A TWENTY DOLLAR female hair cut. ^ is that enough to catch your attention? My hair hasn't been touched for almost a year and I've been meaning to chop off all my bronzed and dead part of my hair. I yelped around hair salon in the area and I found this hidden gem in Rowland Heights! It's located in a "Dolphin Bay plaza" (even it's gone now..boohoo) and attached right next to the bakery shop in the corner. First impression may not wow you but I really liked the service and the price. Tina is Korean born Chinese living in the US who speaks Korean, Chinese, and English so you can communicate with her at your own convenience :) I showed her a picture of what I wanted- a short bob- and here is a picture of the result and I like it a lot. I know it's probably a simple cut compared to other requests, but all it matters is that I'm satisfied with it! As mentioned in the beginning, yes, it's a $20 hair cut. I washed my hair prior to the cut and she didn't charge an extra $5 for the wash. I will see Tina again soon :) read more

This place really out does itself - not the fancy salons one usually goes to for a special treat. But what I can tell you is that the Korean lady I think her name is Jackie she's awesome. The lady won't talk much to you so don't expect a long conversation but she will pay real good attention to every detail when it comes to cutting hair whether it's a treatment, haircut, hair dye, perm whatever it is she is professional at what she does. She also gives her advice first of what can be done to your hair, but also listens back at what you also want. I washed my own hair before going, and basically went to get my old curls and frizz out from my hair straightened. Had a bit of a hair cut just to get rid of split ends but total cost me $45 for everything and that includes a treatment too and tip. I was so impressed, not only was that a bargain but my hair has been straight for the whole week now and I wash my hair everyday. I spent 3hrs there because I really had some curls and frizz that I needed to get rid of - last minute appointment over the phone and she accommodated me at the same time. All I can say is not only does she find you ways to save money but she's also probably the owner and soooo sweet. I always have the best experience when I do my hair here. Women's haircuts are now $30! But still very affordable! I was able to get a same day appointment today with Jackie. I asked for 2in trim and to add layers. She may have taken off more than 2 in while adding layers but I'm okay with it. She also thinned out my hair and it feels so much lighter! This place is a hidden treasure! It is located in the Dolphin Bay parking lot. I'm so certain that if this salon was at a better location, their business would be booming! I always get my hair cut and styled by Tina. She is so friendly and sweet! She definitely knows what she's doing. I don't trust anyone else with my hair except her. I've brought my friends, family, and boyf here; non of them were disappointed with the end result. Their haircuts are fairly priced too. first time visiting this salon, refer by my friend and asked for Lily. She is very nice and skillful. I told her, i just need something short for summer, and keep some hair on the top. She did a really fine job and result is really great. Price is super reasonable, way better thank Super Cut. Even if you are working for minimum wage in califi. like myself can afford. Tina is super nice and I went there for a straight perm and love it so much. The price is awesome. It's only $100 for my hair length instead of other place I need to pay 150-200 to get it done. I had the worst experience here. I always set my appointments and come approximately 5 minutes early just to make sure, she never gets my appointment time. I had to do my hair for prom by myself because she was doing other people's hair and I didn't want to risk being late since I'm punctual. Again for my graduation she made me wait 50 minutes and I just left because this was a waste of my time. I don't recommend going here. It's terrible service. read more

Will definitely be coming back to this place!! I've been looking for a place to only shave/clean up my undercut without being too pricey. I used to go to fantastic sam/supercut but they usually shave it super fast and disregard all the little hair stragglers flying everywhere. It looks really messy when I tie it up. However, here I had Jessica and she really took the extra time to cut off any stragglers and made sure none was left! She was also very friendly and made sure to accommodate what I wanted. It's hard to find a salon that charges below $30 for a haircut these days. I finally found this place. It's hidden behind a Chinese bakery. I'm very satisfied with my haircut. My stylist is a Korean Chinese lady. She layered my hair nicely, since I have thin hair, she used a heated curling brush to style my hair and created some volume. She charged me $20 for the haircut. I shampooed my hair before I went so I didn't get the shampoo. If you are getting haircuts frequently and want to save some money, I definitely recommend this place. 2.5 stars I'm not sure why I was charged $30 for my haircut instead of $25 (w/wash). I called for a walk-in cut for myself and a wash and blow dry for my mom. Jackie took care of us. Let me just say, she is a nice lady and she took her time and tried her best, but I would say she's the type of stylist to go to for simple hair jobs. Compare it to getting your hair done at home by mom in the garage because that is exactly how I feel about my haircut. I really love my hairstyle before, and I only wanted a trim. Now my layers are different and my hair ends flare out. My usual hairstylist knows how short NOT to cut, to prevent the flaring. Jackie unfortunately wasn't able to style my moms hair to her liking. Maybe it was lack of communication? She took a long time to finish and struggle a bit to get the waves to come out nicely. it came out completely different from the style my mom walked in with. Jackie knew my mom wasn't happy and gave her a courtesy discount... Conclusion, the good reviews are for Tina. I also noticed a lot of male customers coming in with appointments with one of the Taiwanese stylist. I didn't catch her name, but she kinda had some attitude going on at first. Tina and Jackie asked her to help get us started with our hair washes and she said refused twice because she had an appointment coming in. WELL, she sat there snacking on a bun the entire time and her appointment didn't come in until after my hair wash was done. And lastly, the shop is tucked in a plaza and BEHIND Nini's bakery. BEST DEAL EVER. $20 for female haircut! Everywhere else you go they charge you over $60 nowadays. The best thing is, they actually do a terrific job. In addition, I did not feel rushed at all during my haircut. For only $20, the nice ladies spent over 90 minutes on my trim. This will be my go-to for haircuts from now on. read more

I've been going to Mousse for two years now and it's never disappointed me. In specifics, I get the Magic Straight perm, a perm to straighten. It takes 6 hours, and the stylists (Tina and ... forgot the other lady's name) cut after the straight perm. Not only do I love the results of the perm, but they really know how to texture, blend, layer and style asian hair. The cut and magic straight perm cost $180 last time I went. That is way more affordable than other salons which easily charge closer to $300. If you've got frizzy, unmanageable hair like my natural hair you gotta try this magic straight perm. No kidding, it's changed my life (I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's kind of true). FYI after you get the magic straight, you can't wash your hair for 7 days. After that you can wash your hair and it'll air dry perfectly into place - no blowdrying or flatironing necessary ever again! You need to touch up your roots about every 6 months, make sure Tina knows you only need the roots straight. If she redoes already processed hair it looks really jacked (learn from my mistake people!). read more

This review is not for the quality of their hair dresser as it didn't even get that far. I called twice on a Tuesday afternoon in July to make an appointment. The first time they hung up on me after saying hello. OK. I called back and asked for a slot with Tina on Saturday. The lady told me Tina is on vacation on Wednesday, not sure what it has to do with my appointment on Saturday so I asked when Tina will be back and she first said April, that's like 8 months from now, and then she sounded unsure and left me on the phone. I thought she went to check with Tina and after 5 minutes of waiting without response on the other end of the phone, I hung up. Never thought making an appointment would be this difficult. read more

I am pretty happy with this place, Jackie does my hair and really takes her time to do a nice job. It only costs $30 for a cut, wash and style a real bargain. When my BF gets his haircut it's only $15. The only reason this place is not 5 stars is once I had my hair straightened out and they burned my hair with the chemicals and it got really brittle after that, I don't know maybe it's just my hair. read more
