Yesterday, my father and I attended the Defensive Tactical Level 1 course. We attended the same course 4 years ago and decided that we were way overdue for a C.A.R refresh. In short, we LOVE Civilian Arms Training Source (C.AT.S.). The C.A.R. method of shooting is the most efficient, logical and ergonomic system of shooting we've experienced. With an open mind, and willingness to shift from conventional shooting stances (isosceles/weaver), beginners and seasoned shooters can greatly benefit from implementing the C.A.R. system. Tim George, the Director of C.A.T.S., is awesome. The instructors are passionate about students learning and mastering the new techniques. We felt extremely safe during the demonstrations, drills and live fire practice. We ran through almost 300 rounds during the afternoon live fire session. The morning period was dedicated to education, plastic gun, and dry fire drills. Everything from grip, to sight picture, stoppages, tactical reloads and much more were covered during the 8-hour course. Even though it was our second time through this course, we learned something new and refined our skills. I think we will take Level 1 once more before taking Level 2. Level 1 is fast-paced and at times, intense. Level 2 is at least twice as fast and live-fire starts in the morning, so it's not uncommon to blow through 600 rounds. C.A.T.S offers multi-level tactical pistol, multi-level tactical rifle, tactical shotgun, LEO only, night shoot, and CCW courses. Certificates are awarded via email at the conclusion of training. Thank you, Tim, Lisa, Richard, Jim and the others for another educational and enjoyable experience! We are looking forward to coming back sometime next year.

To be completely honest, I started this class with a significant amount of fear regarding firearms. However, the patient, safe, and professional manner in which we were taught immediately put my mind at ease. Tom does an incredible job of prioritizing safety above all else, ensuring that every step is understood before moving forward. His teaching partner Val added such a wonderful, welcoming touch to the class. Her presence and guidance made the experience feel even more approachable and inclusive. Because of their combined efforts, I walked away with so much more confidence than I ever thought possible. If you have been hesitant or nervous about taking that first step, I cannot recommend this course enough--you will be in great hands.

I wish I could go through more repetitions of some of parts of it, but even with four hours there was a lot of content to get through. Insight Shooting Range in Artesia was the complete opposite. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcomed, safe, and comfortable. Natalie especially was super helpful, educational, and easy to talk to. You can tell the staff here genuinely enjoy what they do and actually care about teaching people the right way instead of trying to intimidate anyone. The whole process is smooth and easy. Of course safety is taken seriously, which is exactly how it should be, but overall it's very easy to walk in, shoot, and get out without any stress. Their gun rentals are also very reasonable and affordable. Every time I come here it's always a breeze. Great environment, great people, and honestly one of the few ranges that makes you feel comfortable whether you're experienced or newer to shooting. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Prices are standard for a typical shooting range. However, I can't give this place a 5 star because other rangers have set the bar pretty high when it comes to appearance. They have classroom spaces upstairs, which is where my instructor provided a lot of useful, practical information on my firearm: I assembled my AR on my own and learned quite a bit during that process, but he further showed me how to disassemble it completely (I purchased a complete upper so didn't know how the BCG fully operated) and best practices for using and cleaning it. Then we went down to lane 18 for hands-on training. Shot about 100 rounds -- my instructor helped me zero in both my iron sights and a red dot with magnifier I installed on my AR. Everyone there seemed to be expert firearms owners, which is a good thing vs. people who are unsafe and not following safe usage guidelines (I've heard other ranges in L.A. County allow newbies on the range without instruction -- not a good idea for obvious safety reasons). I also like that they have a lounge area where people who are not shooting can still look through thick glass/plexiglass and be safe doing it. Also, they provide a sink and soap so you can wash your hands afterwards (hint: you don't want gunpowder or other after-effects of shooting on your hands should law enforcement pull you over for another reason). You can rent a lane by the hour ($25/hour). No reservations so first come, first served. Will definitely be going back here for more practice. Recommended!

My brother once brought home a…read morepaintball gun and handed it to me and I fainted (literally woke up on the ground) when I was in the 7th grade. My partner inherited a gun from grandpa several years ago and recently purchased a Glock for protection. I was involuntarily enrolled in a class by said partner. We met with Jesse from ShootSocal and just finished our class earlier this evening. I can confidently say I am much more comfortable with handling firearms after today. I'm still not going to run off and buy a gun of any sort. The class equipped me with the knowledge and understanding of responsible gun handling I never saw myself reach. After the education portion and handling of our unloaded Glock for 2 hours, we headed downstairs to put theory into practice. While obviously *very* loud, Jesse was really great at reassuring us at what we were doing, congratulating us at our success, and clearly putting a nice spin on our failures. Very important to add: our class was supposed to only be two hours. But after a slow-moving education period (we asked a lot of questions) Jesse still made it a point to help us at the actual gun range for almost a full extra hour. If you're new to firearms and want to learn, I cannot recommend this place any more.

I don't own or even want to own a gun (yet, maybe), but in this day and age, unfortunately, I feel it's necessary to learn how to use one and use one safely and confidently. So I've been wanting to take a firearms training course for a long time and this course was exactly what I was looking for. The first part of the course, we go over everything about the workings of a gun and how to properly handle one. We learn about gun etiquette and laws; it was a lot of material to go over, but Jesse, the owner, was really great at teaching and explaining everything step by step. By the time we actually got to handle a gun, I felt prepared. Not going to lie, I was still a nervous wreck, but with Jesse showing us and reminding us each step of the way, I felt very safe. To my surprise, my aim was actually not bad for a beginner! But I do have to give all the credit to the instructor. I cant say enough just how much I learned that day and I can keep raving about it, but if you're looking for a beginner firearms course, this one is definitely worth it! Thank you Jesse and his team for providing such an awesome learning experience.

Coming back to dance felt intimidating, but last year I found Uno's Dance on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I was nervous returning to dance, but I'm so glad I did. I was specifically looking for open-level adult classes and thought it would be fun to try a K-pop class. From the very first class, I realized this isn't just a typical dance studio--it truly feels like a community. Uno teaches full dance covers of entire songs, incorporates formations, and even films the dances in costume, which makes the experience feel complete and rewarding. There are also opportunities to perform throughout the year, which is a huge plus if you enjoy performing or want something to work toward. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and full of positive energy. I genuinely look forward to every class, and dancing consistently has also helped me with my fitness and confidence. Uno has been a big inspiration in helping me rediscover my love for dance, and I'm grateful for the friendships and experiences I've gained here.
