I found Sylvia's salon thru Yelp. The great reviews are what brought me to her. At my appointment, I showed her a video of exactly what I wanted. We got started right away and she made me feel so at ease. And that's the best thing about her! Our time together was very pleasant and entertaining! And that's why I felt comfortable enough to tell her when I wanted adjustments to my hair cut. Usually, I feel too shy to say anything at all. For my cut, I went from very long hair to a "bob." She finished it off just how I wanted it and even styled it like the video I showed her. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! UPDATE 5/10 I went back to Sylvia to get a trim (since my hair grew in quite a bit) and also some color. Before she started, I asked if she was a color expert... and of course she said yes. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, which was pretty much an ashy grayish balayage on my short hair. After 3 hrs of the process, most of which was spent under a fan (which would constantly shut off and she'd have to turn it back on-pretty annoying) my hair came out to have choppy orange and blonde colors. She said it was orange because I used to have red in my hair... which i understood for the most part... But after 3 hrs and $140+ later, I'd expect better. I've paid less for better and more tedious work when my hair was long and down to my butt. read more

Location: Claborn is off the 57 when you exit diamond bar blvd. It is in this partially obscure area, across the street from a shell gas station and and in the same complex as a chiropractor/ donut shop/ dog groomers. Experience: I've put my hair cut off for way too long, so I decided to walk in and see if they could take me. They said it was alright, since walk ins are welcome. Michelle asked me what I wanted, and guided me toward a haircut that best fit my needs. I wanted to cut my bangs, but I didn't want them too short. Michelle could tell I was hesitant, so she offered to cut them long and told me if I was unhappy, I can come back another time and she'd adjust them for free (I ended up loving the first cut though). After that, she washed my hair, and sat me in the chair. She worked quick but I could tell she genuinely cared about cutting my hair. Since this, I've taken my sister and she was equally as amazing on her too! I have straight hair but my sister has tight curls, and both our haircuts came out amazing. Michelle is amazing, and sweet! I can't wait to go back! The Owner (claborn) is just as helpful and easy to talk to. environment: (when you see the studio, its hard to see from the street. but once you walk up to it, it's very roomy inside. It is also very pretty and comforting. They have big mirrors which add to the relaxing atmosphere. Michelle works on hair, but there are other specialists that concentrate on facials, massages, nails, etc., ) Price:Michelle gave me a discount (because it was my first time), but the average haircut is ~30, which includes the wash, cut, and blow dry, so it's a good deal. Other: they close at 8, and accept credit cards. They also told me they get pretty busy around lunch time. I went around 6, and there were only 2 other people there, so it was a good time and I felt welcome as a walk in, I didn't even wait. Don't let the obscureness of Claborn keep you from stopping by!
