Most painful acrylic set I have ever gotten. The pedicure was fine but when the man started on my nails he was extremely rude. He ended up cutting two of my fingers with a nail file then looked at me like I was stupid for flinching. Next came the design it was extremely simple. Just nude base with a green and white French tip. Instead of the nude base he put clear. I asked them to fix it and it started a ten minute argument ab how he was saying he did it right and me saying it needed a nude base. So I just got the one color and no design. After applying polish, she filed my nails again which took the polish off the very tip increasing the chance of chipping. She was really friendly however and I did appreciate that. First time here and Henry did my pedicure. He was fantastic, from the amazing foot/leg massage to the meticulous polishing. The massage seemed longer than the usual massage given with pedis but you'll hear NO complaint from me! My legs feel so good with the increased circulation. The lady who did my nails sped through it which resulted in air bubbles popping up when my nails were under the fan. My right to left hand had different nail shapes. One nail got smudged and messed up. The main lady's response to fix the other lady's mess up was to just put another coat of nail polish and top coat over it which did not help. There are lumps in the polish, and there are places where she left nail polish on my skin and it bonded to my skin as I was sitting there. She acted like she didn't want to give me any, but she gave a little. I spent a lot of money there today, and left with the impression that my business was unwanted. I noticed that City Nails had great reviews so I dropped in today without an appointment. They were busy, but got to me as quickly as they could. I got in and out in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering how may customers they had. It was a lovely atmosphere with very friendly technicians. I was offered something to drink which no other salon I've been to in JC has ever done. The price was amazing. I will be going here from now on. My nails turned out great. Having visited this salon twice and leaving disappointed, I decided to give it one more shot before giving up. The reviews are great and they always do a wonderful pedicure for my daughter. Not so with me. Today I reserved two deluxe pedicures then watched as my daughter's nail tech did the usual nail care, scrub, lotion, massage, etc. while mine fiddled with my cuticles for ten minutes, applied a leg mask, then realized she was behind and skipped straight to polish! Not a drop of lotion and NO MASSAGE. Per the salon's menu, the deluxe pedicure is an upgrade from the regular spa pedicure with an additional scrub, mask, and longer massage. When I brought this to my nail tech's attention, she argued with me and alerted the entire salon to my complaint. Ultimately she took $5 off my pedicure, but that was little consolation when the massage is what I was most looking forward to. This is my third and final bad experience at this salon. I'm only rating it two stars because the place is clean and my daughter's feet always look nice. If you visit this salon, make sure your nail tech knows what she's supposed to be doing so you don't get shortchanged three times like me. read more

I was all about this place when I went in for the first time last week. Yesterday I had a mishap the resulted in me messing up my nails....totally my fault. I headed to city nails to get them fixed and knew that I would have to wait since it was a Saturday after all. I signed in and I waited....and I waited.....after nearly forty minutes nobody had spoken to say "hi" or "we will be right with you" or "sorry for the wait". Nothing. I didn't exist. Again, I understand busy and I would have been perfectly fine waiting for an hour....had I not been disrespected. I have never walked into a beauty Establishment and not at least been smiled at. As awesome as Kendra was last week, I'm going to have to find somewhere where the staff as a whole acknowledges that I am a living breathing human being. Who spends money. And tips. Oh well, I will not be spending money here again....a pity since I would have become quite a loyal customer of Kendra. I have been here twice before. The girl I w t to wasn't there Saturday so I got one of the Chinese ladies. I wanted a mani pedi. She proceeded to work on my feet and legs. Then she was bragging how tiny she was but had very strong hands. She rubbed my legs so hard that she bruised them. She kept looking for a reaction from me. I wanted acrylic toe nails. Before they gave me what I wanted. She refused to do them the way I wanted. The last time they painted them at soaking chair, not her. She had me to go to the table stick my feet under the table and place them on a garbage can to paint them. She kept holding my toes with her nails. At one time I pulled back and shouted ouch. She proceeded to do my finger nails. When I came in I asked which lasted longer, they said shellac. I said ok. What ever she put on my nails isn't lasting. Went on Saturday and Sunday the nails were chipping. For $55.00 one would like to think they would last at least a week. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! read more

I had my nails done here less than 2 weeks ago. I have been getting the dip nails for almost a year, consistently. I have been to MANY places (mainly because when I find someone I love, they leave) and I have never had such horrible service or nails. I had my dip nails done by Chelsea. She took 15 minutes to do my nails. Fifteen. That is all the time she gave me. She ripped the skin around my nails to the point where I was bleeding. Within two days of having my nails done, one chipped completely in half. I went back for it to be fixed and that one chipped nail took just as long for her to do all ten two days prior. A few days later, the tips started to chip on almost all my nails. Then one week after having them done my thumb nail cracked. I was not about to go and have her touch them again, so I just left it alone. Tonight, on that same thumb, my REAL nail came completely off. I am not one to ever complain. However, this was the worst service I have ever received. As expensive as it is to get this done, even if it isn't exactly what was wanted, I expected them to at least last two weeks. I am not hard on my nails at all, and even from the crappiest of places, they have always lasted 3-4 weeks. I realize it was just one person out of many at City Nails, but she should not be doing nails. And whoever owns the place really needs to look at what is going on there.
