Cheryl and her crew at CJ's Shave Ice did their fresh popcorn (with all the fixings) and cotton candy for my husband's birthday party we held at our home. First off, Cheryl is amazing and so easy to work with; she cares and is so understanding. Having her over for this party has literally been 6 years in the making (she was originally set to be there for my daughter's 1st birthday party-- but COVID). Fast forward to last year, and once again we had to reschedule (due to getting COVID). Still, she let us reschedule and we were SO incredibly happy to finally have them today. They were friendly, professional, sweet to the kids at the party and they completely set up and took down their set up without needing anything from me. Now, the cotton candy was no JOKE! They offered a variety of flavors and the favorite of the party seemed to be green river. The kids (and adults) were stoked with it. Side note, I was half expecting the little pieces of cotton candy to fly similar to the at home cotton candy machine I have at home but everything was pretty contained! Also, don't get me started on the popcorn!!! They offered different sizes (small and large) and had different toppings and seasonings! People could customize their popcorn with seasoning like garlic, elote, Parmesan, cheddar cheese, and MORE! Cheryl and her sweet team are definitely the best in the business and I will definitely book them again in the future (now--to find a reason to have them over again sometime soon hehe). read more

I came here for the first time because I needed to send cotton candy floss to my friend in the Big Island. When I got there, there was only street parking and it was all taken so I wasn't sure where to park. But the owner mentioned that for next time I can park right in the front of their shop, blocking their gate. Good to know for next time. The owner was so nice and even gave a small container to show my friend of what she should order for the next time. She gave good tips on how to best use the floss and recommended some flavors for the next time. I never knew about them before this, so it's good to know for future parties. I took a group in with me, and they had a blast talking stories with "aunty." The service from both husband and wife, AND the waffle dogs were nothing short of amazing! They were both very welcoming, and gave great suggestions for our party. We got shave ice, and it definitely put a smile on everyone's face. I found CJs on yelp when I was looking for someone to provide shave ice, cotton candy, and popcorn services. She was able to squeeze us into her schedule and we were so excited to have them at my daughter's first birthday party. Unfortunately, our venue cancelled on us due to hurricane lame. I was pretty upset considering all the time and money we spent just prepping for the party. I immediately called CJ to see what could be done and she was very understanding, told me we could reschedule - no problem. She even called me a few days later to see if I had a date in mind because she wanted to be sure we locked in a date as she was going to be off-Island. I was pleasantly surprised by her call. Sadly, we couldn't get the new venue, caterer, and vendors reserved for the same day and time...it was a frustrating mess. If I was given a 0 stars rating, I would've selected no stars to represent the worst customer service I've EVER EXPERIECED. I just called today 8/7/19 Wed. at around 255 pm. (on my break) the contact number on the website 808-497-0034. I asked if services included delivery of the shave ice machines or would it need to be picked up. The response I received from the receiver and sounded like a female was: "We haven't delivered our machines for over 20 years and you need to pick up the machines the day before the event!". I was surprised by the tone and the response. I apologized for not knowing the answer and is reason why I was calling. I also asked her if she was the owner or an employee? She said she is not the owner. I "humbly" suggested perhaps she can enroll in some kind of customer service training. She responded, "Maybe you should shut your damn mouth, bitch!" and she hung up. Every six months, University of Hawaii has a large event of at least 200 people. I have coordinated these events for the past two years. The last event, I contacted CJ's shave ice and the person who answered was rude and didn't seem like they wanted to help me. This time, I tried again because we really wanted a caramel apple station. It was worse than before. She answered my questions with attitude like "umm... yeah no" and I kept having to repeat myself because she wasn't listening to what I was asking for. She told me they were leaving on a 2 week trip starting the day after our event so we had to figure out how to get the machines back to her. She said "well I need to get my machine back" again with attitude and then "I guess someone would just have to stay back to wait for you." I have decided to purchase the materials for our candy apple station from Walmart and make it ourselves. Walmart has the same prices by the way. I just wish that if they didn't want my business, they would have started off the call saying that. Instead I just wasted my time trying to give her my business. Ongoing business at that! read more

If I ever need (and I probably will, or maybe I'll just make an excuse) to rent from Cj's, I will. We rented a shave ice machine for my son's 1st birthday party at a pool party and it was a huge hit! Cj was so helpful and sweet! Plus, easy to work with. It was like talking to someone I knew forever. We got the machine, spoon straws, 3 flavors of syrups (although a gallon each for 125 people ended up being twice as much as we needed) and the pumps for the syrups for under $80.
