Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone, so without further delay let's begin!. This is my second time here getting a pedicure, this time I figured I would bring my grandson because my daughter wanted his first experience to be with a male rather than with her and my granddaughter. Let's say we don't want to confuse him and we want him to know it's ok for boys/men to get pedicures. So what better way to show him it's ok to get pampered than to go with his PaPa to get pedicures. I want to introduce my grandson to some of the things that I was not introduced to because of reasons like it wasn't available, or time didn't allow for whatever reason! But now these are different times and opportunities and education along with technology are here, and I believe it's my responsibility as a grandfather to educate my grandson and show him how life works so he will be well prepared for life when I'm long gone from this earth! And I understand a lot of things were not available when I was younger, but the opportunities are there now! I love getting them because they make your feet feel new! I enjoy getting pedicures and the lady that does them always jokes around and say do you want clear polish or design on your toes! And I politely say " no ma'am I'm good, no polish or design for me"!!.. My grandson enjoyed his first pedicure as well, how do I know you ask? Because I asked him and he said he enjoyed it!. I left off one star because they seem to rush through it, but then again it could be because I get the cheapest pedicure service. Why you ask? Because the cheapest one does the job for me. I have been getting pedicures here for about 2 years, maybe longer. A few months ago I got a pedicure and basic manicure. The pedicure was the best I've ever had. The manicure was also great. It was just basic; no tips, no gel polish. Just a cleanup, shape and clear pinkish polish. Also, a great job. Today, I went for a mani/pedi. The pedi was nothing like other pedis I've gotten. I'd call it incomplete. The final product is passable, but disappointing. The manicure/clean up was not good. He cut my nails way too short. Once one is done, you've no choice but to even them up. When the polish was dry, I noticed the nails weren't smooth and glossy as usual. Turns out he had not removed the remnants of my old polish. I should've paid attention I guess, but polish removal is pretty basic manicure procedure. I will be taking a break from this place for a while . read more

Pretty disappointed in the quality of service at both Harborview and Downtown Suffolk locations in the last 24 hours. I got a Deluxe Pedicure with Gel polish at the Harborview location on Sunday at 4 pm. My pedicurist seemed inexperienced, had difficulty filling the tub due to 2 loose tubes, and then failed to apply top coat after adding a layer of glitter on gel polish on a $75 pedicure. (I'd noticed another worker looking at her work, telling her which order to apply the oils and lotions, and quietly commenting as she worked). He laughed when she'd finished without any top coat over the glitter after struggling to put on my shoes so she removed them to add a thin top coat. That glitter scratched my sheets and socks all night. Monday morning-I go to their 'other' City Nails 2 location in Downtown Suffolk at Publix expecting to get a polish change for $20 as shown on their site. The manager is rude, loud, doesn't know about any Harborview location (don't know them! Different Company!!) and looked surprised I expected to pay for a polish change and wasn't looking for a handout. He quoted me $25, then talked in his language to the other workers throughout my polish change: A few of them came over to see my feet. It took 4 different workers to perform a gel polish change because the first 2 (older ladies) seemed very unexperienced and slow with the drill/file. 2 younger workers took over from the first 2 older workers. Finished about 45 minutes later. Harborview and the downtown Suffolk locations have the same owner. The whole vibe was unprofessional. I hope they learn talking about your customers in another language is unacceptable in any profession-but they probably won't. The last young lady (Tracy) who took over at downtown was very nice and attentive-at least my polish is smooth now. read more

Requested builder gel. Nail tech insisted on hybrid gel and that it was the same. I have been getting builder gel for the last 2 years but whatever what do I know right. Less then a week later my nails are lifting and one has broken in half. I go in for a fix and the tech who originally did my nails has an attitude and says it's my fault it broke in half and the only thing hard enough is acrylic. I said no I asked you for builder gel. Hybrid gel isn't the same. He argued me down. Then started to remove my nails with a fake nail. I said no file them off as I don't want them ripped off. He literally talked shit the entire service. I had Google Translate on in my ear. Then when he was almost done he continued to try to berate me as if I was wrong for his shitty application. Just got my nails done a week and a half ago. the nail already snapped off when I went to scratch my arm. This is the second time one of their nails popped off within the first week. The nails were crooked but I just ignored that because I didn't have time for them to fix it. I decided last minute to get my nails done, I thought there'd be a wait considering Christmas is around the corner. As soon as I stepped in the salon I was seated within minutes, I wanted a full acrylic set and a pedicure. My nails look amazing! As I walked in , I was greeted by the staff asking what I would like. I requested a regular polish manicure and a polish change . I was constantly asked why I wanted regular polish and all the available tech, which there were 7 of them looked at each other and asked who wanted to take me as they giggles and no one would budge to complete my service. I'm not sure if it was because I was getting regular polish but finally one person offered to do my nails after standing there while they Deliberated. other techs were constantly looking at me and laughing as my nail tech tried to talk me into getting gel. I've gotten gel before but at that time i just wanted a quick polish change. My nail tech rushed through my service so that he could complete his loyal client. I will not be coming back. Walked in on a Sunday afternoon for a pedicure. Not the warmest welcome upon entering; no hello, just "what do you want". Told them I'm here for a walk in pedicure and the tech (who was actively working on someone else and didn't get up to check me in) just said okay. No instructions on where to go, where to wait, or if they could even get me in as a walk-in. I found some empty chairs by the color wall and waited there until someone from the far back room yelled at me to come to a spa chair. Weaved myself through the front nail area to find the back room of pedicure spa chairs and the tech filling the spa tub. Was not shown where the remote was or how to use the massage chair, so had to fumble on the side pocket to finally find it. The pedicure menu was then handed to me without any conversation or explanation or anything. Tech started working on my feet while watching his phone the ENTIRE time. Seriously, his phone was set up on the tool table next to him and he was watching videos for the full duration of my pedicure. The whole experience just felt rushed, and that he was just going through a checklist and marking the boxes. As soon as he painted my last toe, he looked at me and said "okay, youre done". Didn't allow me to sit there and wait to dry, didn't show me where to go up front to sit under the lamp to dry. If you are looking for a quick in and out, this is your place. It just wasn't the level of professionalism that I'm used to or expected when paying for a service. It just felt like I was a burden to them instead of a customer. So I decided to try this place after the reviews I read. I have an important trip that I would be leaving for the following day so I was pressed for time. To combat being in the "Friday after work" crowd I placed an appointment online. I arrived at the salon 19 minutes earlier than my appoint time. The place was very crowded. I checked in on the mobile tablet at the counter after finally being greeted. There was a young lady at the front who was doing nails but stopped to make sure everyone got checked in and provided chips and bottled water. I waited 30 minutes pass my appointment time while others walked in and were serviced first. I was upset and almost left before I was pointed in the direction of an elderly gentleman who was going to do Pedicure. The man did not speak English at all so I pointed to the type of pedicure I desired. When I sat in the chair and placed my feet in the water it was ice cold. I asked the lady working next to the man doing my pedicure to please add hot water. The man added water but it was cold. I tried to push through that and enjoy the pedicure but it just went downhill. Towards the end of the pedicure I noticed that the items on the pedicure I selected werent done. I I quired but none of the people working in the pedicure section understood English that well and they went to get someone in the front who explained. The younger guy from the front explained the guy giving me my pedicure selected another type of pedicure than what I picked out. I advised the younger guy that if the older gentleman selected another type of pedicure than what I picked out then maybe he was paying for the pedicure. The younger man from the front translated what I said and the older gentleman just left and got my polish for my toes. He painted my toes and I have never seen Gel polish be so lumpy. I just left the pedicure station frustrated and upset and another younger man in front completed my manicure. The manicure portion was better by far but rushed. I really advise them to get a receptionist and someone to handle checking folks out so their nail techs don't have to keep stopping. Also, I would advise them to honor their appointments before walk-ins to keep the level of confusion down to a minimum. I will say I went for relaxation and to be pampered and felt extremely upset and frustrated when I left. I normally give places two tries before I write them off but this experience was so horrible I would rather not endure that type of pain again. read more

New nail shop in Harbourview! Although it's new, the nail techs are experienced! My sister decided to try this place out because it just opened and they are running a 20% off all services until 6/16. Afterwards she called me and told me I knew some of the workers bc one used to do my nails at a diff shop. This place is really cute inside. Staff was friendly. I got a gel mani and pedi. I've gotten gel at other places and the finished product looks like I've had my nails done a week with the distance of the color from my cuticle. Not this time. Amy always does such an amazing job. The classic pedi included a hot stone massage (which usually doesn't come in a basic pedi). They also have info on how the pedi chairs they are using includes the latest sanitizing technology. $102 Total. Acrylic full set with French tip gel polish & $37 Pedicure without gel. I was overcharged. Kim, who did my nails wouldn't stop making rude comments asking "why didn't you use the restroom before I sat in the chair?" Mind you I'm 8 months pregnant. Telling me to stop talking to the person on the phone. Made my thumb nails way shorter than my other fingernails. The shape is awful, the thickness is WAY too thick, it's been 5 days and my hair gets stuck under the nail because it's lifting. The acrylic is SO close to my cuticles, it's just really bad... While cleaning up the French tip, she left white residue and didn't bother taking it off. My pedicure was only two coats, still transparent, the top coat was not fully applied to my toe nails, they're chipping and it's not even been 5 days. My nail polish at home lasts longer than this.. I started coming to city nail and spa every two weeks starting February due to me moving bases. I took a chance on them and the service was great. However, on this particular day it was very different... chaotic and a headache! Before coming I called for a lady who USE to work there but she quit! I still took a chance today. Worst mistake ever. Upon entering I notice different faces. Which is fine. The last time I was there I asked a specialist could they perform a certain style on my nails, but they said they could not (which is fine) I respect that. Now, on Today (like stated before) I seen new faces so asked again, about the nail style I previously inquired about with a different tech on a different day. The nail tech stated that he could do it!! He was very confident and I trusted him. So upon painting my nails I noticed that they didn't look they picture so I showed it to him and he kept going back and forth stating "now you see why the other person couldn't do it" "it's very difficult" "I'd like you to try it on yourself" (very very rude)I then proceeded to say "I'm not the professional you are" At this point I'm trying to keep my composure.. and let him fix the job. After a certain point I was like you know what just take off, and I will be on my way. I was very frustrated the whole experience was not relaxing. I even got an pedicure. But before the pedicure the nail tech put the tips on my hands then I was told to proceed to the pedicure chair... after sitting there he comes BY MYSIDE and starts to apply the acrylics while I'm getting my PEDICURE ( like I said, not relaxing at all). Now I'm getting ready to check out and it's a lady who does speak a English, which is expected when you goto these services, however, why as an owner have someone who is not fluent in English work the checkout service, when you accommodate people who only speak English language. Well when I go to the checkout she slaps the calculator of the total on the counter ( at the time I did not know because I'm used to being verbally told the total with A SMILE)... anyways I gave my card and proceeded to walk out knowingly that my nails are a hot mess and I have paint all over them. That lets you know how frustrating the experience was I just wanted to LEAVE!! I literally left there with an headache....
