I have been to Mahoney's a few times. It's very close to my work and it's a pretty convenient halfway point for my friend and I so we have met here for drinks a couple of times. It's definitely good for cheap drinks. Very casual and it's pretty spacious inside. I've never tried anything to eat. The bartenders are always very nice and helpful. I'd have to say my biggest complaint is the clientele. It's about a 4 to 1 male to female ratio. This might sound appealing to some girls. But attractive women proceed with caution. There are a lot of creeps here. At least that has always been my experience. If you're a cute girl I would suggest not going to Mahoney's unaccompanied by a body guard or boyfriend. You will be hit on. Sometimes it's just a few free drinks from an anonymous stranger but other times it's relentless guys whose tactics border on harassment. They don't quite know how to approach you or how to respect your wishes when you decline to give them your number. My friend and I were the recipients of an actual "Call Me Maybe" napkin (see photo) pickup attempt. I guess I shouldn't really complain about any of this because at the very least it's free entertainment. It can be a little uncomfortable and annoying sometimes though. But I guess you can't really blame that on Mahoney's. Over all it's a nice little place to grab a drink. Just remember girls, be wary. ;) read more

PIZZA. CJs has always been a fun place to head for lunch... It was literally one minute from my old office. It had been a while since I was there, but FINALLY returned last night for some drinks. Well done! Jacquelin was our server and I was impressed. Just from some people watching and innocent eavesdropping, it seemed the whole staff was well experienced. CJ's is alright. For me, it's close by. The food isn't terrible; I give it 2 stars. I love the multiplicity of HD flat screens. It's a good place to watch a game. I like it, because like any self-respecting sports bar, they've got a variety of games going on thanks to the satellite TV receivers. That way I'm not stuck wasting an afternoon watching locally televised NFL games if I'm not interested in them. They have been nice enough to indulge my Formula 1 fetish. They've got an okay assortment of beers, and I appreciate that I can get a nice 20oz. draft. I'd be happier if the place were non-smoking. That factor definitely limits the amount of time I'm willing to spend there. read more

Loooooong wait. Long wait. Good to watch a game, food was okay, but the wait was stupid.

Visited for lunch this week. Not impressed with the food or service. Ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which the server recommended, but it was very tasteless and bland. Ordered as a honey BBQ grilled chicken sandwich, but the server brought a plain, overdone chicken breast with a side of honey mustard (!!). When I brought this to her attention, she brought me out a small bowl of honey BBQ sauce to pour over my plain grilled chicken breast. All sandwiches only include chips. For the price $9-11, they could easily include fries with their sandwiches. They need to upgrade the quality of their food, as well as possibly lower their prices, if they expect to stay in business much longer. Troy is one of the most competitive restaurant areas in the state. If you don't offer quality food and good value, you're done. read more

Gotta love a spot where they remember your name when you return the next time.. Great neighborhood spot for any occasion, carryout, lunch, dinner, or drinks with friend's. Benny and the rest of the staff do a hell of a job making sure everybody feels welcome and happy!! And... We had reserved tables for 30-50 people, and called 3 days ahead of time. They had 1 waitress for our whole entire party. That same waitress was also serving tables on the other side of the restaurant. (Not her fault the restaurant short staffed) drinks were never brought, but rung in, food (when was even able to be ordered) was sitting in the window for 10-15 mins before brought out. Most just ended up going to the bar because the waitress was so over worked with tables. Please be more aware of your staffing needs. read more

I usually go to the Cj Mahoney's in Rochester but once in awhile I'll come to this location. I was here about a month ago and had terrible service. I believe they were a little short staffed for a weekend night, but we should not get to be treated the way we did. We had a table for 6, we ordered drinks and food. When our waitress came back to see if we wanted more drinks, a few people at my table were not ready for a second round but asked for waters and our waitress told us "No we're out of water." We laughed in response because we thought she was joking. She said, "No I'm serious, I'm too busy to get you waters. But do you want another round of beers or drinks because I won't be back for awhile." What, are you serious?? What waitress says "I'm too busy to get you water?" That was rude and uncalled for! A few people in my party left and a few new people showed up. We ended up staying for several hours but we had to go to the bar for drinks because our waitress wouldn't check on us. I'm leaving 3 stars because the food is usually good and I usually have pleasant experiences here. read more

It's a big place and the bar to sit at is very large and has lots of seating. It's a nice place to just come and grab some good food and a drink or too. I've noticed there's alot of older people that go there so it might not be for the younger crowd. Music is okay. They switch back and forth from older music to newer. I decided to try out this establishment since I was staying across the street at the hotel on business!..... I walked in and came up to the bar and was greeted by a very energetic lady (Nicole). She asked me what I would like to drink and if I would like a menu! Before I even got a chance to scan through the menu my drink was already on the bar in front of me! If you think this is anything like the old spectadium you are nuts. Totally redone top down and laid out great. Anything you can imagine to drink, great food, great prices, and hot little helpers. They get every game and more importantly not like some douchebag so called sports bars actually shut the juke box off and turn the big game on the overhead. Whatever you want to watch they will do whatever they can to make it work. Also you can always sit in a booth with your own private tv if that's your thing. The bartenders are 9 out 10 (looks, personality, service). Food is really good also. I like this bar. If you want to watch a game the 500 tv will have it on one of them. (i really do not know how many they have). Great bar it is big, perfect place for a party. Visited two months ago, this is probably one of the worst ran restaurants/bars I've visited. I don't know if it is management or the owners, but the servers don't seem to have sections. My server was running from one end of the building to the other. I would understand if they at least had a busser or food runner but she was doing that too. She was very nice and she was doing the best she could but she couldn't keep up it was very busy in there. The manager was sitting there on her phone not helping at all. It is too big of a building to have a server on both ends. Food is just okay, I wouldn't recommend it unless it's late and you have no where else to go. read more

did work in Troy MI for a few months and came to love this place. hummus and chicken was my favorite. loved it, i would even come here on my lunch breaks. drinks are awesome bartenders are amazing. very attentive super nice and very knowledgeable. wish this type of environment and food quality was near all of my jobs. im sad to be leaving and leaving this place behind. hopefully i get to return and come back to this superb establishment read more

Service is slow the girls don't really care about making it a good experience as much as talking with their girlfriends and hanging out especially when you're sitting at the bar, I was just there a couple weeks ago and the bartender who I think was named Heather was completely oblivious to the fact that there is a business running while shes trying to have a social life. And when she did finally take a moment to greet me it was a complete lights on, no one home as far as conversation. I can't speak for the rest of the staff as I didn't interact with them personally, they looked like they were for the most part okay, maybe this one was just a bad apple. I'm only giving this one star because zero isn't an option. I honestly don't even know why anyone would ever come here! Saturday night we walked in about 6pm, place was mostly empty. Now we know why. First time and last time we will be dining here. Nachos are an absolute joke, stale chips with hardly anything on top, cold cheese and the meat is nasty. Forgot our child's food...blamed it on the kitchen. So all the adults are eating while the kid is hungry...wouldn't have been that bad but the way it was handle was horrible. I have been eating lunch here for the past three years since my company moved into the area, but recently the food has really gone down hill. Their Mac N Cheese use to be great but now it's just bland. Be careful at this place, I stayed at a hotel close by there for work. the first couple of times the bill seemed high but had a few drinks and dinner thought I may have lost track. well my last visit was reel bad the bartenders had tabbed me out twice for different shift changes. I had 5 drinks paid for 3 and they charged my coworker for another 2, well that was right until they came with a fourth bill and charged for another 3 of my drinks plus 2 more for his. don't get me wrong I can tip a few back but I was only there for a couple hours the manager looked at it and came back with another bill telling me I had by her guess 9-10 drinks total and that the bartenders had it all wrong and wanted even moor money. I am not cheep by any means and leave 20% tips but I am not a fool or a drunk I do know how to count. This place is a scam and they are all crooks there. read more
