Did a 90 minute sports massage with Rob (who I believe is this owner) and it was FABULOUS. Every once in awhile you meet people who you can tell are just obsessed with creating the best experience, and Rob is one of those people. The office is located in a nice, newer building. When I entered with the instructions provided I was greeted almost immediately and led to the room. The rooms are SO relaxing - mine had a lovely gas/electric? Fireplace which was very cute and soothing. The attention to detail is everywhere - from having chargers from your phone to the luxe, ergonomic massage table and very comfy sheets which he sources from a CA brand. The massage itself was also great. I've had a few sports massages around the world and this one left me utterly melting. Perfect pressure, firmness, and the cbd salve used was just lovely. I also love how cupping is included. I wasn't expecting that, but it was something I've been wanting to try for some time so felt like a great bonus. Before Covid, I bookmarked this place to go. So glad I picked this place. I booked online and was able to get an appointment in one day. I purchased a 90 minute massage due to the extreme pain I felt in my shoulders and neck. I received an email with instructions upon my arrival. This place is taking all precautions to ensure their staff and customers are safe. I was greeted by (Simone) my therapist. My temp was taken and sanitizer was provided. I met with Simone. We reviewed my registration form and my reason for appointment. She was very attentive. This massage was amazing. She found areas I didn't know I had pain in. I could not lift my neck and trunk due to stress. She worked on my upper body and helped release the tightness around my shoulders. I left the place standing taller and less hunched. INCREDIBLE PRENATAL MASSAGE!!!!! Had a FANTASTIC prenatal massage with Marta! She was amazing - thoughtful, careful, and listened to my requests and concerns. She was very knowledgeable, and had a foam wedge designed for pregnancy that you can put on the table to allow you to actually lie on your belly at an angle (if that makes sense), which was a dream! So nice to be able to lie on your belly(ish) after months of not being able to do so! Their model is a bit unusual (but completely awesome!) - there is no front desk staff, you walk into a nice, simple lobby and wait for your massage therapist. My favorite part may be that all payment (including tip and tax) is a single price. No having to worry about doing tip math after a nice, relaxing massage treatment. I would give this place six stars if possible! Definitely come here if you suffer back pain and have an HSA /FSA card! I have tried SO many things for my back pain over the years (acupuncture, chiropractor, osteopath, yoga, rolling, massage balls...). This place has made a significant difference for my pain. I suffer from lower back pain due to scar tissue from a car crash. Back pain is complex and requires a many faceted treatment plan - good medical massage is one of them. For me regular Pilates workouts are also important (don't expect massage to fix everything for you- you have to work!) The price is very reasonable: $140 per hour massage with 15 percent discount when you buy 3 = $125 per hour. $125 per hour of pretax HSA dollars = $100 regular dollars $100 including tax and tip = $75 per hour pretax/pretip. Chinatown Massage costs about $50-$60 for comparison... and for $75 CityTouch is WAY better (not even comparable). I recommend trying several masseuses here - they are all good and you will find the one whose style suits you best. read more

I can not emphasize enough how truly wonderful this place is! Everything about it was professional, clean, relaxing, and considerate. They take care of you from start to finish, and my massage therapist (Carla, who I ABSOLUTELY recommend) even emailed me with links to specific stretches that she personalized for me based on my tension and problem areas. The price also includes both tax and tip, and they took care of my card details beforehand which alleviated any additional stress or hassle that would've come after my relaxing massage. Seriously - this place genuinely wants to give you the best personalized experience possible, and they definitely deliver. They're located on an upper floor of the building towards the back of the hallway when you walk out from the elevator. The waiting room was relaxing, with spa-type music and some kind of amazing essential oil wafting through the room. Once you've filled out the form (which includes very specific questions about your body, health, what you prefer, etc.), I met my massage therapist (again, Carla - a truly caring and beautiful kind of person) who talked through my history, problem areas, and preferences. She then took me into my room, which was dimly lit and nicely decorated, including water, dried fruit, and even a place to charge my phone. There was a humidifier type of thing going, along with what I think was dried lavender along with other calming scents in the room. The massage table was very nice, and the sheets they used were really soft too. Everything seemed uber-professional and spa quality. My massage was fantastic - I had previously been waking up with severe neck and shoulder pain for weeks, and had unsuccessfully tried just about everything to get rid of it. Carla however seemed to know exactly what I needed, because the next morning my pain was gone and the tension was almost non-existent! Carla had worked some kind of magic, and I will forever be thankful to her for helping me so much. I met the owner, Rob, on the way out - and he was very nice, polite, and professional as well. This place is not worth the one hundred dollar plus massage. No matter what is advertised on each individual masseuse biography, deep tissue, sports, neuromusuclar etc... every masseuses gives the same head to toe super generic massage. Something you can get at a Chinese place for 45 dollars. For example if you went there for wrist and groin pain. You would think they would focus heavily on the wrist extensors eg extensor carpi ulnaris and the adductors. No matter what specific area you yell them you will always get the same full body skin surface low effort massage. They do not hold sustained pressure to any specific muscle, even if you instruct them. They're very robotic in their routine. In the pre appointment questionnaire it asks you if you want the table to be heated between ranges 1 to 5. I put above 3 every time and everytime I had a massage the table heat wasn't even on. Goes to show they don't even read the pre appointment questions. There is very little diversity on the city touch roster. There are no men except the owner. This place is geared towards Manhattan office workers and local west village people who just want some skin contact from another human. Pains me to give this place one star, as seeing Marta for prenatal massage was a real highlight of my pregnancy. However, I attempted to schedule one last massage before giving birth (at 39 weeks +5 I know you mamas can relate to back pain). When I mentioned how far along I was and that I'd let them know if I went into labor before then, Rob's response was that they are "super busy" and "turning away a lot of customers," and that if I thought I was going to go into labor, he'd "strongly suggest cancelling the appointment". Now, I'm not sure if Rob has children or has ever been close to person giving birth, but unless a person is scheduled for an induction, there is no way to tell when their body/baby will choose to go into labor. I did everything I could to book the appointment ASAP so that this didn't happen (when I went to book, the soonest appointment with Marta was two days away, although I'd have booked for that day if available). I totally understand and respect a 24 hour cancellation policy, and in literally every case OTHER than birth or death, I'd have zero argument. But c'mon Rob - if you're billing yourself as a place that offers prenatal massage, I would "strongly suggest" making an exception if a loyal client goes into labor. Word of mouth is either a real boon or a real b*tch in NYC - I've literally sent thousands of dollars of business to my naturopath just via my network of professional NYC women - but it sounds like Rob doesn't need the business anyway, so my suggestion is take your $$ elsewhere. The one star I gave goes wholeheartedly to how much of a massage-goddess Marta is. Hopefully she'll move practices and I'll be able to see her for my next pregnancy :) read more

Went here for the first time and booking was super easy online (also makes paying easy). When I got there I was greeted right away by my masseuse, Sofia. I had to fill out a shirt form and we were off. I got massages relatively regularly (once a month), so was excited to try this place near my office. The ambience was very nice and comfortable. The massage table was top notch, in a nice room. Even more importantly, the massage was fantastic. Sofia listened to what I wanted and did a great job delivering. I texted Rob to schedule an appointment for myself and a friend. He was quick to respond and set us up for massages later in the week. We arrived and was offered warm tea and filled out paperwork in the quiet waiting room. I had a prenatal massage with Carla and it was wonderful. Before starting she read through my chart and asked if there were any areas that I wanted to focus on. They had pillows for me to lay on my left side during most of the massage. It was very calming and wonderful. Carla made sure to ask me if the pressure she was using was okay. During the last part of the massage, she helped prop me onto my back with a wedge pillow underneath me. At the end of the massage, she set out dried fruit and water for me. When I left the room, she also gave me some suggestions on stretches that I can do to help with my shoulder pain. I also really liked that the prices already include tax and tip! After reading the reviews, I sent them a message here on Yelp and Rob almost instantly reached out and recommended Adrian for an appointment with me. They made everything SO smooth. I wasn't worried at all. I was actually having a very busy, tough day before I arrived for my appointment but was instantly at ease and they didn't mind my friend hanging out waiting for me while I was being worked on. :) As far as Adrian, he knew exactly what he was doing with my neck/shoulder/upper back issues. I had to withstand some pain (which we agreed to, he was very careful to ask what I was comfortable with) before relief and even today I am feeling much better. I won't lie, I am sore, but it is a GOOD kind of sore - and I am hoping I can swing going back very soon. If I could describe my level of discomfort before I visited this place, it would have been 10000. I actually have hope now! Plus, the beautiful aromatherapy had me feeling so good the moment we walked into the outer building. It's great for uplifting your spirits, which is something I undoubtedly need. I've had two massages here so far. I compare these to where else I've received them (Equinox and Spear Physical Therapy). I had 4 herniated disks for these massages. They are about the same price and 100% better than Equinox, from the ambiance to the more professional and seemingly experienced masseuses. After telling them the muscles I wanted work on, I did not need it remind them again which was great. Booking online is also so easy, and tip being included. I won't really compare it to a physical therapy massage, as the goals at SPEAR are less relaxation and more focused on your injury (as they should be). That being said, they did have similarities to the physical therapy massage when I indicated that was what I was looking for. Will definitely come back. Only suggestion is something else that covers your eyes better than the current, maybe just a hot folded towel. read more

Very disappointed! Buyer beware. For Christmas, I gave my wife a gift certificate for a massage from CityTouch. She's been looking forward to it for weeks. Her appointment was today, and unfortunately, she came down with a fever this afternoon. She called to ask for a rescheduling, and was told they can't do that. They wouldn't accept a doctor's note. A bit unusual for a place that's supposedly focused on your health. To be fair to CityTouch, they do say no refunds on their website, but it feels like a little bit of common sense would have gone a long way here. Instead of a happy new customer, my ill wife had a nice cry about her ruining her Christmas present by getting sick. Maybe the massages are great, I wouldn't know, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Edit with response to Rob G's comment: Like I mentioned in my review, my wife came down with a fever that afternoon, only hours before her appointment. It was never her intention to not abide by your cancellation policy. My wife was obviously terribly disappointed, and instead of coming into your practice sick, asked your assistant to make an exception to your policy. Your assistant told her it was impossible because she had to pay the massage therapist (in this case, you, the business owner), for your scheduled time. You are within your rights to redeem our gift card and not offer a rescheduling. A little bit of common sense and decency would have gone a long way here. read more

But what you really want to know about is the massage, right? Rob and I started by chatting about what I was hoping to achieve with the 90 minute massage. I was strung out from the planning leading to our recent wedding but, also, my lower back has been worsening for years since I performed a couple bad lifts. Rob homed in on the problem area, protected it well, and managed to relieve much of my discomfort! Days later, I'm still functioning far better. While I was already maintaining a daily stretching regimen, Rob's treatment clearly made an enormous difference. I don't have a lot of experience with massage places in New York, and I was looking for something clean, professional, and welcoming. I found all of that and more. Rob is truly a gem. I've been to him several times now, and he's always friendly and remembers my previous complaints/preferences. I'm a runner, so there's always something wrong with my legs or hips, and Rob is great about really getting in there and working out the kinks. I like a lot of pressure, but it never feels painful or uncomfortable. Rob is also very conscientious about keeping the temperature in the room/table at a comfortable level. The little charging station and jewelry tray in the room are also a nice touch. I've been to various high-end spas in NYC with luxurious amenities and unfortunately not-so-good massage therapists. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised with my first visit at CityTouch. You won't get the big spa amenities there, but what you'll definitely get is a masseur, Rob, with a personalized touch. He pays attention to details with a consultation before your massage, a place to store your jewelry & iphone (while it charges!), warm clean sheets, nice chill music (without bird and whale noises) complimentary crystallized ginger and slightly chilled water. The decor was especially warm with the mostly candlelit rooms and pleasant scents of eucalyptus and cloves. During the massage, Rob paid attention to areas that needed work or had previous injuries. I wanted medium pressure and I got just that, but he wasn't afraid to go deeper for areas that really needed it. He also realized I was congested and made a point to use massage oils scented with specific oils which will help me breath better through my nose. Surprisingly, it worked and by the end of my 60-minute massage session, I was comfortably breathing through my nasal passages. Afterwards, Rob consulted me about areas that were tense and types of stretching exercises I can do at home between massage sessions. I would recommend Rob to all my friends. He's a pro at what he does and think other masseurs/masseuses in NYC should perhaps learn a bit from his methodology. read more

I went to CityTouch after a stressful week passed by. I worked out on my legs and I was feeling sore on my lower back. All I needed was to get rid of my stress and the soreness. I found CityTouch online and made an appointment through its web site which was easy. Rob is a professional and experienced massage therapist. Seeing his diploma and license on the wall made me comfortable since I had some bad experiences with a few people who weren't licensed massage therapists. Rob asked me to fill a form out that wasn't complicated. There are some questions in the form to help him to understand what I needed and if I had any health problems to bring his attention. This made me feel more comfortable going into session. His place is quiet, he didn't talk unless it was necessary or I asked questions. The space smelled like a forest and the music made me relax. My session was 90 minutes for a full body of deep tissue massage with some reflexology. I felt my body relax, especially my lower back because he did some good stretches for my legs and hips. I felt stress and pain free afterwards! The refloxology part was just awesome. He knows how and where to touch. I'll go there again. My body was achy and vulnerable, but Frances put me at ease right at the start. Sometimes we do a general Swedish-style session, and sometimes I ask him to really get deep in there with more of a deep-tissue/sports style work. I always leave feeling blissed out, more mobile, and able to face the rest of life in New York City for another month or three.
