[CF "VET" maybe not quite a vet...]...STILL LOVE IT HERE! I hope that my enthusiasm is coming across. I have talked to many people about their box and it's scary out there! All of our coaches, George, Dave, Henry, Gina, Rich... all of them are really amazing! They push you to do your best but always have your best in mind. If you have an injury there are modifications and you will push your limits, but safely. The coaches are very focused on form and ensuring that you are not sacrificing form for weight. If you want to try something new they will take time out to help and coach you through it so you can practice. They also celebrate success with you...I stopped and screamed mid-wod when I got my first double under and every clapped....it was magical. The people here....I mean it's the community that makes the box in my opinion and the community here is better than I ever expected. Everyone is supportive and will help you along the way and answer any questions. We always have fun, work hard - play hard. If you are the last one (as I usually am especially with burpees) everyone comes over and cheers you on and will even start doing additional burpees with you to help you finish (shout out to @EricS)...if you have every done a burpee you know what it means to do additional burpees just to help your fellow CF'er through. Working with Ana to schedule me and my 3 other friends into the On Ramp course was a great experience...attending the On Ramp course was a great learning experience...and coming to do the WOD's has been an AWESOME experience. The On Ramp course was about 2 hours and we learned about all of the movements, some of the terminology, and learned and practiced the form for the movements. We had plenty of time to ask questions and didn't get rushed in any way. Coming to the first class is always filled with anxiety...I didn't know any of the moves, I didn't want to hold anyone back (obviously I didn't know anything about crossfit before I started) and was pretty "soft" after the holidays - oh you know what I mean. The first class was amazing! The coaches in the evening sessions - George and Clay - are freaking awesome! They knew we were new and paid special attention to our form and helping up through any moves and working the level 1 modifications so we didn't kill ourselves. They make everything look so easy (they are professionals) and it's great to have such great roll models to aspire to. The following days have been just as awesome...the workouts change up every day and anything that you need modified they help you through it. I am so impressed with their knowledge and patience with all of the new people (uhhmmm...me!) and I will absolutely be here as much as humanly possible! Whoop Whoop!

I am both an athlete and a coach at 2 St. I love being a part of both sides of the box. Most…read moremornings I am there getting my workout in with the super welcoming, crazy awake for 6am morning crew. It is a fun crew, who work hard and celebrate pr's all before breakfast. It is also often a well oiled machine as most of us need to get in and get out so we can be on time for work. At night I am there coaching. As a newer box we have a lot of new faces coming in all of the time and I love that they seem to stick around. We must be doing something right! I love teaching a new to CrossFit athlete proper form, you can just see it on their face when it clicks. Usually the first thing that say is "wow, that felt so much easier". Then from there it is the pr's as they finally get into the colored weight plates, enter into the 100lb club, lifting their own body weight, etc. Every pr is time for a celebration in my book! We have a lot of fun at 2 Street and we get a lot of hard work done at the same time. I think it is that balance that keeps the athletes coming back and looking forward to what we have planned for them each class, even the burpees!

A lot to unpack at this new-to-me class. I've taken a pretty wide variety of chain fitness classes: was an OrangeTheory girly for a while, have taken Barry's, PureBarre, pilates, you name it. I like the opportunity to try new things as it keeps me curious about my body and fitness, so stopping by solidcore with zero knowledge or expectations seemed like the move. This is a reformer-based class that moves FAST - be prepared to live in the struggle and accept it. The instructor did an awesome job explaining the machine to me before class, but the pace is relentless. Which I think is why many folks find this so addicting! I was sore for 3 days after this class and cannot imagine a faster (or more painful, frankly) path to some serious strength gains, given that this workout is resistance based and choose-your-own-adventure intensity. The kicker is cost. When looking at membership details (I attended on a classpass trial) I was pretty shocked to find that 5 classes would set you back ~$170. Not something that's in my budget, but I absolutely recommend trying class and seeing if it's for you. Thanks to the team here for the great experience!

The classes are more boot camp style than crossfit. Pamela, the owner, develops a daily workout that each of the Urban Athlete classes does the same that day. Each class includes a 10 minute warm up, 5 minutes of instruction, followed by 30-35 minutes of work. We use a lot of hand weights, kettle bells, and occasionally barbells. There are also plenty of body weight exercise like burpees, pushups, pull ups, and planks. The instructors are my favorite part. They show us how to do each exercise, cheer us on, and give pointers to help your form. Class sizes typically range from 5-12 people. The workouts are for most fitness levels and ages, but not all, as they are hard and meant to push you. The members feed off each other for motivation. If you have serious physical limitations, personal training sessions might be a better way to start.
