My husband and first tried City Wok (Colby, Kansas) when it was brand new. The food was so tasty and perfectly prepared. We went back one one more time and it was a totally different experience. Orange Chicken was gummy, Won Ton Soup lacked flavor. I truly forget what else we ordered, but we probably won't be back any time soon. So disappointed from then to now. read more

The worst service ever every time. Decided agains't better judgement to try again....They lobby/line was only moderately busy with them slowly taking a new order every 4-5 minutes. SEVEN employees behind counter, with a lot of conversation that's personal happening (hablo espanol, btw). Since I don't eat carbs, I asked if they could replace the rice with greens. After a ridiculous amount of discussion, they just said no. So I ordered Kung Pao chicken (no rice), greens (both of which they charged me full price), hot and sour soup, and a large iced tea $28. Cashier wanted me to take my soup with me to go get the tea at the fountain, so I asked that she keep it with the rest of my food, which seemed to annoy her. Went to the fountain- NO TEA. It was bone dry, looked like they hadn't ever made any for the day. I went back to the counter and asked them to make tea. All just stood there until they finally made the most junior employee walk out to make the tea. She put the teabag in and nothing happened. I realized she didn't turn the machine on. Went back to the counter and explained she didn't turn it on. Matronly cashier, just stared at me, then acted like she didn't care. After several minutes waiting to see if they would send someone, I started messing with the machine until I figured out how to get it to brew tea. After I got it working, approximately 5 minutes after I had asked the second time, an employee came out to check on it. When I get to my hotel, I see that they plopped a fortune cookie, sweet and sour sauce, and soy sauce, none of which I asked for, in the middle of my king pao chicken, immersed in sauce....yuck. This is a food counter. It could be easily managed on a busy night with 3 people (if all three were working). No reason to pay all seven to stand there and look annoyed when they have a customer. Also....food isn't even very good, tastes just like you would expect if there were no recipes and the people who cooked it only speak Spanish. I will never stop here again. Always go to China Buffet up the street instead, better value, better service, better food. read more

Stopped in on our way back to Kansas City and had the worst experience here. the lady's behind the counter were very rude and had bad attitudes about a customer coming to order food. We got a sweet and sour chicken combo and orange chicken combo and both were terrible. The chicken was extremely soggy and tasted llike it had been sitting for hours. The crab Rangoon was also extremely soggy and smelled fishy. My sweet and sour chicken also had a piece of plastic in it. this place should be shut down. read more

So when we got our food he yelled the food name so we went and got it and there was no bag like usual then we sat down to eat and I had ordered noodles with it and got nothing but shreds of carrots. One of the Cooks literally had a tenper tantrum because I asked to have my chicken remade after it was served a little pink in the middle. Then proceeded to tell the manager that the reason I was upset was because I didn't want vegetables. I piped up to correct him / told the other employee I could hear him giving her a lame excuse. I understand why South Park uses this Chinese place in their episodes but they pronounce it shitty Wok because he's Chinese very shitty Wok indeed. I try and order a combo Woman that Spanish can hardly speak English tells me I couldn't have one they're not doing them now well take it off your menu if it's not an option. Then I asked for a medium drink and she gives me a small of course probably the barrier of her not being able to speak English correctly so she didn't understand anything I was saying. This place never has any options to choose from. I've gone a few times and each time, they only have half or a fourth of their menu available. And the food they have available isn't that good. There's a reason why whenever I'm in there, majority of the people are eating Qdoba just next to the City Wok station. It's a shame since a place like Panda would be much better and actually do well. The service was good no complaints there but the food was absolutely horrible the beef fried rice was undercooked, Bland, and over all gross. The spring rolls were mushy, Bland and over fried. We also got 3 Krab Rangoon's also bland and the texture was Disgusting they were not made properly. Will not eat here again. read more

When this place opened it was one of my favorite quick Chinese restaurants In Colby but after this visit was my last. Go to Qdoba right next to it (take it to go cause the seating area is gross), this Chinese takeout is not worth your money. The chicken is terrible, if you can even call it that and they have teriyaki advertised but they don't serve it?? They skimped on my side of rice like wayyy skimped and the whole experience was just bad. Im super bummed cause I love Chinese Takeout!! :( Oh, and watch out for the compost straws this place is using, they're more fragile than fine china porcelain. read more

They wont keep a buffet out. Even during lunch time claim it cook to order. Well that great but then they say it cost more almost 45 to 50 percent more cause they wanna Jack up the price. Dont go there unless u wanna pay more go to a regular buffet. My last time I ended up paying $26.52 vesres the 17.92 for the same meal. And they not putting a buffet out at all as one day I stop it 12 noon no buffet next time 1pm still no buffet only cook to order.
