So, I was searching for a sitter who could do this, which turned out to be Terri. When I first met Terri, I was extremely anxious and stressed about this diagnosis. Though I'm on my third pair of cats, I'd never had to deal with feline diabetes before. Moreover, I am an anxious mom anyway; I absolutely hate leaving my Ari and Sarah... even for a day, let alone a weekend or a week's vacation. I could not give Terri a stronger recommendation. She was absolutely wonderful! Terri watched our two elderly cats while we were out of town for a week. Prior to our trip, she came to our home to meet our cats and go over instructions for caring for them. She was warm, professional, and truly cared about how to best care for our cats. One of the two cats was diagnosed with hypertension and chronic kidney disease immediately before our trip. He was started on a daily medication, and we were given samples of different kidney diet foods the day before we left. Terri did a wonderful job of communicating with us to ensure that he got his medication, even when the way we initially asked her to give it stopped working halfway through our trip. And when we ran out of samples of the kidney diet food, Terri found more for us so that he didn't have to go back to eating his old food. She even brought our mail and packages upstairs. I am old fashioned, so when I needed a cat sitter for a long trip to Thailand, I asked people in my social network if they knew of anyone. Terri came highly recommended by a colleague I had previously worked with at Harvard Medical School. I must say, Terri is amazing. She is very nice and personable. She is also very careful and thorough. She took extensive notes when she was getting to know my cat. She even thought of things that I didn't think of, like "where is your cat's carrier in case she has to go to the vet while I'm here?" and then Terri added, "I've never had to bring a cat to the vet, but I like to be prepared in case something happens." While I was away, Terri texted me with pictures of my cute little kitty every day so that I knew everything was fine. I was able to have a worry-free vacation knowing that Terri was spending time with my cat every day. Terri also gave my cat a new catnip toy that she absolutely loves. Terri was wonderful! First of all, she was very responsive when I emailed her, and she agreed to watch my cats with less than a week to go until my long vacation. She was also convenient in the fact that she came over to my place to both pick up and drop off my keys. AND, while I was away, she sent me cute texts about my cats with pictures. If you're worried about your pets, it's a great way to reassure yourself that they're in good care. I would sum Terri overall as very sweet (my very shy cat came right over to her - almost like sensing her sweetness) and she's very reliable. While I was away, a heatwave came to Boston and she texted me that she turned on the fan and closed down the blinds from my living room, which is where both my cats were staying. I didn't even know about the heatwave! But that just shows her commitment to your cat's well being. She already knows that I will be contacting her again next time I go for a vacation. Terri is an exceptionally responsible, reliable and caring pet sitter. She has stayed over our home to baby-sit our beloved geriatric kitty, Lisa, on numerous occasions, and each time we returned from our vacation, Lisa was content and our home ship-shape. Terri has helped me for close to twenty years! I can not say enough about how responsible and reliable she is. Currently my two kitties are Elie & Monkey. They mean the absolute world to us. And, while my wife and I certainly love our fourteen year old son, I must admit we have have regularly allowed young twenty-somethings to sit for him. We moved to Boston within the last year and didn't have a network of people to lean on to watch our cat Ember when we had to go out of town. We sent Terri an email for our first big out of town trip several months ago and have been relying on her ever since. She's watched Ember for us at least 3 or 4 times now. She is extremely responsive via text and email. She also sends lovely photos of Ember each time she comes by. Lastly, we only have two keys to our apartment and as such need to do a key hand off with Terri each time we leave. She goes above and beyond and makes this process a breeze! I was panicking a few weeks before Christmas because I was not able to find a last minute sitter to take care of my baby Simba ... on a whim after typing in cat sitting services into Google, City Paws came up. Terri picked up right away and was able to squeeze me in as her last client, and I was so thankful! Every time we're away, Terri provides excellent care for our cat Sullivan. We have used her services at least 4-5 times and we were always extremely satisfied with the level of care and attention she gives our cat. Always prompt in her updates and sends a daily photo, which is very nice especially when traveling. We always know that our cat will be well fed and will have a clean litter even if we can't be there ourselves. Terri also spends time playing with our cat and even brushes him (his favorite activity). The prices are very reasonable and the customer service is superb. I have two cats and have always depended on Terri when my husband and I travel...she's dependable, spends extra time and gives them the same level of care we provide for them. Her love of animals is very apparent to anyone who meets her and she always sends pictures of our cats in play or doing what they do best (sleeping!) so we feel like we're not as far away from them. Terri is wonderful. She has been watching my Shiba Inu pup Finn for almost 4 months now and I completely trust her with all of his care. I can tell he is well taken care of and sometimes a bit spoiled-it is not unusual for her to buy him treats and toys! I got in touch with Terri to watch my 4 month old kitten, Scout. It was both of our first times being away from each other, so I was a bit nervous about leaving him in someone elses care. As a baby, he requires a lot of love, play time, and attention, and it is clear Terri gave him just that! She came over to meet him and he took to her IMMEDIATELY! Terri is an amazing cat sitter! She is easy to schedule with, cares a lot about my cats, and always sends lots of punctual picture updates. I have two cats and one of them is older and diabetic. When we go away, Terri comes to feed and inject insulin twice a day. I am so glad that I found Terri on the Next Door Hynes website. I'd been looking around, trying out various pet sitters, but none of them gave me the feeling that my cats were being cared for properly. Terri follows feeding and other instructions to the letter, doesn't leave messes behind, and spends time playing with my two hooligans. As soon as I met Terri, I knew my cat was going to be in good hands. I was especially worried because my kitty was recovering from a kennel cold.
