Unfortunately, my masseuse was visibly spacing out and he even only massaged my right leg with the finish at the end and not my left. Midway through, I couldn't wait to be done. I bought a Groupon a little over a month ago for a 60-minute couple's massage at Energy Bodywork. A week before the day that we wanted to go, I called them to make the appt. We arrived about a 1/2 hr. early for our appt. and I don't think that there were any customers there when we arrived. The staff rushed to get the room ready for our massages. We probably waited 5 mins. before we were shown to our room. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and it was very clean. The room was narrow for 2 beds (couples room) and didn't have much space to put our clothes/coats, etc. My massage was good. However, there was a language barrier when I asked the masseuse not to be so rough. A friend suggested that I try this place and I'm pleased to say that I did and I will definitely return. I called and made a reservation but they do accept walk-ins. The business is on the second floor. It's clean and quiet with low volume relaxing music playing throughout the space. I could not hear anyone else. There are approximately 10 rooms, each with a table. There are female and male therapists. I had Andy as a therapist and he was very good. After doing so much walking for two days in the city, I was in need of a massage. This was my first time doing just a foot massage. For an hour rub, $39 was def worth it. I called about 15 mins before arriving and they were able to take my husband and I. We waited probably 10-15 mins inside on the chairs. There was a quick warm/hot foot soak while we waited for the ladies to come. My lady was good, I'm a little sensitive so some points felt a little bit like a deep tissue. I called at 741pm and they were able to squeeze me in for a one hour massage at 8pm on a Wednesday night. I had Tony and he is now in my top list of masseuses. The whole massage he was making sure the pressure was ok, very communicative which i appreciate. Regarding payment: if you pay with credit card, they will allow you to tip on it. My massages last anywhere from 90-120 mins and his technique is consistently technical and effective throughout that period, leaving me relaxed with a good feeling of muscle tension release. I had been to this place a while back and I remember how great the massage was, a couple times actually, I guess they have new staff with new rules where you are forced to leave 20% tip. Now before you get ahead of yourselves , money is not the issue, it's def the principal! She said yes but it's extra charge I'm like ok... full body except for feet? Ok no problem, sure extra charge no problem, then when she charged me , she said because I'm using a card she has to charge tax and a fee for using a credit card, I said really? Umm ok ... she charges the amount then ask how much I want to leave Tip, I said $15 , she gave me a look and said no sir u have to leave 20% , everyone leaves 20%, I said " I HAVE to?" That's rude, charge the card and I will decide what to leave u, she said "no let me try in the card one sec." So at this point I'm like , what you mean "let me try" I said no, don't charge the card with the tip you want I'll put the tip, she literally said "shhh one sec" and pressed enter, I reached over the counter grabbed my card and left.
