This is the only workout I've ever stuck out through. I've seriously tried it all. Zumba, yoga, Pilates, barre, even a general membership at LA Fitness. Nothing ever did it for me. I would go to the gym, complete my workout, and then dread the next time I'd have to do it again. I tried ClassPass at some point and that at least helped in the variety, but I never really felt home at the gym. I'm a total bookworm, never been a gym rat, but CKO Kickboxing may be showing me that you can be both and there's no shame in that. Originally I went to the CKO back south in Brickell. I was introduced to that gym thanks to Diandra L., the former Yelp community manager for Miami. She had somehow gotten CKO Brickell to give a group of us Yelpers a free class and I remember getting out of there sweating like a pig and somehow intrigued by the workout. I eventually reached out to CKO Brickell and did some classes, even getting a membership. Then I got injured, my office moved, and the location just was no longer convenient for me. To top it off, the pandemic made me lazy and it felt as if I would never work out again. Cue the pandemic making me rethink my life and moving up to Broward County, where I remembered there were more branches of CKO, and CKO Pembroke Pines just happens to be the closest one to me. It was late August. Or maybe early September? It was a Sunday. On a whim, I showed up at CKO Pembroke Pines. I remembered how much I loved CKO Brickell and I just had had it with being a couch potato. I showed up around 11 AM and got to meet Aiyana and Kani. I got some info from them and called later on in the week to set up the details for a free week of kickboxing classes. The day I finally went to my first class, it was at 6 AM. I really don't know what possessed me. I typically worked out evenings, but I opted for a change. Olga, who I later learned was the owner and she really is the sweetest thing, personally set me up with gloves and wraps. Kendrick was teaching that morning, a Wednesday. I remember getting out of there being shell shocked at how bent out of shape I literally was. I somehow made it my mission to get active. Specifically to be energized. There were days I wanted to give up, but I kept on pushing. Heck, there are days I still do feel that way. People seem to think I'm more athletic than I actually am. I'm not. I'm just determined to live a healthy lifestyle. Believe me when I tell you that I was that kid who detested running the mile, and more so, to this day I can only do a girly push-up. Despite these shortcomings, I've never once felt judged for them at this gym. Each and every person I've met has been downright lovely. It's a family, tried and true. When I've been out for some time, I get asked out why, and funnier still, I've gotten to the point of telling them beforehand. It's so nice to be part of a community that remembers your birthday, spontaneously congratulates you on your 100th class, and actually is happy for you when you vacation. Honestly I'm thrilled to be part of CKO Pembroke Pines. It's no longer a pain to work out. I look forward to it now even. I recommend you heavily trying them out. What started out as a hope has become a dream. I am a little Energizer Bunny now. That and while I may never be an Olympian, I feel faster and stronger. That in itself has made all the difference. read more

The trainers and front desk staff at CKO Pines are amazing! Unfortunately the ownership has grossly mismanaged the club to the point where they owe their employees nearly $10,000 of back pay. Adding insult to injury Johnathan Espinosa, the owner, insists he did nothing wrong and that the employees he owes money to should continue to work FOR FREE. read more

This place is terrible. this place has terrible service. First of all the website says that they are open from 8 AM to 8 PM. This is not true. They are actually open 6 AM to 11 AM and then 5 PM to 9 PM. I found this out the hard way. Next issue is that I called twice and asked if I can show up at any time to do a class. All I got was the answer yes. There's no specification to specific timing of a class. The lady at the reception is a high school student who really doesn't care at all about clear instructions to working adults. I am extremely disappointed. I have lost $90 because I know that they will not refund this money back to me for all the time lost in driving to this place. ** update, nobody from their management has emailed me or contacted me. read more

Coach Kendrick is a good trainer he always pushes me to my limits when working out or boxing and helps me become a better boxer.

I started at CKO when my other boxing gym went out of business due to covid. Even coming in with lots of experience, I always have a great class. The variety of instructors and different teaching techniques make it interesting each time. I'm dripping in sweat after every class. CKO has a great family atmosphere and I can't wait till they start kid's kickboxing for my little ones. read more

CKO is EXACTLY what we needed in the area. I once took a class at CKO Brickell and was hooked, but let's be honest. I'm more of Broward county transplant than I am a Miami resident... So I was a little bummed I wasn't able to join CKO Brickell. In search of another kickboxing gym in the SW Broward area, I found some but they weren't the same as CKO. I'm glad this location opened up relatively close to home and work. The facility is housed inside of the Home Depot/Publix/Muvico plaza so there is ample parking available. They currently have morning classes and evening classes, which might change as membership begins to get larger. Their trainers are amazing, and very knowledgeable when it comes to the art of kickboxing and burning those calories. My favorites are Dean and JP, each of their teaching styles is verrry different but I enjoy both of their classes equally. Stop by, as your first class is always free and guarantee you, you will become a fan! It's not as intimidating as it seems! read more

Starting from the sweet informative Zoe at the front desk who took her time to show me the gym, the different punches and kicks so I wouldn't be totally lost during it first class. The trainer Carl kicked my ass, but I loved it. He took time to show me good technique, encouraged me and showed me an alternative way of doing certain moves I wasn't able to do. Meant to write this months ago, but man did I enjoy Kendrick's classes! One of the most fun workouts I've had in a while due to high energy and the music choice, but it was very instructional as I learned some of my technique in the boxing area was lacking. CKO is the pembroke pines hot spot. I'm so glad my daughter made me and my husband try a class. It really made us feel good and we were so happy we signed up after the trial class. If anyone knows anything about me is that I'm pretty lazy, if I get the chance to relax or chill and not do anything I'm always down. However, I have discovered a new love for working out and the only place where I find that is here. The instructors are amazing and always motivate you while still helping you to not over do more than you can. The staff is just great. Point blank period. The workouts are fun too, I don't even feel like I'm working out most of the time. I feel like I'm taking some kind of self defense class with awesome music to dance to. And I forgot to mention! For those of you who may or may not be saying that you can't do it because you're injured or have complications somewhere, the instructors can always modify the workouts to fit your needs. So, I 100,000% recommend it to anyone and everyone, definitely worth it. read more

Where to start as a former amateur boxer who stopped for a bit and getting back to it this is intense. After a few classes I'm already in way better shape and can see the pounds coming right off. It's a great atmosphere and each trainer has a different skillset and intensity. I personally like dean classes hes hardcore. Most gyms are very expensive and they are reasonably priced under 100 a month. You can go to unlimited classes and it's no joke. Really the only difference from amateur boxing to this is the sparring and focus on technique. However since I already know how to fight this is perfect. Looking to crush my goals and I would reccomend this place to anyone on any skill level. read more

I tried a class, skeptical that with my "messed up" knee I could make it work for me - then I was hooked!!!! I am able to modify the workout to work for me and STILL get an INCREDIBLE cardio workout! Not to mention how FUN it is! The trainers are super motivating and I look forward to going every time! this place has a close knit feel. albeit the instructors have changed since the opening (hopefully better ones will come in), the concept has remained the same. the owners are super cool, they are upfront about pricing. they are detail orientated when it comes to their members. the age range and vibe in the classes are that of the working person, so there is a sense of a 'no judgement zone' which works! it pushes you to try your personal best! read more
