk to you. So I'm guessing the doctor is not concerned about his practice. read more

I went to this dentist for a regular cleaning, they said i had my first cavity and my primary and secondary insurance will cover it to be filled 100% no questions asked. Also to be said my pervious dentist and my current dentist have no idea how they came up with saying i have a cavity. 6 months pass and they start the every day harrasing phone calls saying my insurance rejected payment. To which i call my insurance and its all current and no problems. And now 2 years later they sent me to collections for something they said i would never have to pay for! City Dental has a small town feel and everyone on the staff made me feel like a valued customer. They did a great job catering to my individual dental needs. This place is a hidden gem of a dentistry! The hygienist was very professional, nice, and explained everything she was doing. Also, you know that you have gotten a good one, when you leave the dentist and your teeth and gums are not sore at all! The dentist, then came in, and was very professional as well. Explaining to me work that needed to be done. However, very pleasingly, was not pushy at all, unlike many other dentists around. Before leaving, I was given a quote for the work done with what my insurance will cover and what I would exactly need to pay out of pocket. I am throughly pleased, and even more surprised to say that I cannot wait to go back to get a cleaning. read more

This place is very impersonable. Although the girl who cleaned my teeth was very nice, I don't remember her name but she had a corner office and went to UNC. Receptionist was rude. The first visit they rushed me in and out and my teeth hurt for over a month after that visit. Second visit the assistant was not doing his job, which left me with a mouth full of spit and toxic shavings from old cavities. Was there for an hour and the dentist never explained anything. This was not entirely a friendly place. None of the assistants or front desk personnel were rude, but I never felt a personal connection was ever attempted. The Dentist who worked on me in particular seemed competent enough, but was very short and lacked in the department of explaining anything. While I am educated, I'm no dental whiz and he seemed very disconnected in ensuring I left the office understanding what care I needed to continue providing beyond simple brushing and flossing. Every aspect of my visit was 5 stars! The waiting area was very pleasant, the receptionist was polite and friendly and it smelled like a spa because they had an oil diffuser going. I only got to enjoy it for about 2 minutes though because that's all I had to wait for my appointment which was a nice change! My hygienist, Crystal, was super friendly and did a very thorough job cleaning my teeth with no discomfort. We shared several laughs about an episode of The Office which was playing in the background- the dental chair has a tv attached to it (yes- a TV! Swanky!) Next, Dr. Jesse Walsh came to do my exam. Dr. Walsh has an impressive academic background and he is super friendly, funny and approachable. The icing on the cake is they offer free whitening trays for life! I recently visited City Dental with Dr Jesse and couldn't be happier to have them as my dental crew. Linda, the hygienist was extremely thorough with my cleaning and even did a Cancer screening, which I had never had done before. Dr Jesse was wonderful as well. Explained my options for tweaking my Invisalign treatment that I had completed with my previous dentist but still had some minor work to be done. Outstanding practice! I have had an over-the-top fear of the dentist since I was 18 and tend to wait years between visits, but I knew I had to bite the bullet and go when I started having some tooth pain. My husband goes to Dr. Valenta, and he convinced me to go as well. I'm SO glad I did! 1st - the staff is wonderful! They are professional, personable, and accommodating. Every time I go in, I feel like I'm talking with my own friends. 2nd - the office is comfortable. The decor is beautiful, modern, and welcoming. It doesn't feel cold and sterile. So you're able to relax a little. 3rd - Dr. Valenta's interaction with his staff is great. You can sense the mutual respect and it's comforting to have that kind of positive energy around, especially when you're afraid. 4th - Dr. Valenta is great. He is very reassuring and attentive. He communicates well and really listens. He talks with you and not at you. This is my second time there and I've consistently had the best experience! I loved how the dental hygienist made sure to regularly water and vacuum my mouth.
