Specifically, my room rate included mini-bar service, yet was never refilled during my stay. Addotionally, I was disappointted to find that the Mujeres Latina marichi group---one of the Hotel's primary entertainment highlights-- has been replaced by a lower-level performance mariachi. Our flight arrived early, and the hotel was able to accommodate us with an early check-in around 11:00 a.m., which was greatly appreciated after traveling. The hotel felt very safe throughout our stay. Since it was hosting the South Korean national team, there was additional security, road closures, and a noticeable National Guard and police presence, which added to the sense of security. As a Marriott Platinum member, we received complimentary breakfast vouchers each morning. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of options, and there were also à la carte items available for an additional charge. The room was comfortable for two adults. Our view overlooked a nearby apartment complex on the east side, so it wasn't anything special, but it wasn't an issue since we spent most of our time exploring the city. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was its excellent location. It was an easy walk to Expo Guadalajara, where the official World Cup shuttle buses departed for Estadio Akron, making transportation to World Cup matches very convenient. One unexpected highlight was finding a hot dog and hamburger cart near the OXXO on the northeast side of the hotel after looking for late-night tacos. The food was surprisingly good and worth checking out if you're hungry after the nearby restaurants have closed. The only disappointing part of our stay was the bar experience. The bartender was not particularly welcoming. On two separate occasions, he approached us to tell us that outside food and drinks were not allowed in the common seating area near the bar. While I understand the policy, the interactions felt unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. One night we ordered two drinks while watching a World Cup match at the bar, and the bill came to about 600 pesos, which felt overpriced for what we received. One thing to keep in mind is the price. During the World Cup, rates were close to $1,000 USD per night, which I don't think would have been worth paying out of pocket. Fortunately, we redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points, making the stay an excellent value. Overall, I would stay here again if I'm ever in the area. Helpful front desk staff, comfortable accommodations, and the Platinum breakfast benefit. If the bar service were friendlier and the drink prices more reasonable, it would have been an easy five-star stay.

It is part of the luxurious Quinta Real brand, which often places their hotel properties in historical buildings. The Guadalajara property was actually built in 1986, but constructed as a traditional colonial-style hacienda on land once owned by the Martinez family. It has been described as an oasis, and that is a perfect impression. When you step inside, you're enclosed by high stone walls, reminiscent of a castle or palazzo, surrounded by lush gardens, birdsong, splashing fountains, antiques, and artwork by artists such as Sergio Bustamante. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in and elegant indoor/outdoor restaurant. Everything is hushed and refined, in direct contrast with the noise and traffic just outside the doors. The very best part of the experience, however, was the impeccable, accommodating, and kind staff. We both felt so pampered, without any sort of stiffness. ours was a truly wonderful stay and we cannot recommend the Quinta Real enough.
