Be warned! Besides that, the ELEVATOR CALL BUTTON DOESN'T WORK and instead of fixing it they lie and say neither guests nor deliveries are allowed upstairs. This was not the case when I moved in, and no other building I've lived in doesn't allow me to buzz up a guest or delivery that has a call box. LADIES BEWARE! I thought the building manager was just being friendly when he asked me to eat meals and gave me his personal number but he looked upset when he saw me going on a date with someone else. And after that my maintenance requests started taking a way longer time to be responded. From an average of a couple of days to no less than a couple of weeks. I also once heard someone trying to come into my apartment with a key but a noise from my tv scared them away and I immediately stood to check my peephole where I saw the building manager walking away from my door alone. There was no notice given or pending maintenance request that would warrant him coming to my place so I was very creeped out. When I confronted him with our building security guard he blamed it on a maintenance worker that he "stopped from entering the wrong apartment" and since there are no cameras in the halls we had to take his word for it. (Even though I saw him walking away completely alone through the peephole and didn't see/hear him talking to anyone. Also every time maintenance had come in the past and since, they knock and wait before attempting to enter.) This building has done a few other shitty things in obvious efforts to maximize their profits and it's always at the expense of the tenant living experience. Just take your business elsewhere because you're definitely just a unit number here.

It used to be a well-maintained and enjoyable place to live, but that is no longer the case. There are ongoing maintenance issues that are not properly addressed, including a persistent foul odor in my unit that I've submitted multiple work orders for with no resolution. Common areas and amenities are frequently out of service--gym equipment is often broken, including the AC and a StairMaster that has been down for over a year. The clubhouse also has broken TVs and other neglected equipment. There have also been damages to my vehicle caused by security staff, which were not properly addressed or resolved. There are additional concerns about upkeep throughout the property, including rusted fencing on the rooftop that appears poorly maintained. In addition, wildlife control in the parking garage appears poorly handled, and I have personally seen multiple dead pigeons. Security is rarely helpful when issues arise, and communication from management has been inconsistent at best. Meanwhile, rent continues to increase without any noticeable improvements to the living conditions or amenities. Overall, the property no longer reflects the standards it once had under prior management.

The building also hosts social events to help people get to know their neighbors, and everyone I've met here is really lovely -- it's nice, especially in a big city, to regularly get to run into people e.g. out on dog walks who you actually know and have a chat with them! Our apartment is clean and pleasant with great views of the city, and really well-located in terms of grocery stores, pharmacies, coffee shops, etc., as well as public transit, which I rely on primarily. The Met is an older building, so we've definitely had a few maintenance issues during our time here, but our work orders have always been responded to immediately and taken seriously and the issues we've encountered were always dealt with promptly by friendly and professional staff! If you're looking for a well-priced place downtown, I would highly recommend checking it out.

The first manager knew it and my Va rep. The next manager knew nothing about it but the owner David did. I suffer from ptsd and many other mental issues. I finally moved out at the 8 month mark. The harassment was overwhelming. They then waited until my lease was us up to charge me over $9,000. My legal counsel said some property managers do stuff like this all the time. They are crooked. Do NOT move in here. I talk to other veterans who had problems here as well. Only gave it one star because I couldn't give it no star. This was my first apartment ever and it was supposed to be a positive experience. I was so excited and yet it was ruined by dishonest people taking advantage of homeless veterans.

When I returned the keys, the management told me that since we had lived there for a long time, most items would likely be considered normal wear and tear and would not be charged. However, a few weeks after moving out, I was charged $1,500 for repainting the walls and bathtub resurfacing, plus an additional $300 cleaning fee.I spent an entire day cleaning the apartment before leaving, and it honestly looked cleaner than when I first moved in. I tried to dispute the charges, but since I did not have anything in writing and was not present during the move-out inspection, I ended up having to pay the full amount. If you are currently living here, I strongly recommend being present during the move-out inspection and documenting everything. I am almost certain they attached photos they submitted was NOT from my apartment. (They claimed that our door was broken, which it absolutely was not.) I truly enjoyed living here, but the move-out experience was extremely disappointing. It felt like they were trying to charge as much as possible at the end.

During my residency here, not only did we have the power go out for a few days with no end in sight but also had the AC go out for a whole week due to a project they were doing. On top of this, I had issues with my dishwasher constantly, a window was broken and needed to be fixed, and I had issues with my shower randomly turning freezing cold every 15 minutes. Also, the second elevator only works maybe a third of the time you're living there. To top it all off, i did not receive my security deposit back due to general deep cleaning and painting which technically counts as wear and tear. The leasing office never compensated anyone in the building for any of the above inconveniences. If any of this sounds like fun to deal with, then for sure rent here. But I highly advise against it. I denied a virtual tour and was instead offered pictures in lieu of a virtual tour. Sara, then only sent me images showing a partial unit. I requested, multiple times, for additional images of the remainder of the unit. She refused. I then reached out to Sara set up an in person tour or if I could just do a walk in. She said to go through her for an appointment. I gave my availability. No response until the following day giving me 2 hours to drop what I was doing to go view the unit. I couldn't make it. I then reach out this week trying to set up an appointment to tour the unit in person. Sara, then advises that the unit I would like is no longer available. Sara offered no alternatives and didn't see interested in helping. So, if you want to tour this beautiful history building for your next home avoid her at all costs. Work with someone else.

Good luck getting back your security deposit…read more Blackstone management failed to return my security deposit within California's legal timeframe of 21 days. After two months, I sent a formal demand letter. Management ignored it for nine days then claimed they had already mailed it. Another week passed with no response or refund. When I again threatened a lawsuit, the money was sent electronically--something they apparently knew how to do all along. They attempted to rewrite the record by calling the payment a "courtesy" to replace the check they'd supposedly sent; however, they charged themselves a "Late SD Return" fee to cancel out my utility charges and cleaning fee. I doubt a property management company would refund a legitimate charge if they had followed the law. Blackstone is owned by the same company as HWH Luxury Living, whose manager failed to respond to my requests to return the "refundable" deposit I put down on a different apartment. When I realized Blackstone was the same company and I expressed concern, I was assured the management was different and I would not have trouble getting my security deposit. Also, upon move-out, I was told my apartment was "clean and returned as is" and I would get my security deposit back "in full," yet they still attempted to charge a $150 cleaning fee, and did not refund anything until I threatened legal action. Living at the Blackstone was not ideal. Although I liked my actual unit, the interior walls are very thin. I bought a professional grade sound blanket to muffle the noise from my neighbor. Dogs are routinely off leash and urinate/defecate in common areas, including the elevator. The outside entrance is covered with astroturf that neighborhood dogs use as a giant pee/poop pad and some residents even treat it like their own personal yard for their little dogs. They open the lobby door and stand in the entryway while waiting for their dog to relieve themselves on the fake grass, especially at night. Even after many residents complained, including the building Super, Management just replaced the pee soaked astroturf instead of fixing the broken concrete underneath. When the garage gate was broken, street people were coming in and out of the building for a couple of weeks with no extra security measures taken by management. Also, if you're considering an interior apartment to avoid street noise, residents on the ground floor of the courtyard use it as an extension of their apartments, also for their dogs, so it can get noisy as well. Contrary to what I was told, other residents cannot access the courtyard because the doors are always locked. Finally, in my 12 months as a resident, there was only 1 week when both elevators were working simultaneously, so if it's dirty or unusable, your options are to deal with the smell or take the stairs. Sometimes they were both down. They are always "waiting for a part." My experience was disappointing. There are better apartments in Los Angeles for the money.
