My car got illegally towed here - not only are they jerks but also liars and frauds (especially Ronnie - beware). My car was parked legally with permits and this company illegally towed it away. Then they charged me for extra days of storage even though I had my car with me on those days - I had gas receipts to prove it but instead of listening to reason, Ronnie started screaming at me over the phone. This place is a huge SCAM. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this fraudulent establishment. Don't hesitate to call the cops to keep these guys in check. read more

Worst wrecker service ever. I was involved in a drunk driver accident on 11/11/18 at 2:45 A.M., County was called by the New York State troopers to pick up my car as well as the drunk drivers car. They brought two flatbeds and my car was placed on the under reach of one of the wreckers. When they picked up my car it only had front end damage due to the impact. Two days later I go to pick up my vehicle, there was damage on every corner of my car. Granted the accident happened on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the pitch black but my vehicle did not have one scratch or dent prior to the collision, I only had the car for 4 months. They charged me almost $400.00 in fees just for two days of storage. Mind you guys, my vehicle was stopped on the side of the highway which was easily accessible by the tow truck. To make a long story short, if you have options DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If I were able to I'd give them no starts. read more

Last Saturday night at about 11PM I was stranded on the Taconic Parkway in Westchester with a flat tire. I needed to be in NYC by 12:30 for a music gig. My first call was to my insurance company roadside assistance. They informed me that because I was on a hwy they would have to call local police to help. A few minutes later a County Police car pulled up, and they placed the call to County Auto. The truck arrived in a few minutes, and the driver swiftly changed the tire. All of this in a horrible downpour. I was shocked at the swiftness of the response, and the efficiency of the repair. Even though I didn't concern myself with cost because my insurance company was picking up the tab, the bill was still reasonable. I ended up making it into NYC just in time for my performance. (whew) Not a horrible experience considering the position I was in. I'd like to say I'll use them again but, hopefully it'll be under better circumstances. read more

THIS BUSINESS IS A COMPLETE & UTTER RIP-OFF & CON!!! My car started shaking while coming off the exit in Elmsford. Called AAA--tow truck arrives from County Towing/Repair----this is where the con starts--I let driver know where I'd like to be towed & he says hey why don't you take the car over to my shop, we got mechanics on duty who will have you in & out quickly--yea your kinda car is easy to repair. Dumb me falls for this & lets tow driver take me to County Repair. I believe tow driver's name is Wilson??. To make a long story short--after taking about an hour to diagnose the car the mechanic in charge--Steve, says I need a new distributor as oil is leaking into the one in the car. And of course his estimate, around $850, includes a NEW distributor mind you for an 11 y/o car. I said could you possibly get a rebuilt distributor--no can do. Note-there were 2 mechanics in the shop so I'm not sure which incompetent was working on the car. I asked if anything could be done just to fix the shaking of the car, at least temporarily and also fix it so that engine light is not flashing which is obviously an indication of a problem. He said yes, he'd change the distributor cap, change the spark plugs and clean the area in question up a bit & I should be good to go without any problems although he did suggest I get the distributor changed in the near future. Total cost of this con=$400 but i was in a vulnerable situation & had to do this in order to be able to escape the throngs of these unscrupulous cons & thieves. Well after waiting another hour for the "repair" or should I say destruction of my car to be done, the mechanic comes out to me and says--the work is done BUT one of your cylinders is not firing, no compression, or in other words broke. He said all the cylinders were fine when they started work but for some reason one went, hmm couldn't be that they broke/damaged it whilst attempting to repair it. Then he matter of factly stated I needed a new motor & could probably find one on e-bay! Having had the car subsequently checked by other mechanics I was informed that a cylinder does NOT suddenly break while in a repair shop and proper procedure is to first check the spark plugs and cylinders when there's a misfire or shaking of the car which was NOT done by these 2 incompetent idiot "mechanics". And finally I was able to leave with the car in the exact same way in which I brought it into County Repair except my wallet was minus $400.00. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS BY ALL MEANS. read more

Great guy, spotless vehicle, all done in an hour. When he arrived I wasn't in the best mood, by the time he dropped me off I was glad to have met him. PLEASE BEWARE! These people are CON ARTISTS and EXTREMELY overpriced. I have used this place multiple times knowing their prices are totally ridiculous but the location is very convenient for me. However, after my last experience I will never return. The mechanic (STEVE) can not be trusted. I brought him my car and without looking at the car he told me it needed a new engine in it and it would cost $4500. (Another mechanic was able to fix the cars issues for $700.) After refusing to pay $4500. I called AAA to tow the car to another location. Unfortunately, County was the tow truck company. The tow truck driver put my car on his truck and I tipped him $20 for the inconvenience of having to drive to another location. Hours went by and I reached out to the new auto mechanic to see if they received the car. The new mechanic responded saying no. After further investigation I found out my car had not left County and the tow truck driver took the car off his truck after I had left. When I spoke to County about this situation they were nothing but rude and disrespectful. This place is taking advantage of people. I am disgusted in the event that has occurred and will NEVER return. read more

Turns out my car had to be towed all the way home, Over 1 hour away. The truck was immaculate and the driver was very professional and friendly. The ride home seemed like 10 minutes. After my car was involved in an accident this is the authorized tow company which responded. The company charged insurance to tow from their Ardsley shop to their Yonkers shop, the subsequently to the transmission shop, then paint shop, frame shop all of which when I picked my car up were within 1block. The shop manager kept pushing the finish date back further and further ( over a month). 4 supplementals were sent to the insurance company suddenly finding more issues and needing to be towed to other shops once again. Once picked up odd noises were heard from the vehicle but frustrated I took it to my usual mechanic who found several bolts were never put back into the car. I had an outrageous experience with this company. Triple A sent them out after I reported a dead battery. The repair guy put the jumper cables on backwards, resulting in an electrical fire that blew out not only a battery but several fuses. But I did not know that at the time. He just said it didn't look good and I better have car towed to the dealer. Since dealer was more than a couple miles away, Triple A did not cover fee. Dealer charged almost $800 to repair and said right on invoice that the trouble had been caused by backward jumpers. I also had to pay for a rental car, so altogether was out about $1,000. After Triple A "mediated", County Auto's guy flat out lied, saying I told him someone else had tried to jumpstart car before him. They said they'd reimburse $150 just to be "nice." I had a blown tire while driving on the Sprain Brook Parkway after dark in traffic. Not a very comfortable position to be in and AAA was not authorized to come onto the parkway. The New York State Police contacted County Auto and gave me an eta of 10 minutes. They were close, it was 15 minutes and the tow truck operator removed my flat, put it in the trunk and the spare on in less time than it took me to fill in my information on their invoice. He was friendly and very professional and more than deserved the tip I gave him. read more

If I could rate any lower I would. Went here to get air in my tire and the machine ate my money. I then went to the store to see if they could fix the machine. They then sent to the auto service office. There I waited and waited and waited for someone to help. About 20 minutes later a man comes out and waves a dollar in my face and states "here's your dollar get your air down the street I will not serve you here" I then asked him why and he states that I was rude. If this man can get nasty unprovoked I don't know what he capable of so I left. I would not recommend this place for auto repair they are rude and unprofessional. After years of loyal service, I had a huge problem with this repair shop and will not go back. Monday, I had the alternator belt replaced and other maintenance done on the car. As usual they worked quickly, at a fair price, and I left happy. Tuesday, my car shut off in the middle of an intersection. I had it towed back to County Auto, and as the car had no power, assumed they just had a small problem with that alternator they worked on and would gladly handle it. Today I was told that it will cost over $600 and that the entire alternator (only 4 months old) would need to be replaced. I was told that it was just conincidence they had been working on it the day before, and that I have until 4 o'clock today to decide if they will get over $900 of my money altogether or have it towed off the lot. read more

They dispatched County Auto & Commercial Towing North -- he came, he got it started, told me it was a starter, and quoted estimated cost. I made a call and found it was fair and competitive. He offered to pick up and deliver. I was not in a rush, but fact is he got it back in a couple hours. Highly recommended. read more

Went to County Towing North to have car worked on they did a great job they also did the right thing on new set of tires for my car. The price was more then fair and they have the machines to high speed balance them most places farm it out. Plus shop is super clean and neat these guys take pride in there work. It looks to me that no job is to small or to big for them to do. The staff is very knowledgeable a lot of mechanics in the shop, not only did they change oil but they top off fluids and look over car before giving back. read more

County Auto has really great guys working there--accommodating and nice--but unfortunately that does not make up for the fact that they robbed me of $1000 to fix my car's heating core and two days later, I am forced to pull over as I watch smoke billowing from under my hood. Additionally, before it got towed there, my convertible top worked perfectly, like the car was brand new (it is 25 years old) but now it is completely unresponsive. I would like to give this a negative star rating, but Yelp does not allow me to do that. I had been a long time customer of this service station, bringing all of my cars in for service over the last 10 years. On December 27th, 2012 I brought in my 2005 Toyota Camry, because there was fluid leaking from under the car. They said they would look under the car and let me know what they found. Steve from the service department called to tell me that the front pump seal for the transmission had gone and that the car could no longer be driven. In order to repair the car they would either have to take the engine out or the transmission. As I continued to speak with Steve, the mechanic, he then told me that he could find me a replacement transmission for $1,500.00. Since I am not a mechanic, and this seemed like a lot or repair work, I decided to speak with my two brothers before making a decision about this repair. They thought that they should look at the car, because this also seemed like a lot of work for a car that I had driven into the gas station just several hours earlier. I called the station back and let them know that my brothers would be coming to collect the car in the morning and could I leave the car overnight at the service station. Yes, for $65.00 storage I could leave the car. OK, so while that is alot of money to keep the car overnight, I agreed to pay that. In this coversation with Steve, he told me he could junk the car for me. Well, a running 2005 Toyota Camry in fair condition is worth $4,000.00; could this car just be junk? In another conversation with someone from the service station, I was told they would give me $400.00 to take the car off my hands. At that point, I knew that my brothers were coming for the car, so I just thanked them and said I'd be in to pick up the car with my brothers the following day and pay for all charges, $95.00 for diagnostics and $65.00 to overnight storage. When we arrived to collect the car, one brother stayed with me and the other went to look at the car. The owner (Kenny) blew a fit and started yelling about not walking on his lot. He had a dog, it was a private lot; if someone get hurt, on and on. I apologized, told him to calm down and to stop yelling at me. He countered with "Are you telling me to calm down?" and promptly added a $75.00 towing charge to remove the car from the place it had been parked. So now I was looking at $95.00 for diagnostics; $65.00 for overnight storage and $75.00 for a tow to the front of his service station. When I tried to prevail upon the owner to not charge me $75.00 for the tow, he just got nasty and told me it wasn't a spa; he runs a business and he has heard every sob story there was; I was just another victim; all the while he was screaming at me. So I paid all of the charges and he moved the car to the street. While there I let me know what a miserable person he was, and how nasty he was behaving. At which point he hooked my car back up onto his tow truck and told me that I had not paid him properly. So back to the service station we went, but I called the police to join me, figuring that I was going to need help. The police arrived and heard probably very similar stories from both sides, I paid and he had my credit card, but the owner felt that I would dispute the transaction once I left. So with the assistance of the police officer, I paid $246.17 in cash and the car was hooked back up to the tow truck and deposited on the street once again. Now my dear brothers were waiting and attempted to start the car once Kenny left it on the street. Funny thing was now the battery was dead. So I went from a car that I drove into the service station 24 hours earlier to a car that needed a new transmission, with a dead battery. My brothers were able to put my car on their trailer and are bringing it to their home and see what's what. I will report back on what they find. read more
