Fantastic caring Clinic. Everyone thinks their dog is the best, but Greenwich Valley makes you think that your dog actually is the best.

I'm sure they are fine ethical veterinarians. But the office is sooo bad. They greet you at the door with a sign that says "stop!" And then you have to call the desk to ask permission to enter. I had to call 3 times to get someone on the phone. She told me to just wait outside because there is another animal in front of us. Okay. I mean. It's 6 minutes past my appt time but okay. So... there's a lot of construction and noise. And it's WINTER so I ask if I can sit in the car and they can call *me* when they are ready. Sure. Just watch the door for when they come out with a purple piece of paper..? Ummm. What? This office seems to really like the Covid procedures and creating barriers and annoying people. I am happy to wear a mask, stay distant whatever. But it's not the norm anymore and it's gotten so that a sign that says "STOP!" feels antagonistic. Which I think is their goal, honestly. I guess they are nice to animals. It's people that get in the way. read more

I'd been going to Greenwich Valley for years and stayed because Dr. Sheckles is outstanding. I cannot say the same for the rest of this organization. I got a call that my dog made it through surgery and they called the wrong person! My dog did not have surgery that date. Robin, vet tech, actually laughed! I was appalled! They have also misdiagnosed my babies several times but I let it go because I like Dr. Sheckles. Another vet had me put antibiotics on my dog's eye when it was a growth and not an infection. Kim Nelson, owner, would not prescribe a med that my dog takes and has been taking for over a year unless she saw him. My regular vet was out. I simply asked for a refill and "Dr" Kim would not do much as to give him a 5 day supply to keep him from hacking (nothing new!) . He has a partially collapsed trachea). I consider Nelson's refusal to simply refill a prescription to be negligent. I'd thought of leaving several times but stay because of one doctor. This past incident was the final straw! I cannot say that i would recommend this clinic! read more

I am leaving this review specifically to respond to the client who complained about having to wait in their car before entering the clinic. Thanks to a gross misdiagnosis by one of the owners of a nearby alleged state of the art emergency hospital, my dog became reactive from a spinal condition because it took me 1.5 years to have Tufts correct it. Because the pain (that surgery resolved) lasted so long, protecting his body from more pain became a habit. Not only does waiting in my car avoid his likely reaction to other dogs coming near, it minimizes the stress for him that almost all dogs feel during a visit to the vet Dr Nelson started this practice during COVID and I'm grateful that she had the wisdom to continue it. If that complaining client has a dog that is dog friendly, Dr Nelson should be thanked for protecting that client's dog from dogs like mine that are not. read more

We had a senior dog who was failing. We made an appointment to take him there to be euthanized. We waited for quite a while to see the vet. We felt that there was no compassion from the vet, felt rushed. Other friends told us how they make their final moments special. We've taken our dog there for years and this was a heartbreaking experience. We should have requested Dr. White or Dr. Courtemanche who have always been so kind. I never got the vets name, but it was an awful experience. read more

We had the most amazing experience...... my dog has part chow in him and can be mean. I was so nervous taking him to this vet because we've had bad experiences with other vets, but Dr Nelson knew exactly what to do and not to do with Dylan. I would think twice before bringing your pet here. My dog was extremely ill, and this vet whom I've been going to for a long time and have spent a lot of money at , would not take the time to look at her. My dog had passed away. The cold receptionist there could care less about my dogs health and basically was told mid next week is all she had. I would hope anyone bringing their pet here could be in the same situation when you need their help the most. They will leave your pet to pass on, because that doesnt fit into their schedule. I received a letter from this vet stating that they read my Google review (a photo of the letter as well as of our pets are included in this review-see below. Also, the blood on the top of our dog's tail is NOT from the abscess-the vet literally shaved SKIN off of his tail with the hair. He required additional medication from our new vet to treat this injury that Greenwich Valley gave him. I thought vets knew how to shave safely. Yes, the VET did that!) and that my dog was no longer a patient as a result of my review. They dropped him MID TREATMENT for an unresolved abscess and while he had a follow up appointment. We found a new, wonderful vet who very much cares for the animals and whose staff is courteous and appropriate. This is not the first issue we had with this vet. We had another dog previously, who was our world for 14 years. ON THE DAY HE WAS EUTHANIZED for congestive heart failure which the doctor stated was not treatable, I had to BEG for an appointment, once again from Nicole. My dog could not breathe, would not lie down, and was gasping for breath while Nicole tried to tell me that it was "just because he's an old Pug." I could write volumes of issues we went through with this place. I can assure you that your pet does NOT MATTER to them. Obviously money matters to them more than anything else including inept office staff, because if they cared about pets they would take steps to correct issues brought to their attention rather than send a customer who left an unfavorable review their pet's medical records while the pet is activity being treated by them for a serious infection. That's not caring about animals. That's cold and greedy and those are two characteristics I do not think anyone would want to entrust their pets' lives to. Also, our present dog whom they discharged from practice mid-treatment because of an internet review that the pet had no part of, is a 2 year old, blind American Eskimo Pomeranian mix. His name is Ralphie. He did not deserve this. My beloved Pug was Walter. He did not deserve to have to suffer as long as he did because Nicole didn't want to give him an appointment and who chose to make diagnoses over the phone, which she is not qualified to do. They make the money here at Greenwich Valley Vet, but it's your pets who pay. And they DO NOT CARE. Punishing people who leave honest reviews on Google by discharging their pets from care because of a review the pet had nothing to do with is NOT compassion for any animal. MY 4 YEAR OLD RESCUE DOG IS DEAD DUE TO GROSS MALPRACTICE. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. She was 4 years old and the love of my life. I adopted her when she was 1.5. She was diagnosed with Addison's disease last Thursday and put on prednisone. I received the lab reports, which Dr. Nelson had on Friday, today. Her creatine level was 7,573. The normal range is 10-200. She did not share the numbers when we spoke on Friday. In her message on. Friday, she said "President Kennedy had this disorder", undermining the severe condition.. She ran an additional test on Friday, never called me with the results. I called the office yesterday and did not receive a call back. At 6pm Molly suddenly died. We rushed her to Ocean State. They did two rounds of CPR and gave her two injections to try to get her heart to beat. It was too late. In addition, she had an abnormal blood test in November of 2019, which was not addressed by Dr. Landroche. There is a note that says "kidney profile?" Obviously never communicated to me or performed. I am contacting the licensing board.I ONLY received the lab reports after Molly died because I requested them. Otherwise, I am certain these outrageous numbers would never have been shared with me. I am disgusted. I will NEVER forgive myself from removing her from Dr. Leah Fischer's care at Woodriver Animal Hospital. If Molly had still been under Leah's care, she would still be here. read more

When our cat Beau was at the end of his time with us, they staff including Dr was empathetic and upfront always. And we were winey pushy and they kept on track. When I had an emergency, my dog had been attacked by another dog, we were seen immediately. Each doctor, and I've seen all of them, has been very professional and expert. I knew she was not eating and I was concerned, I got an appointment the same day. The staff from the person that took my call to the vet that examined her were all caring and compassionate. I wish I could give Dr. Kim and the Greenwich Valley Veterinary Clinic more stars! After having some awful experiences with our former vet, I had to find a new one. Enter Dr. Kim. We walked in early on a Saturday morning and we were the only people there. We have two very excited dogs (new people? new smells? YAY!!!) and the staff was down at their level playing with them the second we walked in the door. When it was time to see Dr. Kim, the first couple of minutes were spent with her getting a tongue bath from the dogs. You can tell she loves animals and they love her. She explained everything she was doing and let us decide what vaccines we wanted to give the dogs. She gives options of vaccines based on the dog's lifestyles and does not judge if you pick some and not others. She does not believe in over-vaccinating, but wants to make sure your pets are healthy. Also, when we were all done and got our bill (after several shots and tests) it was very reasonable! Dr. Kim and her staff get 8 very enthusiastic paws up! read more

I have a vet at another location. I will not name it, but I will offer one contrast that this place to my vet. A friend recommended this place to me. I decided to take a ride by to check it out. The first thing I noticed before I was even completely inside was the smell of poop and pee for lack of better words. This place is supposed to be an animal hospital. This odor was very unsettling to me. This is supposed to be a animal hospital more or less. I would expect not to smell any odors like this at a place like this. My vet is very clean and odor free, like an actual hospital. Despite this, my friend highly recommends the vets for their love of animals and their sincerity, one thing my vet seems to lack. read more

We used Greenwich Valley for about the past 5-6 years for our rescue mutt. When Dr. Sheckles discover a large tumor a weeks ago, we knew our poor guy only had a short time left. She suggested an x-ray to get a better diagnosis. Last week I took time off from work and brought my dog in for the x-ray, and asked if I could talk to Sheckles about the procedure before leaving him. Rather than discuss the matter, SHE TOOK A CUSTOMER WHO ARRIVED AFTER ME INTO AN EXAMINING ROOM AND SHUT THE DOOR!!! The receptionist informed me that Sheckles wanted me to just drop off my dog, who would then be caged, and in between appointments Sheckles planned to take care of his x-rays. I could return in a few hours to pick him up. There was just so much wrong with this whole arrangement- most of all, the fact that she saw me waiting to speak to her and couldn't be bothered to take a minute to meet with me. I am sincerely grateful for the assistance I received from Barbara, who arranged for a prescription to make my dogs last days on earth more comfortable. And I am profoundly disappointed in Dr. Sheckles. read more

I have to say that I am disappointed. I am a new customer and waited months for an appt. Then, I wanted to stay on my pet's current medication for flea/tick and heartworm. They did not carry it, but gave me a paper prescription--which it turns out is no good in RI since there are no pet pharmacies. Then, they refused to approve it over the phone with the mail order pet pharmacy because "it's not their policy to do that, it takes too much time". Mailing it in takes 2 weeks to get the meds and my dog needed it in a week. They actually told me to go back to my old vet to get it filled (and that isn't possible since my dog's checkup was not with them!). I just felt as if they did not have my dog's health as their first priority. They knew a paper script was useless in RI and did not say "this could be tough to fill." Honestly I don't think that's a vet I want when they don't care about helping a customer or a pet. read more

I've been to a number of vets in the last few months, all of them not knowing how to help my extremely sneezy and coughing cat. Many of them said that "This was just how he is" after I spent a ton of money, and sent me on my way. This was the first vet to have a plan, and a back up for if things didn't go right. I've been bringing my Dog to this veterinary clinic for a few years now. The facility is extremely clean at all times. The front desk staff is unmatched. They are knowledgeable, efficient, professional and really friendly. My calls are always answered promptly and there is minimal hold time. I've seen both the male and female vet. They are both very good vets, however, the female's bed side manner is better and I prefer to see her. They are not like other vets that constantly nickel and dime you and jump to recommend costly procedures. I've never had to wait to get in to see a vet and and I have never had to wait long upon arrival. Can't recommend this clinic enough. read more
