Garbage service from airport to downtown. I wanted to take an Uber but travelmate preferred a cab because we were already at the ground level of the airport. Driver did not use a meter and charged $45 plus a credit card surcharge for a 10 mile ride in a beat up old minivan. The same trip in an Uber was running $15. Plus the driver was argumentative with me about the name of my hotel for some reason. Do not use this company. read more

If I could give a zero I would. Unprofessional behavior, if fact they flat out lied to me. I requested a pickup at 3:30am on today July 5th. I realize it would be early thus my call and request. They indicated it would be no problem and they would call me just before arriving. I had a plane to catch and I advised them of this fact and it was the reason for the early request. Well, obviously, they were a no show. Thank goodness for Uber! They came within 2 minutes of my call. Business like this is why ride share companies are running them out of business. I will like to thank city wide cab. I haven't had my car for three days and had no ride to work. I go to work early in the morning and it was hard for them to find a driver that early. But the dispatcher (I think his name is Beau) tried his best to find me a driver and he did!! I got to work on time! I have never said this before, but if I could give 0 stars, I would. What is that running joke people do? Text someone, "Be there in 5 minutes. If I'm not there, look at this again." Well, that is how I felt all weekend. My best friend got married this weekend and so cabs were needed from all the events because we wouldn't be driving. Every time I called them, they said they were 10 minutes away. And every time it took them 40 minutes to finally pick us up - and boy were they rude about it. "Ma'am, I don't know what to tell you. He will get there when he gets there." And expensive for the appalling conditions. One car's breaks squealed....and his "check engine" line was on. Sketchy. And one driver didn't even know where Highland and Poplar was? Isn't that their job? I spent the whole ride having to tell him exactly where to go. I'm not sure what the other cab companies are in town (or if there even are any because I called others and somehow I got another City Wide Cab to pick us up) but I'd rather pay for a towncar than go through that again. read more

They brought us to a bad part of town, a part of town we were staying, so they get a star. The other star was for the 2nd driver, who was nice and very concerned about dropping two ladies off in such a bad neighborhood. Otherwise they would have gotten none. The first ride we took the cab driver had NO IDEA where he was. He said he lived in Memphis for 10 years, but it didn't really seem like it. He got so lost he said he wasn't going to charge us for the ride. At the end he ended up knocking off 60 cents, the cab ride totaled around 30 bucks. Our ride back cost half that plus tip. You know there are only TWO things a can driver has to get right: show up on time and get you to your destination. If I have to call 3 times because he's late and then he calls me and tells me just 10 mins away and it's already 25 mins late, then someone is lousy at their job. I am giving two stars because the cab driver from airport to hotel was pleasant and had a clean car. He did not try to overcharge (as I see other reviewers experienced). However, the company rates a total fail for my return reservation from hotel to airport. I made a 5:30 am reservation. At 12:30 am (yes, 5 hrs before pick-up), I was awakened by the dispatcher calling to say their lone night driver's car had issues, and he couldn't tell me if they would be able to get someone else for my 5:30 pickup. I could call back at 5:00 am to check availability. I scheduled an Uber, which let me get some sleep and worked out fine. Next morning, as I was awaiting my Uber (which I could see on my phone was coming), a different City Wide dispatcher called to say a cab was on its way. I told him about the other dispatcher's cancellation call just after midnight, and that he could recall his cab. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

Thief Cab Driver Incident - Stolen Samsung Phone A copy of the letter I sent to their company that details how their driver stole my phone and how they made 0 attempt to retrieve it. I left my phone in a taxi when getting a ride from Graceland to the Comfort Inn on 4/30 at approximately 4 pm. I realized I left it 30 seconds after exiting the cab. I called the phone many, many times hoping the drive would hear it, pick it up and eventually return it - to no avail. The phone was in perfect working order - it was a device I used when I was in the cab and the volume was at max and the battery at 60%. The front desk at my hotel tried to assist me in retrieving it and were given the runaround from your company told a bullshit story about a lost and found department that apparently does not even exist and we were to call back after 8 am the next day. When I tried at 9 am the following day, I called and was told someone would return my call - tried several times - no return phone call. The driver it turns out was known by another driver that I hired for a ride to the airport on 5/2 who was in the process of looking for a phone for his daughter. He called the initial driver and even he called the guy a thief. He is lying about it not being in his cab. I bookmarked your company website while I was in your taxi cab. The phone was getting hot ... too hot to be in my pocket so I placed it on the seat and simply forgot to pick it up when I exited. Your driver that my party and I hired from Graceland is a THIEF - I subsequently reported the phone stolen to the carrier and to the police. I suggest someone get in contact with me and return the phone via FEDEX overnight. Expect a copy of this letter and a review of your company - it will removed if and only if I receive the phone no later than Saturday 5/4.The number to contact me was left 3 times with your company. The Memphis Airport taxi person told me that all taxis servicing the airport must take credit cards. Citywide cab number 26 evidently did not get the memo. The driver could not take my credit card which is a huge pain for me since I need to expense everything. Wonder why Uber is taking these guys business read more

I have been meaning to write this since the 4th of July. My husband arrived home after an extremely long over seas flight. We haven't taken a taxi in the city of Memphis in 25 years. We walked to the taxi stand and a City-Wide taxi was waiting for us. After our driver lifted our very heavy luggage in his van we gave him our address and he knew exactly where we lived in Germantown. He got us home quickly we paid him and he didn't have change for a tip. This gentleman very nicely said not to worry about it, he was headed home. For all the awful things said about Memphis, this man proved us wrong. His name is Foyle and I wanted him to get the recognition he deserves. I will call City-Wide Taxi the next time I need a ride home. Thank you Foyle. read more

We were 3 females travelling alone across the US and stopped in Memphis for 3 nights. We were lucky enough to find the wonderful Ed, from City Wide Cabs, at the train station. He was our go-to person for the whole weekend. Always on time, ever so friendly and with some funny stories, he was our favourite part of Memphis! read more

So he got me from my location to the airport. That's the only positive note. The bad: - Dispatch said he'd be there in 15-20 mins. 10 mins later he called me to say he'd be there in 20 mins. 30 mins after that time (45 since call), I call him back and he says he's on the ramp .15 miles from my office. 15 mins (1 hr since call) after that I call him back and he says he's by the fast food place by my office and would be there in a minute. 15 mins after that and after other calls he finally arrives 1 hour and 15 minutes after my initial call and 1 hour late. - Driver starts down the road going towards a ramp 4 miles of side streets away vs the ramp .15 miles at the corner. I corrected him. - Garmin, yeah he had one, yeah it was open, yeah it worked - The cab itself stunk. I smelled like that rotten vehicle all night. I hoped that the airplane stink would set it and overpower the cab stink since it'd be better, nope. - The drive was so bouncy and jerky I felt sick - but maybe that was the smell?! - Driver said he was concerned but could tell he really didn't care - Tried to drop me off at the wrong entrance. Delta had 4 entrances, another company had 1, my flight was with Delta, he knew it, guess where he tried to drop me off? Yup, the 1 that wasn't right. - Took him then 3 mins to boot up with credit card machine, then said my Corporate Amex was declined. Liar. - Dropped him exact cash and left Will look for a car service in Memphis for my future visits. The cabs to the airports are just awful. To and from dowtown are all fine. From the airport, fine. Please do not use this service. After speaking with the dispatcher all day long and she assured me that the driver would be here earlier than the requested time- he arrived late! Against my better judgment, I used city wide taxi for an airport shuttle from the University of Memphis. Not only was the driver late but he was in a car about two decades old (20 years). My request was for a van or suv because there were 3 passengers. Why would they send a car here that old and dilapidated? Moving forward, I will certainly use Uber car service or another reliable shuttle service. I apologized to my visitors for everything. This company is just around the corner from my house, and we have used them in the past with no problems. This past weekend we asked for cab in ten minutes and they said no problem. Thirty minutes later I received a call an they said the driver was in front of the house. I informed them he wasn't, and they told me to give him a couple more minutes. About ten minutes later, I call back and said there was still no one at the house. He said the driver was around the corner and "please don't call yellow cab." Ten minutes later the cabbie finally shows up. He then indicated he had to get gas, and we went to the gas station first. Then after almost an hour, we finally made it to our destination. I am pretty sure he overcharged as I have never paid that much before. I am pretty sure he just made up a number since he never turned on his machine to calculate the fare. The car was falling apart and the driver was terrible. Didn't even seem to know his way around memphis and had no GPS system so he relied primarily on us. We used the Lyft app on the way back home. The car was clean and the driver arrived in two minutes and got us home safely. I will never use City Wide again. I am guessing maybe they have new management because we never had issues like this before and never will again. read more

Why bother right? On Friday the 13th, of May, nearly run over by the cab driver in front of Krogers at Poplar & Highland. Yelled at the driver only for him to gun his engine and speed off, jerk. Call the office to complain and of course lady working the phones in office is clueless. She tells me the manager is gone & they can't do anything without a cab # anyway. My wallet fell out in the cab after being stranded in Memphis due to a bad flight. Te driver of my cab had enough nerve to basically steal my brand new coach wallet I had just gotten for my birthday, use my credit cards, and do god knows what with the $300 cash and all of my IDs including my SSC and military ID. According to their dispatch they are REQUIRED to report all lost property but apperantly my driver didn't get the memo. I'm lucky I had my school ID attached to my keychain or I wouldn't have been able to make my flight back to Michigan. Dispatch never helped me and promised to call me back multiple times an never did . I would walk home before I ever used this can company again. Hopefully the driver that stole my wallet and used my cards has his coming to him because I get sick to my stomach just thinking about this terrible experience. read more
