Woooowwww, I've discovered the 2 for 1 special (bringing both cats in at the same time)!! I'm never going back to only bringing 1 cat at a time, if I can help it. I had an appointment for BOTH Bruno & Bird for their annual check ups. We met with Dr. Flynn who gave them both so much love & attention & care. The quality of the visit was not at all affected by the doubling of the cats. With the help of the amazing tech, Dr. Flynn gave them both their shots & there was not a single hiss or growl to be heard. Dr. Flynn noted a few health issues with both cats that I'll be keeping a close eye on, but we did also celebrate that my big boy cat Bruno has lost a WHOLE ENTIRE POUND since his last visit! The vet congratulated him but also congratulated me on being a good pet parent & I must admit, the validation felt amazing. We did it, buddy! I have been coming to City Kitty with my babies since they were 8 1/2 weeks old. Mookie and Marley siblings are ragdolls. They will be 14 in November. We also rescued a third ragdoll and also bring her to our favorite Veterinary Mocha needs extra love she was rescued from a hoarding situation and had to have dental work as well as fix her stomach issues. The kitties may not be so excited however I have the utmost confidence in City Kitty with my babies. Vet tech always friendly and helpful. I had a phenomenal experience at City Kitty. Sky at the desk was friendly and efficient. She went above and beyond for a customer who needed help carrying two cats out to her car in the rain! Talk about great service. I appreciated that we were immediately brought to a room and my cat was able to take some time to explore before our CVT, Susan, came in. Susan was knowledgeable and did a great job handling my cat with care. She used fear free techniques to keep my cat comfortable and safe during her exam. Susan is fantastic! She checked me out in the exam room which limited our time in the lobby. Dr. Lund was incredible. She was so warm and listened carefully to my concerns about my cat and collaborated with me to craft a thoughtful plan. We are so lucky to have her in our community to provide care to our cats. I had two extremely stressful experiences with City Kitty involving international travel paperwork for my cat. The first incident happened in 2024, when I was preparing to take my cat back to China. I brought my cat in according to the required timeline and followed their instructions. They lost my cat's blood test sample. I only found out after waiting for a whole week and calling them myself. Because of this, my mother and I had to change our flights, and there was no compensation for the extra costs. Unfortunately, a very similar situation happened again this year. I brought my cat on June.22nd according to the timeline they recommended. I was repeatedly told by staff, including the manager and the technician handling my case, that everything would be fine and that I would receive the electronic documentation before my departure. I was told it would take 2-3 business days, and the certificate will expire after July.1st. I called again last Friday，June 26th and was reassured again. By Monday June.29th, I still had no document and no meaningful update, even though my flight was scheduled to depart on Tuesday June.30th. The delay was not caused by me. I provided the correct flight number, but they entered the wrong departure date without confirming it with me. The veterinarian handling the case did not properly communicate the urgency to the rest of the team. When I contacted the clinic, I was repeatedly told by the director that she did not know the case and had not handled this type of situation before. This was not a small mistake. It directly affected my travel plans, my housing situation, and my ability to leave with my cat. Because of their error, we no longer had a place to stay and had to wait for the issue to be resolved. There was no compensation, no clear apology, and no proactive communication. I had to keep calling and pushing for updates. As an international customer, I felt dismissed and not taken seriously. I would not recommend using City Kitty for international travel documentation if your trip depends on accurate timing and careful handling. read more

If you have a cat in Rhode Island, this is the place you should take them to. I was trying to choose vets for my cat and could not decide due to so many places and bad reviews. This place had the most positive reviews that I've read and I am so glad I chose them. I had to take my 13 year old cat for a check in due to dramatic weight loss and it was a great experience here. I think I had more anxiety taking him to a vet than he was being there. The ambiance is very nice, front desk staff was friendly and got me into a room right when I got there. I love that its a cats only vet so there are no curious dogs around and my little cat wasn't freaked out. My vet tech, Susan, was amazing. She and the vet had a very calming presence which I believe helped my cat tremendously. He was already terrified as it was but the two ladies made him feel so safe/comfortable and did amazing with the physical exam. They showed me the bill to make sure it would be in my budget and were great with instructions. They do charge an $80 fee just to see your cat but I think its worth it and they got me an appointment within a week of calling. I highly recommend if you have a cat, to consider taking them here. I can't say enough good things about the quality of care and first impression I got from City Kitty. I switched from a prior practice who had to "ask a dr" and call me back (which often never happened) for every single question I called about, especially to request any appointments which often booked weeks out. The atmosphere at the prior practice was very sterile, with often extremely long wait times in an uncomfortable, dark and drab waiting area, because they had 'no rooms available' even despite a booked time slot. City Kitty? The complete opposite. I called and spoke to someone immediately, extremely friendly, without needing to wait on hold. I got an appointment for just a few days away for a new pet intake. They called and got records for me on my behalf. Going in the office, my first impression was WOW. Art on the walls, lots of decorations, bright and sunny area, no 'sterile' commercial art that feels so boring and neutral and unwelcoming. Even the exam room looked nice, professional and welcoming. I was immediately greeted at the desk asking if I was there for [my pet's name]. Zero waiting and immediately went into the exam room. A really helpful tech came in in just a few minutes and took an insanely thorough intake asking tons of questions about my cat. Dr Lund came in and spent so much time with me and my cat, giving so much information and answering all my questions. Most importantly, my cat's ear problem was fixed virtually same-day with the treatment Dr Lund did, something that the prior practice I went to refused to do after 'waiting and seeing' for nearly a month with several expensive appointments. The cost of care at City Kitty is comparable, but lower to other practices I've been to. But given that the quality seems so much better, I'm super happy. City Kitty even called a few days ago checking up on my cat to see how he was doing. This has literally never happened to me before, except in the case of a hospitalization. Recently I had to put my 21 year old cat, KC, down. He had spent 18 of those 21 year with me and in the care of City Kitty. For the most part it was just routine visits. There were a few health hurdles, but the Drs and concerned staff managed to bring him through and they continued to monitor a kidney issue that enabled KC to live a long, active and very affectionate life. The last several months of his life he was obviously in decline. When he reached a point he wasn't eating, lost 5lbs, I knew it was time. I made arrangements with City Kitty to euthanize my buddy. When I arrived, the staff, who all were aware of our appointment, were compassionate and despite being busy quickly ushered us into a room. A friend suggested I bring my newest girl here. It's close to home which is great when you have a protesting cat next to you. This is a strictly kitty place so no fears of a doggie scaring your kitties. I'm a new cat momma, so I am always worried I am doing the wrong thing for my kitty. I panicked when I couldn't get Aoife (my kitty) in her carrier in time for her morning appointment. The vet tech who answered the phone calmed me down and let me know it was ok and that I could pick up a Zen Pack (akin to an airport gate side cocktail for cats) to calm her down. I was able to still bring her in the same day in the afternoon! Once Aoife and I came, we were greeted warmly and brought into our own little exam room attached to the waiting area (which is super adorable with tons of natural light and tasteful cat themed decor). There another vet tech went over all the information I had previously submitted and was so sweet with my Aoife. She needed a few tests and flea/heart worm medication, but overall had a pretty good bill of health! Before they performed any tests or shots, I got a cost breakdown and got a full explanation of each part. I never felt pressured or shamed about how I was caring for her, instead I was given some suggestions on what I could change if I wanted to. I bought the medication and they even showed me how to apply it so Aoife wouldn't be able to lick it (if cats were allowed to audition for Cirque de Soleil she would be first in line). I have never had a cat before, my family always had dogs, so I was really nervous about the cat learning curve but City Kitty made everything so easy! Dr. Cathy Lund and her team are amazing. Money: Off the bat, I will say that this clinic is not cheap, but it is SO worth it. I have never regretted a single payment to this practice because the entire staff here has proven time after time that they care for my cats. Can I try and look elsewhere for a cheaper vet? Sure. Will I be able to commit this level of trust to another vet? Absolutely not. At the end of the day, I'm happy as a client as long as my cats are happy and healthy. If the money ends up providing more resources, training, staffing, etc to the practice, then I'm completely for that. The veterinary world is a tough field to navigate, and I'm happy to support this business. Care and Treatment: I have two cats that I've brought here as kittens for 5 years now. One is RATCHET at the vet and the other has pre-existing conditions that's left her with one kidney. Both have received the utmost, fabulous care that I could possibly ask for. I'm working through feline herpes with one right now and god, I can't thank City Kitty enough. I've become helicopter cat mom and they have provided me such reassurance both at my visit and over the phone multiple times through this week now. They always, always get me an appointment right away and is able to fit me in last minute on various occasions. The techs call me as a follow-up and this is something that I've just never experienced at any other vets. Shout-outs to my techs: I have met with all three vets, Drs. I went to 2 other vets before taking my Siberian kittens to City Kitty several years ago. One vet shoved pills down the kitten's throat too roughly, and at the next place the vet told me she disliked cats and was really a "dog person" . Really? Both highly acclaimed vets in Providence. City Kitty was highly recommended by 3-4 friends, and although getting there was a pain, (they recently moved to a far better location with parking and a brighter cheerier place) I finally took my babies there. They only deal with cats, and so the lobby is much calmer with no dogs barking or crying. The comfort level there is high, both for me AND my kittens. Everyone there loves cats and you see it and feel it. The doctors are all soft spoken and listen to you as you tell them whats wrong or just for an annual check up. The vet techs all remember the cats and when I bring them in for a nail trim, or to remove a mat (spa time! - LOL) they all hug them and soothe them. I have been lucky as I have mostly gone for annual shots and monthly nail trim and mat removal. But I would not hesitate to recommend the doctors and their skills and genuine care with your cats. Pat care is expensive no matter where you go, but you should always ask before you go in what a exam costs, blood work etc if needed. That is just common sense. Highly recommend them!!!! read more

I went home, did some quick research, and almost immediately booked an appointment because they have such great reviews. Now, I can personally vouch for them that they deserve the amazing reviews! The entire staff at City Kitty is so friendly, from how they talk to clients over the phone to how they so obviously deeply care and love cats! I was a little weary at first letting Lana go inside a building with people neither of us have ever met (curbside service still), but I think she actually came out of the appointment more relaxed than she went in! I would recommend City Kitty to anyone within driving distance of it. They have such an amazing staff who cares about you and your feline friend. It's a nice place , staff Very friendly and polite. My cat was limping for a few days . They did a good job , but nothing extraordinary. They did a brief physical exame and took X rays . Nothing broken . They prescribed analgesics and corticosteroids and asked me to return in 1 week . They charged 500,00 and it was ok , since they did their job , it's a specific cat clinic... I was prepared for that . In one week I returned with my cat and she was ok , so much better. They did a at most 5 min exam , since she was ok . For my surprise they charged me again 80,00 . I live this veterinary office. I have been bring my cats (Valery and Zoë) to Drs. Lund and Mercurio For all their lives. I have tried going to other vets when I felt the cost was too expensive for my Research Assistant/Graduate Student budget, but the care that my kitties receive at City Kitty is completely wonderful. My most recent experience has convinced me to allow City Kitty to care for my kitties for as long as I live in RI. I'm September, our beloved Zoë was diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Mercurio was direct yet caring when she told my wife the diagnosis and the prognosis. During Zoë's illness, Dr. Mercurio remained open and honest with us, and never once did we feel that we were being gouged or forced to pursue treatment beyond our means. For instance, she clearly inurned my wife that chemotherapy or surgery yielded poor outcome. Zoë was a real trooper through her illness, withstanding monthly visits to City Kitty for antibiotics, fluids, and Meloxicam. We had been told that our kitty would have a few months with us after her diagnosis. She lived nearly six months. Dr. Palmer, the newest doc at City Kitty, handed the euthanasia. Both Dr. Palmer and her tech (I feel awful, but I cannot remember her name!) were amazing to us and Zoë during the process. It was a devastating day, but Zoë went peacefully and the staff was incredibly sympathetic. A few days after Zoë's passing, we received a card in the mail with the kindest and most reassuring words from both Dr. Mercurio and Dr. Palmer. We miss our little girl terribly, but the card helped a little lessening the pain. Now I know that veterinary care can be expensive, but I find this to be the case in general. I like taking my buddies to a vet that focuses solely on felines. Also, City Kitty offers a payment plan and I have used it several times now. It may seem silly to some, but I enjoy my cats and they deserve great care. They have received just that at City Kitty. read more

Two years later, and I'm still taking my cats here without question. I love the new doc - Dr Mercurio - and that genuinely they care so much about my kitties. The pricing can get really expensive, so watch out and be sure you ask in advance what the costs are if money is an issue. I have to say, after months of my precious boy Rufus suffering from some mysterious ailment, Dr. Lund realized it was a food allergy and put him on a special diet. He was like a kitten again, and I will be forever grateful to City Kitty for helping him. read more

The staff at City Kitty were all excellent and dealt with my cat in a compassionate and professional way. They were also excellent communicators when he was being diagnosed with hyper thyroid a couple years ago, and put me at ease. My lower rating is because of the fees they're charging for prescriptions. My cat was a client of City Kitty for about a year and a half and then we moved to another city and had to find a new vet. He has hyper thyroid, which requires medicine twice a day at no small expense to us, but obviously I want my kitty to live forever, so I will do what it takes. When we were at City Kitty, they would order the medicine, and I would pick it up there and pay them. The cost was ~$155 for a six week dose. Imagine my surprise when we went to a new vet and were told that typically people order direct from the pharmacy and have the medicine arrive to their home in the mail. What was equally surprising was that the exact same medicine arrived in the same packaging as what we got from City Kitty, and with the same pharmacy name--Roadrunner Pharmacy, and it only cost us ~$55. So City Kitty was gouging us to the tune of $100 every six weeks, and adding in the inconvenience of making me go to their location to pick up medicine that can be sent to my home. We ended up going to two new vets before we found one that was a good fit, but they both had us order our own meds online and just verified the prescription with the pharmacy via fax, which makes it seem like this is pretty common. I genuinely liked everyone I met at City Kitty, but I feel pretty sick thinking of all the extra money I spent just because I trusted them and I was worried about my kitty. I can't afford to just throw away hundreds of dollars, and I think they're exploiting people love of their cats to steal their money, which is deeply upsetting. If your cat needs regular medicine, you can order it direct from Roadrunner Pharmacy, and often they will even put a free toy in the box. I hope City Kitty rethinks this practice. read more

We've used Dr Lund and her associates at City Kitty for the 13-14 years we've owned a cat. The service is warm, loving and super friendly to humans and cats - but expensive, as most pet care is. City Kitty is a local public radio sponsor too, which we think is pretty cool. Since they only treat cats they can do fun things kitty things, like the mosaic cat entryway in the new office space on Hope Street in Providence to the cat totem and the pair of actual office cats who roam freely through the space. I do miss the old girl who would box with us at checkout! My cat developed an eye infection that we noticed at 5:30 yesterday when we came home from work. The office squeezed us in today to address it. I received two calls from them during the day. The first, within 1/2 hour of dropping my cat off, explained the issue. The second came after treatment to give me results and an update on how she was doing. In the past, we've also had next-day calls to check up on the cat - all from the doctor directly. We wouldn't take a cat or kitten anyplace else. Ever. read more

We wanted so bad to like this vet since we've been bringing our two cats here for a couple of years now and hate having to move them to a different vet, but we are forced to find a new vet after the extreme negligence we recently experienced bring our new cat there. Firstly, we were hesitant to come back here after bringing our two cats there last year for their annual exam because they had cut our cats nails in the most horrific way and had cut their nails too short which caused them pain. We think our cats were traumatized by this visit. We decided we would return there, but just never have them trim any of our cat's nails again. We recently took in a friendly, stray cat and brought him in for a full exam. While there, they told us they would remove a tick that was on him. We asked if they could also check for fleas and they said it is impossible to tell if he has fleas, but suggested we buy the flea treatment from them because he more than likely has it from being an outdoor cat. They also suggested we buy the flea treatment for our other cats (even though they know that our other cats have had no contact with the new cat and are kept in separate living areas). Dr. Mercurio told us our cat tested negative for leukemia so we decided to proceed with his vaccinations and neutering and pick him up later. An hour later, we received a call from Dr. Mercurio advising us that she had read the results wrong and he actually tested positive for leukemia. She proceeds to tell us it is a fatal disease and that he likely won't live more than two years and suggested putting him down. All of this news was delivered to us over the phone. Upset by this news, we immediately went back there to get our cat. We were charged $155 for this visit which was just a physical examination and testing for FIV and leukemia in which they messed up. They didn't neuter him and no vaccinations were given. When we brought him home, we found that the tick was still on him. Even though he was at the vet for a couple of hours, they never removed it like they had promised. After the misdiagnosis and the failure to remove the tick, we were very upset with our visit so we ended up writing to City Kitty management about all of our concerns allowing them a chance to explain and rectify the issue. Dr. Lund responded to our email and her solution was to bring him back in to be tested for leukemia again free of charge. We don't understand how she could think this solution makes sense. Why would we bring him back there for another test when we no longer trust them? How can we trust they will read the results for this test right when they couldn't read the results of the first test correctly? With these questions in mind, the only solution that made sense to us at this point is to bring our cat to a new vet and start all over and have the examination and testing done once again. This means we would have to take more time off work, spend more money, and put our cat through the stress of going to the vet once again all because of something that wasn't done correctly the first time at City Kitty. We do not have a lot of money and it wasn't easy for us to even pay for his initial visit at City Kitty, but to have to pay again to take him to another vet would cause too much of a dent in our wallet. For this reason, we responded to Dr. Lund and respectfully asked for a full refund so that we may take him elsewhere. It's been a week and they never replied or refunded us which has led us to believe that this is a money hungry business that does not care about the cats or people that come in. Yesterday, we took our cat to a different vet for the same examination and testing (without mentioning our prior visit at City Kitty). When we asked about fleas, they combed him thoroughly with a flea comb and told us he did not have fleas, whereas city kitty insisted it was impossible to tell if he had any and just wanted us to buy their flea treatment. The doctor told us he tested positive for leukemia, but was very compassionate about it and NEVER once suggested putting him down. She said he is healthy and could possibly still live a long life and is hopeful just as we are. We were charged $153 at the new vet and this included his rabies and distemper vaccination whereas City Kitty charged us $155 with no vaccinations. City Kitty is very deceiving from their appearance. They have a very nice, clean office and staff there seem friendly, however, they do not really care about the cats that come in. They are only out to make money. They overcharge for their services and have no compassion for the cats that come in. They know that they made a mistake in diagnosing our cat, but refuse to accept responsibility and rectify the issue. We will never bring any of our three cats there again and highly recommend against bringing your cats there unless you want to risk the possibility of having them misdiagnosed as well. read more

I took my cat there just for blood work and a urine sample they're miss handling of him caused him to have a TIA I took him to another vet I ask them to give him to me till there was a day that he could come in and be sedated for this blood work I waited for about 20 minutes by the time they brought him out the damage was already done the guy goes oh we got it this time I took him back they said he must've strained himself my cat is an old cat and he still got a lot of fight in him but the miss handling of him caused him to have a TIA if I could find a lawyer I would sue their ass because it was their missed treatment of my cat that did this to him I will never recommend this place and the only reason there's even one star is because they make you put it in my name is Judith Galarneau my cat is chaos read more
