Great little space. Not crowded and very clean. Got to see a move on opening day and it was busy but not packed.

WARNING!! DO NOT see Killers of the Flower Moon at Coming Attractions Theater in Newport Oregon! At least not until the Taylor Swift concert stops playing there. I love Taylor Swift as much as the next person, but it completely ruined the movie for me! The Newport theater put Taylor Swift in the theater right next to Killers of the Flower Moon and the constant thundering music rattled right through the walls. I asked the personnel to turn down Taylor two different times, each time they turned the music down for around 10 to 15 minutes then turned it right back up. This is the first bad experience I've ever had at CA Newport, just wanted to warn others so you don't see Killers of the Flower Moon until Taylor Swift is over. read more

On the outskirts of Newport is a 7 screen cinema playing the latest releases. This is the little known family chain of CA Theaters. C A which stands for coming attractions and is mostly coastal towns in Oregon, Washington, and California. The theater has stadium seating so it's keeping up with the times and the prices were $7.00 for adults before 5pm and only $9.00 after 5pm. All in all not a bad value. Popcorn and soda are the usual too much but that's everywhere. That's really where theaters make their money so I get that. The chairs are nice, high back rocking chairs, which makes me think this is a fairly new theater. The movie was good as well so that helped too. I'll be back when I'm in the area. read more

Lotta fun enjoyed our experience at this theater! Was our first time here! Temperature of the place was perfect ! This is a no cell phone zone so everyone was quiet and respectful of those around them. So appreciate the clear reminder before the movie started. Cute little place. Very well-kept and clean. The only negative was that I'm not sure their online ticket purchasing system is totally operational, because while we were charged by the theater for the tickets, they couldn't locate that we had gotten them using any identifying information since we hadn't received a confirmation email. Since they couldn't verify we actually purchased them aside from looking at my man's bank account, they said we could get in the movie as long as we bought concessions and next time, "make sure we get a confirmation email." For a small town theater it totally fits the bill. My grandkids and I have built a lot of memories there. The staff is awesome.

As a lifelong supporter of movie theaters, I try to go at least once a week. BUT, if the heat is turned off, two hours sitting still can be difficult for me. Staff is nice, but apparently has no control over the temperature. Might have to carry a blanket if I go back. read more

June 28th - We were visiting from out of town, it was my sons 14th birthday & he wanted to see Fast & Furious 9. We were a party of 5 so spent a pretty penny on tickets. Movie time was 8:20pm, we arrived at 8:35pm with pre purchased tickets. Upon arrival we were told that all concessions were closed. We were told that concessions close 30 minutes after the movie time. I told them it hadn't been 30 minutes & they said, "well concessions are closed" Popcorn machine had popcorn in it but we were told it was for refills only. All the candy was already put away & the lights were off only 15 minutes after the official start time. My husband offered to pay double & told them to keep the difference, he explained we were from out of town & that it was our son's birthday, but the 2 girls & 1 guy behind the counter just kept saying they were closed and then said the registers were closed. When my husband asked to speak to the manager, one of the 3 people said they were in fact the manager! This sad display of customer service is pretty sad considering we've just come out of a pandemic & movie theaters are struggling to stay open. They could have easily made $50 off us in concessions if not more 1) being 5 ppl so the average would have been at least $10/person 2) 3 teen kids 3) it was my sons birthday so we would have bought whatever the kids wanted! My husband spoke to the manager after the movie, Dylan, who was extremely rude, no customer service skills whatsoever. When asked what the policy was he conveniently changed the policy to 20 minutes prior to movie starting. Being a business owner in the service industry ourselves, my husband tried to give Dylan a "customer service 101" Dylan then proceeded to tell us to leave & that he was going to call the cops. My husband told him that he would leave but our son was in the restroom, Dylan then told us we would have to wait outside! He then proceed to wave his hand back & forth saying "bye bye, bye bye" My husband just laughed at him & told him to call the police then. This whole situation was pathetic. Dylan, the so called "manager" unprofessional, immature and very apparently not qualified to be a "manager". Whoever owns this movie theater, I hope you read this & then stress to these 3 young people the importance of customer service, when to go outside of "policy", and that you never turn down an opportunity to make money! These 3 people were anxious to close that concession stand so they didn't have to do their job any longer & could just sit there for 2 hours & talk to each other. All 3 of them were there until the very end of the movie, standing around on the clock AND turning down money! If these types of operating procedures are standard for these 3 individuals, I can guarantee this movie theatre is loosing money unnecessarily. Which, during these times is a shame. read more

Three stars = "A-OK," and that's what I'm giving my little hometown cinema venue. It truly IS an "all right," "hunky dory," "putta-there, pal" place to go see a first run movie. A four star, "Yay! I'm a fan" rating could happen if they turned the heat up. BRING A COAT! Yes, even in the "Summer," because Summer never really comes to a mid-coast Oregon beach town (temps can be in the upper 80s and 90s inland, but will be a cool 53 to 56 degrees at the beach with lots of windswept fog, even in July and August). I have been to this theater dozens of times and have yet to walk inside to a feeling of, "Ahhhhh....nice and cozy." The theater is quite modern, very clean, friendly staff, and sports some very comfortably cushioned and (slightly rocking) seats that have arms you can swing into (or out) of place, depending on the snuggle factor. I must say, drink holders are a must if you're juggling the Extra Super-Duper (with free refills) bag of popcorn and a giant soft drink. Just don't go putting the arm down between you and your date, expecting to put the moves on that stranger on your other side. That could cause (if you'll excuse me) a scene. (ouch!) The fifth star -- "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" will only happen when this theater adds two things: 1) Heat in the theater viewing areas and 2) an iMax. Until then, it's not as good as it gets. But hey - three outta five ain't bad at all. Happy viewing! read more

So you're staying in Newport during the wintertime, or maybe during the summertime and the weather isn't cooperating. It's cold, blustery and stormy, or maybe it's just all socked in. Either way, walks on the beach won't be all that much fun, and say you've gone to all the "tourist" joints already. What do you do? For my money, I'd suggest catching a movie at Newport Cinema. The theaters are clean and modern, the staff are friendly, and the tickets are cheaper than Portland-area cinemas. It's not a big multiplex, and it doesn't have an IMAX theater, but it shows first-run movies at decent prices. Good to know for the next time we stay in Newport during bad weather, which is bound to be soon. read more

First off you have to stand in line to buy tickets behind people with their six kids trying to decide what food they want. Two people at counter, one should be able to call people forward who just want tickets. It's ridiculous to have line out the door, waiting for twenty minutes, when the movie is starting. We were so excited to go this theater on our family vacation to Newport. Unfortunately, the theater had all the bathrooms closed both times we went there. They were not even kind enough to bring in any Port-A-Potty's for the paying patrons. When I spoke with the manager and explained that we had taken a cab since we didn't have a car on vacation and I really had to use the bathroom, she explained to me that I could walk down Coast highway, which does not have a sidewalk and use the bathroom at the steak house, OVER A MILE AWAY. No car, no bathroom and I missed the first 15 minutes of the movie since I walked there and back. No refund, no discount. The employees even said THEY have to use the bathroom before work since there isn't one working there. ISN'T THAT ILLEGAL???? THESE OWNERS ARE GREEDY AND HORRIBLE PEOPLE - DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!!!!! read more

Heater didn't work in theater. Movie tried to start 3 times, but froze each time. When we asked for our money back, it's their policy not to give it back, but give you a future free ticket to get in. The two tickets we received were listed with an expiration date of 1/1/19. We didn't see that until we were half way home. Won't be going to a movie in Newport again. My husband and I were in Newport for a beach weekend and exuded to see a movie while it rained. We did have to purchase our tickets at the concession stand, as others stated, which was fine at the time. However, when I needed to run back out to my car a little bit later, a line had formed and I had to cut around all of those folks to get back to the theater. That was one star off. The other star off was due to the soundproofing in the theater itself. We were seeing a period piece, which had a lot of quiet scenes. The music and dialogue from one of the neighboring theaters really cut into that ambiance. When watching a movie set in the 1630's, you really don't want to hear a pop song in the background. read more

Drove up for the early show (around 11:45 am) and saw a row of port-a-johns in the parking lot. According to a note on the door, they are having plumbing problems and the port-a-johns were the bathrooms you had to use, if needed. Luckily, that wasn't an issue! I asked for lots of butter on my popcorn and they accommodated me. The items at the concession stand were a little expensive and there were no discounts for children, seniors, military personnel or anyone else. We go here off and on. Most the time we have a decent experience. This week they put Finding Dory in theater #7. It is very small and there is not much room between the back row and the row in front of the back. The people in the back kick the seats in front even when they try not to. Sound is the not same as the other theaters, sounds as if it is all coming from the screen instead of surround sound. If you go here and they are showing the movie you want to see in #7, go somewhere else or wait for the blue ray. Even the staff was surprised that it was being shown in #7. read more

Movie theater may appear small town but the inside is well taken care of and modern. I didn't mind buying my ticket with snacks, gave it a home town feel. We waited in line for 25 minutes last night and missed the start of the show. There is one line for buying tickets and popcorn/soda/snacks. Due to dietary restrictions, we are unable to partake of theater food. When I asked why there was only one line, the employee said, "it's corporate policy."
