My fellow Yelpers (Lorn C. and Mikhail C.) decided to explore the Third Thursday event here as one of Lorn's friends was displaying her art that night. Lorn and I had been to this venue for the Yelpie awards and decided to return as we were impressed with the artwork the first time we came. Third Thursdays is a free event each month and it displays the works of various artists. Also, if you park at the Plaza parking lot on Court Avenue just a few blocks away, your parking ticket is validated, and you only pay $4. We got there around 6:30pm and the place was already packed. We got a drink at the cafe and a shout out to Miles for being a fun server and a good conversationist. We then proceeded to see all the art displays from photography to paintings to ink drawings. The main floor is much roomier as the second floor was quite crowded and tight given the separate rooms for the displays. But we still enjoyed ourselves and got to see the work of Lorn's friend, Grace Garvey, as well as other artists. The second floor's main room was dedicated to "Black & White" artist renderings and many of the displays were quite intriguing. The main floor had some excellent concert photographs that exuded the energy and passion of the performers as well as the crowds. This is definitely a fun free event to attend in downtown Orlando. read more

What a wonderful art museum! We started out at city arts Café next-door, waiting for it to open. When it finally did, we were met by a wonderful woman that told us about the different displays in the building. We were then able to go on our own and visit the displays. Pictures were allowed, which was wonderful because I didn't want to forget some of them and they were great inspiration. They had a great selection of art, including art by teens and it is FREE so what a great value. We've decided we'd like to go every so often to keep up with the displays. read more

Forgot to leave a review on this place a month ago. But this is the best art gallery I've been too. Upon walking in you get hit with the scent of the coffee from the cafe. We walked in is what empty but we walked around the bottom floor then went upstairs and it was absolutely gorgeous. read more

I love to see how this Orlando staple keeps evolving. I first visited many years ago for the inaugural Dia De Los Muertos event. Recently I attended the Yelpies in December, then again in January for a Third Thursday event. That's only 3 different examples of events they regularly have here. I loved the Third Thursday event because it was themed black and white which means every entry had to be in black and white. There were so many artists of all different kinds of medians. It looked so aesthetically pleasing having everything match colors but completely stand out individually by each artist. This was also my friend Grace Garvey's gallery debut and she had so many visitors to her art. Every artist was there gladly chatting along with the attendees and so proud of their work. The display was in the large room upstairs, but because there were so many attendees, it did get a little crowded and bottle necked at some points. They outside courtyard is so stunning. This is where the Yelpies where held. It's covered and blocked off from the street, but it's airy and open with gates. There's a little bar and cafe inside there with minimal options. They did validate parking in the Plaza garage making parking only 4 hours for the entire night. I believe this is only for some events, so double check the details of the events. During the Yelpies there was a beautiful interactive art display that took up half the upstairs, but was so impactful. I would love to see more interactive exhibits like the womb one in December. read more

I found the space nice and the artwork interesting but there was no real WOW factor in my wandering around. Its two stories and some of the art exhibits are interactive which is pretty cool. But I would not bring my kids back here to experience it as the art work was more for adults than children. The bar was nice to have as an addition. I absolutely love the Third Thursday Art showcases being held in downtown. The first , inaugural, event was at city arts and I was beyond impressed. The art was amazing. Both levels showcased some true talent. There was even a show for modern dance/movement that captured the attention of the audience. The drinks were good, free organic ice cream was provided as well. It was the perfect girls night, date night or solo night out activity. There was art mediums of all kinds, so something for everyone. I have been back 3 times since and I have not been let down since. During the day the space is also a coffee shop so you can do work and hang with friends in the exhibits which is unique. I love that it can be both a day and night activity and isnt necessarily affected by the time of day. If you're ever down town , stop in. And definitely check out the Third Thursday art events. I came for the event on "Dia de los Muertos", I got a Yelp hookup but I also payed it forward by inviting ($$$) a couple of friends, which I guess is the least I can do, besides writing a review and using social media, to help out this pretty cool business. The art that they had inside was pretty amazing, some pieces being from local artists which I found to be great step towards helping the community. The prices of many of the pieces were not sky high, some were pretty affordable, I am pretty sure a lot of the art work got sold. As you can see in the pictures, some of the stuff was amazing. It is a great place to come and check out art. Also, they had food trucks and vendors, this was one of the best events I have been to in a long time. read more

Took a day off & my husband, who is an artist, suggested CityArts. It is located on Magnolia. We found street parking on E. Orange, 2hours for $2. Not bad. Entrance is free, they accept donations, recommended $5. We love galleries, the white walls, arrayed with the soul work of wonderful artists. There 2 floors of art & a bar area. I am sure during non-covid times, this place is amazing. Most of the art, if not all, were of BIPOC. Beautiful, colorful, meaningful, inspiring & wonderful. Art relaying messages of awareness, real things, real people & real life. There was also sculptures and drawings. One day my husband will have a show here and it will be amazing! read more

Came here for the opening of my friend's art show for the first time and it's super cute! There are two floors and a sizable cafe area. There were a ton of people at the opening so it got crowded but there's a natural flow that meant you didn't feel crowded for long. CityArts is downtown and parking would usually be an issue but the library parking garage is legit almost right next door so super convenient. Anyway check out my friends art show! read more

What a neat little spot! An art gallery and cafe currently exhibiting a gorgeous Alice in Wonderland collection! The cafe was diner cute and cozy in decor and the menu had all the classics, as well as a few unusual beverage options! I ordered an oatmilk cortado and was not disappointed! Tonight's ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new CityArts Factory was wall-to-wall artists and art lovers looking to rub elbows, take copious pictures and enjoy a bit of vino while enjoying ballet and flamencos dancers performing for their pleasure. To our collective delight this multi-level art factory was enough to contain most of our merriment, save what spilled out to the street. Respect to the factory director and team in charge of organizing and executing this event because it was intended to inspire everyone to appreciate the beauty and inclusivity of art. There is a very warm spot in my heart for the Arts, and those brave souls that have the wherewithal to expose their creations to the world. I am very thankful for the fact that those who are creative, choose to share their talents with the public and CityArts Factory is an amazing space for this. What an amazing local art gallery located in the heart of downtown Orlando. This location and the various people behind the scenes does an enormous amount of work for improving the cultural awareness in the city. You can't beat free admission! This location is an infusion of local and international works of art all rotated on a monthly basis. They house a large array of art from photography to pencil drawings. Third Thursdays is one of the best events around town. They host the main party each and every Thursday and encourage the community to come out and celebrate art and partake in an evening of sights, sounds, food, shopping, and cosmopolitan fun. 2019 Review 7/100 A small art gallery but they make up for it by switching out the art frequently. They switch out the art monthly so there is always something new. So many great pieces showcasing local talent. And most of the featured pieces can be purchased. Every month when the art swaps out they also have a kick-off show where you can grab a drink and check out the new exhibits. Additionally, this is a great venue to host an event. My friend and I had the best time attending Art After Dark at the City Arts Factory. Considering I'm not really a creative person or passionate about art, I can honestly say CityArts has it all and perfect for everyone! The location is off Pine and Orange next to the Plaza building so I recommend parking on that garage for $4 validation. I do wish they had more than one bathroom but it's understandable that it's probably not needed if an event isn't going on. There were so many galleries of all different art - calligraphy, ink, marble, digital, etc. Art After Dark included drinks and bites from some really fantastic vendors. Artisan's Table was my personal favorite. I absolutely loved the fashion sketching by Samantha Shumaker. She sketched a really cute version of me in a quick amount of time. So great I even hung it up at home. Paul's Poems was there too writing cool poems based on a topic of your choice. Ours was shark and friends. You can read it in my pics. We were able to paint our own art on small canvases to take home using stencil. Paint pens are sooo easy! I bought Wayne the Great white shark from Artisan's Furniture. The artist and owner of the shop gave me a deal on the framed picture too. Hands down my favorite part of the night was henna by AshRock Art. The artist was amazing!!!! She was so quick and very friendly. She deserve lots of support so she can continuing to do what she loves. You can also find her at Universal but prefers individual events like this one. We were not able to get tarot reading done but I appreciated the handmade notes she gave to all stopping by. Overall, Art After Dark has so much to offer at such an amazing price of only $40! The CityArts factory is located in the so-called Downtown Arts District, although this is the only arts-y thing that I know of in the area. This building is a breath of fresh air, in a some what lackluster art scene in Orlando. The CityArts Factory is a conduit of all different types of arts, ranging from visual arts to performing arts, from artists in the Orlando area. They have a lot of different factions, including art studios, classroom space, and space for rental where artists can rent a room or area to display their latest works. It is really something that is direly needed here in Orlando. read more

Whenever there is an amazing art-centered event downtown, CityArts always seems to be involved. The rotating shows that come through here have always been amazing. The shows that occur here are a great place to go to grab a beer or glass of wine and wander around the creatives and the art. Everytime I do this in lieu of just parking myself at a bar, I always feel a creativity surge afterwards. The one thing that I myself want to add is benches throughout for people who want to park themselves in front of the art and appreciate it longer. But hey, support this venue enough and you never know. The staff here also puts 110% into their job and promoting events. Great art, great employees, great venue. This Art gallery is making ART accessible to all and for new and emerging artist a place to exhibit their art for a little or no cost. The third Thursday of every month there's always a new exhibit with 22 venues in a 1 mile radius. If being in a crowd is not your thing you have 3 weeks to peruse the arts until the theme is change for the following month. COOL TREASURE IN DOWNTOWN ORLANDO Local, young, hip- best description right there. CityArts is roughly the same size as your typical suburban house where each room (including the hallways) feature a different artist and a continuously rotating display. CROSSING MOST MEDIUMS BUT PAINT IS KING During our visit last month, my favorite exhibit involved photography of beautifying a person's physical insecurities. Visitors were also welcomed to write their own worries while a mirror challenged their thoughts. Besides interactive art such as this, there were also more whimsical displays; colorful paintings of Fish drinking at a bar, small murals covering the hallway, even more paintings to stare at while you're drinking from the water fountain. PLEASE DONATE AND HELP THIS PLACE OUT During our Saturday early afternoon visit, there were only one or two others. I attribute low attendance to its location in Downtown Orlando- an area still working on getting weekend visitors. Front desk worker Tre was very chatty and passionate about the place. This place operates on donations (and they'll validate a portion of your parking at a particular garage). Let me start by disclosing I'm not involved in "fine art appreciation" in any professional experienced capacity. Strictly a layman who only has his personal opinions as his tutor. YiKEs!! Yeah, isn't this a scary way to start off a review!?? Considering all the times I have been engaged in viewing different art studios and museums, I am lead to this conclusion: Art studios are like a box of chocolates; you just don't know WHAT you are going to get. Wasn't that saying in a some movie? : ) Now even though this conclusion reads to be in a negative connotation, it isn't. Often times you can and will be surprised by a delightful sight or concept when you step out and do it walk the rooms! That I believe is the intrigue to art galleries! Even happening across one joyful work can make the entire experience worth it. Mentally enriching your love of "things" painted, crafted or simply composed can be a priceless and lifelong enrichment. So, I encourage the exposure if you have never given art galleries a go. It may alter your perspectives in a most positive way. CityArts Factory is that box of chocolates! You simply have to open your mind and walk the gallery for yourself. This and any another gallery (I'd presume) are to be judged not nesessarly by the art they present, but how they have accommodated their guests and presented their works. I was tickled to learn that many of their current pieces were in a layman's budget also - which was good. When I have the perception that much of what I'm viewing is sorta in my "art budget", (if I dare even stretch the categories in my personal household finances so) the experience becomes even more personal; because I may even spring for some of that local art! This is a non assuming gallery (not real fuu-fuu) so I felt comfortable in my Fla. Summer Garb of sandals and shorts. IMO now. They may prefer not to endure that trend, but really, my legs aren't that ugly yet!? That doesn't mean I always choose the right "attire", I just felt welcomed as I was into the gallery. I love the concept of the CityArts Factory and the fact that most of the galleries have new exhibits every month. My favorite new addition is the Lee James Floral Gallery. Best off all, admission is FREE! On the Third Thursday of every month they do a gallery hop with other downtown galleries and unveil that months exhibits. This is a perfect time to meet with local artists and art lovers. I must be a bit of a snob now and say that most of the rotating exhibits don't excite me all that much. This is mostly due to the fact that the galleries are rented out monthly to most anyone who is willing to pay and doesn't necessarily reflect on the CityArts factory itself. Since art is subjective, don't get mad at me, just get down there and decide for yourself! read more

I'll admit I'm not very experienced when it comes to art shows in this format. Im used tovisiting museums and art installations, but a gallery where you can meet new people, eat, and drink while browsing art by a variety of talented artists was an amazing experience. The area was pretty spacious, plus it was nice to have the several entertainment sections to bond with your date and other visitors. We decided to sit at a table where you could paint on tiny easels with provided stencils. I'm definitely glad I found out about this space and can't wait for the next event they throw! read more

Great Gallery, the Halloween theme was super cool. I liked how it was attached to a couple smaller stores that also displayed art. Free entry, though they do take donations, makes this a no-brainer. I'm by no means an art aficionado but I do enjoy a purty picture from time to time... hahaha. I'm only partly kidding; I am an evolving art enthusiast so the CityArts Factory was worth the visit. Especially since you can't bet an opportunity for FREE ADMISSION in Orlando. The gallery was very laid back, a great place older kids to get a art exposure. They were in the process of reorganizing some of the displays when we went and we were lucky enough to meet one of the artists. He was super approachable and friendly. We talked at length about our interpretation of his work (haha) and then he explained what he was actually expressing (we weren't completely wrong). Such a cool place! I visited on the third Thursday and just soaked up the array of vivid colors, vibes, fashion, and music. Ah-mazing! The art community is always filled with such an array of people that is quite sure to keep anyone entertained and inspired. Vendors selling jewlery, art pieces, hair ornaments, post cards, etc also filled the rooms. Definitely worth a visit for your creative fix. read more

On my days off, I really like to visit the City Arts Factory. This museum in downtown Orlando features art work from all local artists. Most pieces in the gallery are up for sale, so it's a great place to look if you want to add something creative to your home. I really enjoy this museum they constantly feature new work. While this is a great location to visit since it's free, they run based on donations so every now and then I like to donate to help keep the art on the walls. read more

CityArts Factory was one of those places that I would only see at night... while I was drunk... going home after a night downtown. One day, my bf and I decided to go in during the day time hours because they had an awesome aquarium exhibit going on. First off, admission is free, but it's suggested that you make a donation to keep the gallery going. They're definitely worth the donation and you'll recognize that once you've walked through the entire gallery. There are several different rooms that feature different types of art works. A lot of the work they had seemed very abstract and I loved it. They even had a room where they feature the work of young artists. My favorite exhibit was the aquarium exhibit, but it was only there for a limited time. It was pretty awesome. All in all, it's pretty easy to spend almost an hour just looking around and admiring all of the art. Can't believe it's free, but seriously, donate. It's worth it. read more

Explored this place today during my lunch hour. It's well worth it if you happen to be in downtown. It's not a large gallery, though I'm not really a judge of that. I will go every third thursday on my lunch hour; it's nice to get out of the office. The artwork is by local artists. I saw prints going for $10, however the majority of artwork displayed is in the $200 to $3,500 range. read more
