My cat was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and I thought that her 12 hour interval of meds would mean I could never go out of town again. Either that or I would have to board her and reintegrate her with my other cat every time she came home. Fear not! The pre-meet (Jess and Devin) was great, they asked a lot of questions, and were very patient--especially when showing them how to unlock my "charming old somerville home" front doorknob--in talking about the needed care and making sure they knew where everything needed was. My husband and I were in dire need of a vacation but one thing always stood in our way - who was going to take care of our 3 cats, especially because boarding is out of the question for them as they all have their own special needs? A simple Yelp and Internet search turned up Thoughtful Paws, so I contacted Jessika with the dates we were looking to go away and she put me in contact with Devin. We set up a meet and greet and Devin couldn't have been nicer. He took the time to make sure that he knew where each of the litter boxes was, which food belonged to which cat, how much they got and where their toys and food/water dishes were. My nerves were put at ease to know that someone so attentive to detail would be in charge of the care of my cats. It was awesome to receive e-mail updates and photos while we were away so that we could see the cats were in excellent hands. We came home to everything the way we left it and 3 very happy and healthy looking cats. Jess, the owner of TPawz, is fantastic and highly reliable. She is very busy but always manages to squeeze me in. I travel quite a bit and have two cats, one of whom requires an insulin shot twice a day, so she's a regular at my house. (I'm pretty sure the cats call her "Auntie Jess.") When I'm in a pinch financially, my friends and Jess split shifts, and she is great at communicating with them on timing, etc. I'm surprised and grateful that she's willing to do that rather than have an "all or nothing" policy. Jess also texts me pictures of the cats and sends email updates regularly. One of my cats is a needy snuggler, and I can tell she takes the time to give him some love. When he had a strange little wound on his back, she called me to talk about it and she and my neighbor ended up consulting on it together. How nice is that? Peace of mind is a wonderful thing when it comes to your furry kids. I can't recommend TPawz highly enough! read more

My cat was alive and happy when I got back which really is all I can ask for. What I didn't care for is that it seems like the little bugger didn't even miss me! This can be chalked up to the quality care he received while I was on vacation. Or he hates me. Probably the quality care though. My kitty is a fatty and has a special concoction / diet that he eats and this was taken care of well. My roommates kitty is a princess and you practically have to hold her paw to get her to eat, again, no problem. The litter boxes were also nice and tidy upon my return! We have been relying on Thoughtful Paws for the past 6 months and my gratitude for Jess' company is well overdue. We have used their cat sitting service a dozen times this year and it's absolutely amazing. We've also booked them for the rest of the summer! Not only is TPaws trustworthy and reliable, but they will go out of their way to make sure that you feel confident in their ability to take care of your pets' needs while you're away. Jess returns my emails and answers my questions by the next day. There are no stupid questions or silly requests, they get your pet and all of their quirks. I also really like that TPaws will send photos or emails to let you know how your pet is doing while they're visiting. During the past 'historic' winter, Jess emailed us in advance to double check that a neighbour had a key to our apartment incase of road closure. Jessika and Devin were great in taking care of my cat over the Thanksgiving holiday. We did an upfront interview / walk-through, and reviewed the very thorough questionnaire together. Upon arriving back after my trip, my cat was much calmer and happier than she has been after other times apart, and I credit this to Devin who stopped in everyday, and emailed me with updates. Jessika is wonderful! We have her to take care our kitties Bandit & Ciera since 2012 even before she launched her business. She is responsible, details and caring. I found Thoughtful Paws on Yelp and have been using them for about a year. Devin visits my place twice a day to take care of my two rabbits. The bunnies love Devin. He feeds them, can administer oral medications, and cleans their litter box. He's totally trustworthy and brings in the mail. Jessika and Devin promptly respond to their emails and Devin sends me a daily update with a picture of my bunnies. He also brings in the mail! I couldn't ask for a better sitter. read more

We switched to Thoughtful Paws after we had an incident with our previous pet sitter forgetting to feed our guinea pigs when we were gone for a weekend. The guinea pigs were okay, but needless to say we were quite upset and wanted to be extra-careful when selecting a new sitter. We have been very pleased with Thoughtful Paws' professionalism and organization, from the in-person interview to the level of detail they wanted about checkins. Do you want a checkin daily or after every feeding? Via text or e-mail? Do you want a photo included? Etc. Jess and everyone else I've met at Thoughtful Paws are adorable people you immediately trust. They clearly actually love cats. But beyond this, what makes this business really exceptional, is their responsiveness, reliability, and professionalism. Jess is a great communicator when scheduling or settling bills. I always know if she will be available or not (book in advance folks- I have finally trained myself to do that!). She's helped me out in stressful holiday or last minute situations when my plans changed at the drop of a hat. Finally, the biggest reason I love Thoughtful Paws, is that my cat, Timmy, is always more than content when I come home from a trip away. I really think they keep him happy. That's amazing! If you are reading this it is because you love your pet and you want to make sure that you have the best possible partners for their care. I have two cats, one with diabetes who needs an injection twice a day and one who is elderly and temperamental. I only trust Thoughtful Paws with my cats. In fact, Devin saved my cat's life by recognizing that he was in distress, letting me know immediately, and then rushing him to the ER where they were able to stabilize him. If it had been anyone else, they might have missed the subtle signs that something was wrong. I can't recommend Thoughtful Paws enough.
