Somehow, this ended up being one of the best Italian meals we've ever had -- including overseas. This was our first time here, and everything exceeded expectations. The restaurant is family owned by the chef, his wife, and their sons, and you can truly feel the passion and hospitality the moment you walk in. They came by to introduce themselves, which made the whole evening feel so personal and welcoming. The ricotta and spinach ravioli was unbelievable -- honestly one of the best pasta dishes any of us have had. The branzino was equally impressive, and that says a lot considering how much seafood we eat while traveling through coastal Italy each year. You can absolutely taste the quality of the ingredients. The owner mentioned they import their flour directly from Italy, and it definitely shows in the food. I only wish this restaurant was closer to home because I'd be here constantly. Such an incredible little spot in La Jolla.

Service: fabulous wait staff. Greeted as soon as we arrived on the steps, recommendations were provided when asked. Only slight misstep is our wait staff went MIA at the end of the night. Ambiance: reminds me of a quaint ristorante you would find tucked away from the Main Street tourist spots. Unique pathway of tucked away hidden seating area. Fresh greenery for decoration. Asked to be seated on the patio overlooking the front if possible.

What an absolutely incredible experience from beginning to the end…read more We had a group of 8 and got a last minute reservation on a Saturday night. The host was so friendly when we walked up and started what was an amazing dinner with them. Our server was just the same and just such an enjoyable dining experience. It definitely gives an authentic Italian theme in the decor. Fun but not too loud. Now the food was out of the world amazing. Loved the hot and honey pepperoni pizza. The crust was awesome and every bite was better than the last. Thanks for a great evening!!

OK there are SO many nice places in La Jolla. By contrast this one is just kinda mid…read more I ordered loaded truffle fries, and I decided maybe that was my bad for ordering fries from an Italian restaurant. They were kind of like stale, thin McDonald's fries with Parmesan and too much bacon... I don't know, I literally didn't finish them. I wanted to like them, though. So anyway then my friend got the risotto, and I asked to try it so I could maybe order some to bring home for my wife. But uh... it was pretty greasy. That's great for some folks but it's definitely not what we would have gone for. I got the Insalata Carlotta, which was decent. I really like capers and arugula, a couple of the featured ingredients. The service I thought was good. My friend didn't get there for a while and it was just me answering emails on my phone lol. The server took my cues really well on when I was and wasn't ready to order. Ambience wasn't bad either. Nice little spot nestled in between buildings. I think it's just that I wasn't a big fan of the food itself.
