Jim is really quite honest. 1. My uncle went here because of a sticky shift. They looked it over and checked everything out and then test drove it for almost 30 minutes. Then they went to him, took no money and showed him a trick to get past the sticky shift. They said, it wasn't worth the money to really fix the shift. Instead, they should just use this little trick to shift the car into second. They took no money even for 30 minutes of diagnostics. 2. I went there because my car got really loud when I got higher than 30 miles/hour and it sounds like I have a flat, but I really don't have a flat. I keep checking tires, but it wasn't that. They checked it out and told me it was the transmission. My car was worked on for two days. The price was good! The car quieted down and they have a one year warranty for the transmission too. 3. While waiting to speak to Jim, I listened in to him dealing with another customer. The other customer was not happy with the cost of replacing some rims. Jim quoted him a labor price that wasn't too bad and told him to go online to get some rims and bring them in. He even gave the address and phone number to the customer of some Rim places. It's good that they still believe that the customer is always right. Their service is good and the price is reasonable. OH and I want to mention that Jim just let me drive the car around to test drive it (He said that I better bring up on the highway to see if the sounds come back.) I took it out and he just trusted me! I could have driven it away all the way to home and not paid him. Yup, I didn't pay him yet and he let me test the car to see if I'm happy. The sounds did reduce a lot.

They were great about responding, showing up in under an hour, and towing our van directly to the work site which was approx. a 45 minute tow. That is when the experience went sour. The driver demanded payment of $1,500. CASH. He would not unhook the van until paid. After we haggled and argued for 20-30 minutes, one push of the "dial" away from calling 911, he agreed to drop the fee to $1,000 CASH. We had NO choice as it was night time, we were now late to start the job, and had two of our contractors waiting for the van and it's belongings. We paid $500. cash, and one of the contractors had to Venmo the other $500. WE BASICALLY GOT ROBBED! Only reason we didnt call the police is that it was our mistake for not asking how much the tow would cost ahead of time. So, this guy just saw our desperation and completely took advantage of the situation. NOT sure that Adams Towing even knows about this? Tow truck driver may have even been the owner, not sure... Hopefully NOT! As this was disgraceful. We were expecting to pay maybe $500. which we feel would have been fair.... shame on us for trusting and not asking for a price first, but SHAME ON THIS GUY for taking advantage and demanding $1,500. Firstly I was told that this tow truck company would come and retrieve my car in less than an hour. It took over three hours with them constantly pushing the time later and later each time I called. Thankfully Elvis managed to get my car to the auto body shop in one piece and all was well! Upon getting my car from the auto body shop this morning and driving home i noticed that the tow hitch was still in the front of my car which i tried to pull and get out. I called the company since they mistakenly left it in and spoke to rich, Richard, who would not give me his last name although he obviously knew mine. He told me try to do it myself or come to Manhattan. I told him i couldn't and i wasn't coming out to Manhattan from Brooklyn for something that was their fault. They were fast and nice. While there they noticed my tail light was busted. They ordered one right away and told me to come back the next day in the afternoon. I went two days later. I just showed up- they said stay in your car. They did it for me right there while I was waiting. Fast and nice and that's what I want. I can not speak to prices because it's a fleet vehicle so I never see the cost. This is not a fancy place where you go in, wait, have coffee in the lounge etc. It's a dirty- greasy garage- and as long as they stay as fast and courteous as they were- that's plenty good for me.
