It wasnt easy, as they were having to fix bad work done by other fortunua mechanic and a bit of front end damage to my blazer after a spin out that hit the hillside at 55 mph (damn hwy 36). One mechanic (JC Auto) took 2 1/2 months and $3000 to do an "improper installation of a new intake mainfold" per the dodge dealer. And another expensive fortuna mechanic (Rocha's) didnt know how to fix the a/c system on my ford ranger but billed $1800 to try (they forgot to put refrigerant in). Calvin fixed it in half a day for under $500. In my 8 years of experience with local shops, out of 7 of them only 2 really shine - Busted Knuckle and Mike's Brake Service. The others are over priced and will kill you with diagnostic fees.

what can i say but thank you, thank you. thank you Mike…read more drove from Weaverville to the coast and the brakes started to scrap and squeal . i was towing a camper trailer headed to the redwoods and then home to San Francisco. went to a big brand name shop to have them checked out . they toke my number said they would call me with a time they could look at it....they never called be back . thanks Les.... found mikes . he was able to take my truck right away. the rear brakes were toast . i grounded them down to metal to metal ,ruining to rotors. he was able to replace the rear brakes and rotors and Calibers . then showed me that the left front wheel bearing was failing . the tire was wiggling all over . i had him replace the the wheel Bearing and hub assembly. he did all this in less than two hours :) the price was good and the service was exceptional. if i lived in Fortuna Mike would be my mechanic for all my vehicles . thanks again

A diagnostic for a noise that didnt exist before and was obviously related to their work? the next day the car died, blowing smoke out the exhaust like an air show fighter plane. Dodge dealer said it was severe scoring in the #3 cylinder from a metal part likley dropped into the open cylinder while replacing the intake manifold. Anyway - dead car. so dont go to these hacks unless you want poor results.

Upon arriving at Pro Pacific Auto Repair in Eureka, CA, we were greeted by a very nice service advisor who was very understanding to our situation, with it being 4:30pm and with the issue we were facing. Another gentlemen said he would put a code reader on the car and let us know what the problem with the vehicle was. He immediately advised us of the problem, which was an issue with the fuel system.
