The event featured live music and had plenty of vendors lining the streets, selling a variety of merchandise including totes, accessories, and pet supplies, and food tents offering mainly asian cuisine, japanese octopus balls, roasted chestnuts, even multiple bbq skewer vendors. I picked up some beef skewers from Taste Memory, and it was delish! The downtown area hosts a range of special events throughout the year, like the awesome Sunnyvale Farmers' Market held on Saturday mornings, one of my faves. But even the businesses serve visitors' needs daily, plenty of shops, eateries, and entertainment venues, some in the Cityline center including Whole Foods, Target, The Melt, Urban Plates, Tipsy Putt, and the AMC dine-in movie theater. One of the biggest things I appreciate is the availability of free parking, multiple parking lots and garages, adding a convenience that's not to be taken for granted.

Are they being forced out for a housing development project? Why build housing in an area that will have no basic services to support it?

We live within a half-mile of the shopping center, and it plays an integral part in our daily…read morelives. We visit the center multiple times a week. We bank here, get our clothes dry-cleaned, get our hair cut, buy our bagels and bubble tea, fill our prescriptions, get our documents notarized, and take care of our teeth here. The kids took karate here too. We used to go to the post office here before USPS shut it down, and we don't use the pet services but we do like to say hello to the kitties for adoption at the vet. The restaurants are fine but they don't appeal much to us as vegetarians. The Safeway grocery store is generally OK as Safeways go, but we hate going to all mass-market groceries and prefer Trader Joe's instead. Most of the places aren't bargain-priced, but we think prices are fair given the convenience. Parking is almost never a problem, though the center is usually mobbed by kids from Saint Francis High before and after school. I deducted one star for the center's lack of distinctiveness. If you don't live close by, there really is no reason for you to go out of your way to shop here--none of the retailers offer anything you can't find in your local neighborhood. Despite that, I think the landlord has done a great job of assembling a good mix of retailers that respond to the local community's needs. It's a terrific local resource, and we're glad it's so close.

There a variety diverse dining options, particularly Asian cuisine, and a lively community atmosphere. It's a really nice outdoor area that is landscaped beautifully and has sidewalks for walking around. Some of the Restaurants you can find there are: Lazy Dog, Eureka, Alexander's steakhouse and Patisserie, Pacific Catch, Meet Fresh, Oren's Hummus, Koi Pakace, HAIDILAO HOTPOT, Pineapple Thai, Myungrang Hot Dog, Pizza my Heart, Pacific Catch, Mian Sichuan Noodles and Hey Chicken. There are a few coffee, tea and dessert options as well. These are Somi Somi, 85 degree, Hey Tea, Phil's Coffee and Sul & Beans Korean Dessert Cafe. There is a new Miniso shop, an AT&T store and a Golden Vision store. The residence Inn by Marriott hotel is located there as well as the Loft apartments. There is plenty of parking. It can get very busy in that shopping center. There is a Main Street Cupertino Parking garage located behind the hotel on Vallco Parkway. Parking is free here and they do have charge point and Tesla charging stations available in that parking garage.

The parking is free, and there are quite a few restaurants to pick from. I've been to Lazy Dog (American food - good brunch), Oren's Hummus, Philz, 85 Bakery, and another random Chinese restaurant. My brother & his family come here more often since they live close by. So they recomended Haidilao Hot pot yesterday and that's how I ended up here. Overall it was an interesting experience. I could see Main St. being a nice restaurant row area for families living in Cupertino. If I happened to be the area I would return - but not really much incentive for me at the moment. We needed to take the elevator, so we ended up going through a labyrinth from the parking area to get to the elevator. When we tried to go back the same way, the door was locked. We had to walk in through the car access and up the ramp to get to our car.

They both were great but it was interesting or maybe funny that Starbucks didn't have a restroom and they were sending people to Lucky to go to restroom. Place on the wrong side of the railroad tracks…read more If you live in North Sunnyvale south of 101, this is the main shopping center for you. I bought my first house a 15 minute walk away from here in 1979 for $113,000, and lived here from 1979 to 1988, shopping here all the time. I still have that starter house nearby as a rental, with the similar house next door selling for $1.5 million in June! One rainy evening I was traveling west on Maude Ave, getting into the left turn lane to turn into this shopping center, to pickup pizza, when bang, I was T-boned on the driver side of my 1984 Honda Accord. No airbags in cars in the 1980s. Almost met my maker! Turned out the culprit was an engineer from a nearby firm, driving a rental car, fresh off the plane from Japan, where they drive on the left hand side of the road. His insurance company had the audacity to try to charge me with loss of use for the rental car! Not much has changed through the years. Shopping center is anchored by a Lucky's supermarket, and other stores include KFC, Prestige Wine & Liquors, a 7-11, a Valero gas station, a barber shop, a bagel shop, a Bank of America branch, with Wendy's and a 7 story LinkedIn building across the 8 lane Mathilda expressway, at the traffic lights. Only the pizza joint is gone. Today Saturday morning, I make a 2 mile drive from the Las Palmas Park area, passing Safeway, Sprouts, Trader Joes, and Target, four prominent supermarkets in the area, on my way to Lucky in this shopping center. Something good has to be on sale for me to drive past 4 supermarkets to Luckys. There used to be another Luckys on El Camino Real and Bernardo, but that fell victim to the scam scandal, where thieves in 2011 attached skimming devices to steal credit card numbers on the self check out card machines! I park my 2017 Honda Fit right in front of Luckys. The Fit replaces my 1998 Honda Civic, the most stolen car in America, not a car you want to leave overnight in this area, the sketchy area of Sunnyvale. Both cars are stick shifts, something the new generation of car thieves don't have the skills to drive. Go inside and get 2 lbs of the $9.94 Atlantic Salmon fillets on sale for $6.77 a pound, cheaper than Sprouts $8.99 a pound. Got to remember not to get the sockeye Salmon, which tastes more like a white fish. Other items include four bottles of $4.99 Simply Orange Juice, at $3 each, and two 10 ounce boxes of $1.99 Knott's Berry Farm's raspberry shortbread cookies at $1.39 each. The cookies are all broken up. The Simply Orange Juices are not as good a deal as they seem, ever since the bottle size was reduced from 59 ounces to 52 ounces earlier this year. Sneaky! Everything is hunky dory until I come to the self check out line, as it takes some doing to get the bill finalized. Prices here are on the high side, except for the sale specials. They are selling a ready to eat 30 ounce cooked rotisserie chicken for $10, when Safeway and Sprouts sells it for $8, and Costco $5 for a 48 ounce chicken. And Luckys certainly has lower rental costs than Safeway and Sprouts. Higher cost to cover losses from higher shoplifting rates and bounced checks, as crime rate substantially higher than south of the railroad tracks. But good for holdups, as freeway less than 2 minutes away!

A tale of two shopping centers…read more Technically I think there are two shopping centers here: Grant Park Plaza and Grant Road Marketplace. But it's easy to think of the two as one mega shopping center. Businesses on the Grant Park Plaza side include: * Nob Hill Foods * 99 Ranch Market * Peet's Coffee * Erik's DeliCafe * Sushi 85 * Shell gas station Businesses on the Grant Road Marketplace side include: * City Sports Club * Marshall's & HomeGoods * Sweet Tomatoes * Posh Bagel Need a haircut? There are a couple hair salons here. Lost your phone? AT&T and T-mobile stores have you covered. Want to shop till you drop, but ran out of money? A few banks have branches here. The nearby intersection of El Camino Real and 237, the latter which turns into Grant Road, is always a busy one. There's also another shopping center on the other side of Grant Road. So there's no shortage of traffic and parking headaches in the vicinity. But while I've always found parking here to be tight, I've always managed to find a spot. I prefer the 99 Ranch here to the one in Cupertino because the latter is a complete parking madhouse.

I had one of those unexpectedly wonderful customer service experiences and wanted to take a moment…read moreto recognize Irish at Target Optical in Sunnyvale. I had walked over to the Sunnyvale Public Library with my son and stopped for a moment to wipe my brow when out of nowhere, one of the nose pads on my glasses completely broke off. These were an older pair of glasses I had recently rediscovered while cleaning, so I figured the parts had simply become worn down over time. At first, I thought I'd just grab a repair kit from Target after ChatGPT recommended their Up & Up eyeglass repair kit instead of going all the way to Walgreens. Unfortunately, the only kit I found didn't include the nose pad I needed. As I kept walking through the store hoping they might be stocked elsewhere, I stumbled upon the Target Optical department, complete with an eye doctor and full service optical counter. That's where I met Irish. Irish was absolutely wonderful. She patiently and diligently worked on my glasses, replaced BOTH nose pads, cleaned them thoroughly, tightened and tuned everything up, and honestly made this old pair feel practically brand new again. You know how over time those little parts get dirty, brittle, degraded, and loose? She took the time to carefully restore them instead of rushing me through. What really stood out was her attitude and customer service. She was warm, professional, patient, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire interaction. Irish gave us her full attention and made us feel completely taken care of. Excellent service experiences deserve recognition, and Irish absolutely earned this review. Thank you again for the exemplary customer care!
