I was…read moregetting really mad about the fact that in SF they ran out of Democrat ballots and they were keeping the polls open to try to fix the problem. Then I am remembering the whole hanging chad crap and the Florida results that came down to less than 1,000 votes. WHEN all of the sudden I hear a noise outside. Was that someone crashing into my car? I look out window and what is in the middle of the street? An official ballot box and some official equipment (see photo). I go out there and there is a couple in a car that pulled over. We lift the ballot box and put it on the sidewalk. Apparently, a pickup had it's tail gate down and the boxes fell out. Is this a conspiracy? So the couple call the number on the top of the box but there was no answer so we called the Norwalk office (the head of So Cal voters registration). We explain the story and ask if they wanted us to drop it off but they said no they wanted a Sheriff to escort the box. So we wait for about 10 minutes when the pick up truck drives up and sees the boxes. Well we were not letting them leave now with the boxes the Sheriff's are on there way and they were not happy AT ALL. Well they seemed a bit mad so we called the police until the sheriffs could arrive. Once the police were there they called Norwalk and straightened up the issue. Apparently the boxes did not have any ballots in them only paperwork, the ballots were in the cab of the truck.

I picked up a form and politely asked the woman if it was the correct form for an international shipment. Instead of responding professionally, she loudly stated, "We don't do them at this time," in a way that everyone in the lobby could hear. She did not apologize or offer any assistance. She then said there were only 10 minutes left until closing, even though it was still before 5:00 p.m. and there were only five people ahead of me in line. A few minutes later, she again announced that they do not process international shipments near closing time, claiming that it takes more than five minutes. She then went to lock the side door and came back to me while I was still waiting in line. She repeated that they would not process my international shipment because they were about to close. I told her that I had already heard her say that multiple times and that I simply needed to pay for the envelope. She continued to insist that I did not need to pay for the envelope instead of addressing my concerns or offering any solution. What was most frustrating was that after 5:00 p.m., several additional customers were still allowed to enter the post office. In fact, as I was leaving, four more people walked in, and there was a line extending out the door. I do not understand why I was refused service for an international shipment when I arrived before closing and other customers were still being allowed into the building. I found the employee's tone and behavior unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessarily rude. I believe customers who arrive before closing should be treated respectfully and provided with clear, courteous explanations regarding any service limitations.

So even though I got there at 8:05 am and I was by far the first in line I had the misfortune to stand by the door they opened second (outside door) so I ended up being 7th in line and the people that got there after me at the inside door got in first. The lady employee literally walked by me standing at the door to open the other door! Frustrating! TIP: at least today December 2025 they open the INTERIOR door before the exterior door. Unlike some locations that are appointment only for passports you can do occasional walk ins here but check the days/times first since they are very specific! Also be warned: if you show up after hours and want to drop off mail in the outdoor drive thru mailbox: you CAN'T because they lock the exterior mailboxes (you know the big blue ones) after hours now to prevent mail theft!

I booked my appointment online, walked in on a Monday morning (traditionally the DMV's version of rush hour), and braced for bureaucratic purgatory. Long weekend and i'm bracing myself or maybe I just have insane luck at these things (2nd review of a dmv -- santa monica) which turned out to be a easy process too. Instead, the entire operation moved with the efficiency of a pit crew at the Indy 500. Within minutes I was checked in, guided to the right window, and treated by staff who were super cheerful, helpful, and fully awake to the concept of customer service. No sighs, no eye-rolling, no mysterious lines that lead nowhere. Just competent people moving things along with surprising grace. I took my renewal test online, so all I needed were paperworks and some confirmation numbers to them. All like that - then a new photo and signed the temp license I got and I was done. Thirty-five minutes door to door. Big ups to yall!!!!

I tried to make one in May, but all of July was already booked. So I decided to try a walk-in experience one day before a major holiday thinking it may not be so busy. I got all of my paperwork together that was required (Birth Certificate and two different types of bills with my name and address on them. I brought my SCE and Gas bills with me). I arrived shortly after they opened (8a) and it was relatively quiet. I was ushered into a room to take a quick Q&A on a computer. It took all but three minutes. I was then told to get in line near window 9 to have my documents approved. There were two lines and they were short and moving. Once my documents were approved, they texted me a number for my appointment. I only had to wait about 20 minutes before my number was announced. After arriving to my window for the in person appointment, my documents were scanned, I reviewed and approved my application, paid the fee, and off I was to the line to get my picture taken. That line was short and my picture was taken in less than 5 minutes. I autographed my name for the license and I was finished. Everyone that worked there was friendly enough. They weren't overly kind, but not rude at all. They were almost robot like. I was in-and-out in under an hour. Excellent! As I was leaving it was definitely getting busier. Going early seems to work best if you can't or don't have an appointment.

Okay look...we have all gotten tickets before for various moving violations...that's pretty much a…read moregiven living in southern California. The problem is when you have to deal with the court and you miss their quick deadline/court date, you're no longer dealing with the court because they turn your paperwork over to these low class, punk ass, loser dicks who don't know what the hell they're doing! Everyone says and does something different! The court makes me SICK because they're so quick to slap a failure to appear on your record, but when you try to reschedule your court appearance, you can't! Back in the day, you could call the court's traffic division and speak to a live operator and schedule a new date if you couldn't make it due to work, school, surgery, out of town, in labor and having a fucking baby, getting married, hell...sudden death!! Now, there is no one to talk to, so if you can't make your court appearance, you're assed out, because they just slapped you with a failure to appear! And they don't care why you didn't show up. Once that occurs, you're paperwork is turned over to these punks and they raise your fees 10x what it originally was! Then when you call them, they say that you can no longer go to court, that you have to pay the fine either in full or make a payment arrangement with them. If you make a payment arrangement, they give you some high ass up front fee (that most people cant afford to make outright) and then spread the rest out at lower payments over the next few months (are they really low enough??). And if your license is suspended, they won't send the release to the DMV until you make the first payment, so if you just got a new job or don't get paid for 2 weeks, guess what...your license will still be suspended until that first payment is made. I made an arrangement the first time around. My ticket was $230 and the failure to appear somehow jumped it up to $983!!! Yeah fucking right! Where did you losers get that figure?! A $753 jump for a failure to appear?? Paleeeeezze! They told me that I couldn't go to court (first time I called, when I made the deal). Like Oso M. wrote in their review...they totally fucked up my payments and never took the money out! I even called (second call) on the day that they were supposed to take the payments out to confirm everything and the lady told me that everything was good and it had been processed. Called a few days later (third call) to find out what the hell was taking so long for them to process the payment and again was told that everything was fine. Finally 2 weeks later, I called again (fourth call) to find out what the hell was going on because no money had been taken out of my account AND I had received notice from the DMV that they were going to suspend my license. They tell me that I fell out of the "program" that they enrolled me in due to non-payment! Say whattttt???!!! I kept calling and was told several times that everything was okay, even though the money was still there and waiting. I had no idea what was taking them so long to process! The lady tells me that because of non-payment, I now have to pay the full amount before they will release my license. She said that I can't be enrolled in the program now and that that was my only choice. I told her that I wanted to go to court and she said that I couldn't. So I asked for a manager to review my tapes from a prior call because all of this was new information to me, besides the fact that someone had dropped the ball. She said she'd put it through to a manager and I asked how long it would take for someone to get back to me. Guess what...YOU have to call a week later to find out the results. They do not call you. I asked why is the wait a week and she said because there are others ahead of you. No wonder! I am not surprised! I can only imagine what others must be dealing with! I hung up with her and called back a week later (fifth call!!!). I spoke to a guy who (SURPRISE!!!) tells me a different story! I find out that I am actually STILL in the program, that it takes 2 weeks to actually be dropped from it and that I could have made a payment on the down payment amount that I was originally quoted. By this time, I have flames and smoke all around me as I shout into the phone and tell him of my prior four calls and four sets of differing information. He apologized, took a deep breath and told me that I could have beeeeeeen to court to deal with this a long time ago. He told me how long I had to FINALLY be dropped from this program and to either go into the courthouse (apparently GC Services has a special window there) or call them to set up my court date. I chose to go to the courthouse to do it, got my court date and the judge released all those BULLSHIT fees and back down to my original fine, I go. Screw these people! Go to court! Do not deal with them!

First and foremost, the purpose of this review is not to bash GC Services because at the end of the…read moreday, it is what it is. I too had a terrible experience with their customer service window in the BH Courthouse. With that said, my gut feeling is that nobody is happy when their $25 fix it ticket balloons into a $1000 fee for failure to appear in court. We all are clearly angry by such an egregious fee, which I am sure is taken out extensively on the reps who are probably being paid minimally to deal with a lot of frustration. I get it. However, the 1-star rating is not solely related to expectedly poor customer service. The 1-star is primarily due to the erroneously damaging/costly advice that is given by their reps. I made numerous calls to their call center and as I stated above, went to their window. Here were the two options I was given: 1) Pay the fee, prevent your license from being suspended, and forfeit your right to an appearance in court. Payment = guilt. I was dealing with this in late September 2015 and the first available court date was December per GCS. (Side not: This $1000 penalty apparently came into effect sometime after April 2015 - prior to, there was roughly a $50-100 extension fee that could be paid. Apparently either people were paying but still not coming to court. I called every lawyer in town about this. There is nothing an attorney could do for me - they have no preferential ins to get your court date moved up or to squash the ticket with a call. Again, do you due diligence). 2) Have your license suspended and wait for a court date. This was something that just wasn't an option for me. Not willing to risk digging myself into a further ditch, I opted to pay the fee and vowed to never be so ignorant again as to make the same mistake. The more I thought about it, the angrier I got about the whole process. $1000 fee could really sink someone financially, especially in an economy when many are living pay check to pay check. I know I really worked very hard to recoup that $1000, which was akin to taking that cash and literally flushing it down the toilet. It was that senseless. I decided I had nothing to lose at that point. Here's what I did/recommend (disclaimer - this is based on my experience and situation...if you have serious violations you should probably consult multiple attorneys, do your research, and then create an plan) 1) Evaluate your situation and get all your supporting documents together. If you did in fact rectify the fix it ticket or it was erroneous, make sure you have make copies of the originals. 2) Pay or don't pay, but either way you still can go to court in LA depending on your situation. As I said, I paid, but then wrote a letter to the courthouse attaching my proof of registration, etc. People actually do read these letters which is good to know. I took accountability, said that I paid the $1000 in good faith, accept I may have forfeited my right to court, but would appreciate the chance to be granted an opportunity to present my case in front of a judge. 3) I got a reply via mail about 2 weeks later with a court date in early November. I was told by GC Services as well as a couple of attorneys I consulted that the first court date were early December. Because I mailed in my evidence with the letter perhaps things were more cut & dry. Either way, I got my day in court earlier than told/expected. 4) I appeared, the Judge called me first, I approached the bench, and was told I would receive the $1000 back less the $25 court fee. Total time in court: 15 minutes. 5) Just a few days ago, I received my check from the courts which really helped financially. I hope this helps anyone in a similar bind. With GC Services or any other "customer service call center" (for lack of a better word), always DO YOUR HOMEWORK and don't take their word blindly. It's on you. Bottom line is the rep for GC Services does not care one way or the other. It's not her $1000 on the line, I doubt he/she gets paid handsomely to deal with irate customers, and they will say whatever it takes to get rid of you/collect the fee. Frankly, I wouldn't waste my breath to even write this lengthy review b/c I don't see how anyone would give them anything but a 1 star. But, if this helps someone save $1000 bucks or provides some hope to someone who feels there is none in this situation, it was worth the effort. Good luck, stay calm, keep your composure, and let's all make sure we check our mail/don't make the same stupid mistakes again!!!!!

Google it if you're not sure. I was able to check in outside online while waiting for the doors to open. A Sheriff instructed everyone to remove anything metal from their body before going through the metal detector. So many people didn't and this held up the line a bit. These are probably the same people that parked in the wrong lot. Once in the Juror room on the 3rd floor I took a Juror badge and took a seat. They had goodie bags, bottle water, coffee, and pastries since it was Jurors Appreciation Week. Before the orientation videos several judges look time from their courtroom to come to the jury assembly room to show their appreciation. Senator Umberg was also there. I went to get my drivers license changed to real ID. 7am, we are second in line and waited an HOUR, but everyone behind me was at a window before I could even type the code into the phone. It doesn't matter what time you arrive, only how quick you are able to scan the code and get all the BS typed into your phone. If you are a bit older, or bad at tech...too bad. The younger lady at the door helping people was nice, so I had high hopes for the day. That didn't last long. I get called to the window. I put a smile on my face, say good morning sweetly. I try to explain to the woman that I wanted to upload my documents the night before, and tried to on different browsers, but their website wasn't working. She was immediately abrasive and wanted to know why I was at her window without filling out a specific form. I again explain it's because the website wouldn't let me. She acted like how dare I have the audacity to stand in her presence without it. She tells me to go to the computers across the room and fill it out. I say ok and start to leave. She doesn't even attempt to say anything else until I am 2 steps away, when he literally YELLS at me "YOU STILL AREN'T LISTENING TO ME" Loud enough for everyone (including my kid who was at a window next to me) to hear. She starts telling me how she will curb my number and I can come back to her window. I was already having back pain and she literally made me cry out of embarrassment and pain. The man at the computers also wasn't nice and offered no assistance as I stood at the computer crying and trying to figure it out. When I get near her window, she gets up and leaves without a word, and doesn't return for several minutes. I ask my kid to go scan my phone and get a new number because I can't deal with her any more. There was another issue at the next window (my fault, I bring a thousand documents but forgot my marriage license) But also dumb because its the same name on my driver's license, I needed my marriage license to get a driver's license but they don't trust their own documents I guess. I have my husband bring it to me. Long story longer, I get in line again. This time I get the kindest, sweetest elderly woman. She was so patient and so kind and I know she wants to give up, but works through every issue. First problem: my license doesn't expire for a month. No where on their site does it say you have to wait for expiration to change it over. 2nd: They had me pay online and also take a refresher course to get the real id. But she had to jump through hoops to find this information so I didn't have to pay and take a test the test again. Even though I had a printout of payment, she needed a confirmation number, that I luckily found in my phone, after she asked me to check my saved messages. She was an absolute angel and saved the day.
