This business reports false information regarding businesses contact information in hopes that the business will pay CitySearch and/or CityGrid Media $100 per month to correct the listing. Unfortunately incorrect business information on listing directories affects a business's NAP (acronym for Name, Address, and Phone number) and thus decreasing the authority of that business in Search Engine Optimization. When attempting to contact this company they will respond in two to three weeks, requiring the business owner to pay a monthly subscription of $100 a month to make changes to the listing. They then state that the business needs to use services provided by companies like Yext/Synup/Advise Local to having a listing corrected. CityGrid is a total scam. They lead me to believe that they were offering a pay-per-click service to my website. I even verified it by saying, "This isn't a pay-per-view service". The sales rep said "No!" and I joked that the "I didn't want to pay for someone viewing me on a map." After the first 4 hours of the campaign, I realized that it WAS a pay-per-view. They even charged me for a map views! Then, I compared the clicks to my website from the citygrid report for the first two days against the my google analytics. They claimed 19 click and I only received 9 referrals - ALL FROM KNOWN SOURCES NOT FROM CITYGRID, i.e. my blog, my YouTube, my Facebook. This discrepancy questions the validity of their whole reporting which appears to be intentionally vague. I called to cancel after the first few hours of the campaign starting because they misrepresented the service. They continued to charge me all month. After attempting to scam me and me explaining the reason, they continue to harass me to pay for the service. read more

This company is an outright and absolute scam. It's a Pay-Per-Click service, and not even a good one at that, though it's clearly NOT represented or explained to you that way when you first sign up with them. We were told that we would be charged $1.80 for every customer walking into our door - NOT for every click on our website. I even asked if this was a Pay-Per-Click service and was told that it was NOT. Seems I was lied to from the get-go. After closing our account with them - in writing, then closing the bank account that they stole our money out of, and then performing a charge-back on the money that they illegally stole from us, we then received a fake Debt and Collections email from them. Nice try, but no cigar. Our response to them was : We will never do business with their company again. We will report any further emails received from them as SPAM. In the event that we do receive any further emails, we will follow up with filing formal complaints with the BBB of Los Angeles (West Hollywood), the District Attorney's Office of Los Angeles, the Attorney General's Office of California, and with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I signed up with them with the understanding that should I no longer want or be able to afford the services the information would be deleted. As it happened, the ROI was not worth the price and I canceled my account asking that the information be deleted and the representative said no problem. 5 months later, a client is trying to find my office (I had to move locations) and thanks to city grid the old address immediately pops up on the google search. This caused a huge headache. Upon contacting them, they said "Thank you for contacting CityGrid. Upon further review of your issue; we are unable to "Deactivate" listings. If you would like to update or request your business listing to be labeled as "Closed"; we can process that request." If you ask them to close the listing that means they list your business as "closed," which would not be helpful at all. Please listen to my advice and stay away from Citygrid and their affiliates. Our business profile on CitySearch.com was hijacked. After not being able to reclaim the listing online, we contacted support to see what we can do to reclaim our business listing. The people in support said that ReachLocal had claimed ownership and that they would have to release the profile to us (the actual business owners) in order to have control again. The customer service rep was rude. I asked the rep to clarify "So you mean to tell me that you would prefer to keep your 3rd party partners happy than provide the actual business owners with control over their business profile?", the answer was yes. Honestly if own a business, don't go through CityGrid. Stick to reliable, trusty worthy websites such as Yelp, Urban Spoon, and even Google + Local. They are free, easy to set up, and have strong user adoption. Companies such as CityGrid may trick business owners into thinking that being on 50 local review sites will provide some SEO benefits - the short answer to that is it doesn't these days. Very deceptive sales practices. Do NOT use. Very hard to prove if anybody clicked or called based on their advertising since they do not use your correct business phone number. On their email they detail that it's only for a month. The sales person says it's on a "Trial One Month" basis but what he fails to tell you is that you have to cancel otherwise it charges automatically month to month and if you wait one day after the billing cycle, you're responsible for the entire month. read more

After many years of having a CitySearch account, I tried to cancel it when they changed names to CityGridMedia and my rep was no longer taking my phone calls and emails. I guess he was fired. So I call their Customer Service department in mid-December and he said he would cancel my account and there was nothing left for me to do. It turns out he did not cancel my account and the new folks answering the phone said the old song and dance: Who did you speak to? You cannot cancel your account over the phone and you owe us a bunch more money because your account is not cancelled. Lovely! I think they breached their verbal agreement with me because I know I canceled my account and I was never notified that it had to be done in writing. TOTAL RIPOFF. called and claimed to be able to update all our vast info on 100 of 'MicroSites" for mobile, Ipods, etc. I was skeptical and for the OUTRAGEOUS price of $1000 per month... I was even more skeptical. But the deceptive salesman Robert.V and I agreed to a ONE MONTH ONLY TRIAL and we would reassess after the month. If it was GREAT, then I would sign up for an additional contract. IT was USELESS, not even sure if they even did anything as we never saw any evidence of new calls, new clients, or anything. To boot WE did most of the work updated the data. CG would create skeleton accounts and then we had to make them functional. SO we immediately declined when he called back to sign us up the another contract. NO THANKS- END OF STORY. BUT NO, weeks later we began getting billing and collections letters demanding $1000 for the SECOND month (to which we never contracted). Their slimy phone support (if you can get them to answer) said "your told us 2 days after your contract month, so we "auto renewed you" for another months... so just pay us again... THEN we will stop it. NO Thanks CityCrap, There own terms of service and agreements are so nonsensical and contradict other paragraphs in that even my attorney was like..(paraphrasing). these guys cant even read and understand their own TOS/Agreement. No where is an AUTO-RENEWAL ever mentioned. Assuming your can find all the info buried under 3-4 levels of hyperlinks and in jargon no one can clearly understand. TOTAL SCAM has also been my experience with this company. I had signed up with them last March and have nothing but problems since. My account was never completed since I could not access it. Jordan, the person assigned to my account tried to assist me with the problems and then disappeared altogether. When I reached out to him again after several weeks of no response he actually told me that "the reason I did not hear from him was because I fell off the grid and he was not getting any notice that there was still a problem with this account. " In the meantime, my account was left active with no information on it. Of course they claim that I had enough hits to charge me the full charge of $400.00 each month. They even charged me the first month for 4 hits to my Web Page. I DID NOT even have a web page! HUM ??? My account was left active through all of this, each month claiming over 400 hits. They claim I owe them over $1,200. up to the point where they blocked my account for non-payment. All of this over a 3 month period and NOT ONE SINGLE CALL to my business. HUM ??? This company is nothing but a scam. They told me free 30 day trial then I would have the choice to sign up if I wanted to. Never got a call back and they proceeded to process my credit card with out my authorization. When I called to talk to someone I was threatened, cursed at and told that I was a lair. To make things worse they actually had the balls to send 2 people to my apartment to tell me I needed to pay them immediately or "something would happen", due to that not being an actual threat of violence the police refused to do anything but take a report. I have the whole thing on video with audio as well I will be posting it on YouTube as soon as I get it converted. Now I am in a huge battle with them and their BS collection agency CMI Also a scam. I actually woud give CityGrid a ZERO rating -- I contacted them because I happened to find a review of VMCLI that was posted on their site -- this particular review of VMCLI was a review 1000% written by me and posted on CityGrid (and on Yelp) approx. a 3-4 years ago, but, I found that my review on CityGrip no longer appears under my name/account but my review does appear posted by someone else under the account name "LikeS". I contacted CityGrid via email and the back and forth was a total waste of time. This particular review was word for word what I had written (which took me a week of writing, editing, re-editing). I was trying to understand how the review went from being posted under my account to being deleted and being reposted under someone else's account. CityGrid customer service was absolutely no help, and clearly not interested in attempting to track how this may have happened. Lesson learned -- I will not post any reviews on CityGrid again.
