Are you contacting all of the other folks who left a negative review to see if they would change their position??? I suspect not. My review is accurate, honest, and will remain until I decide to remove it without coercion. I took my 2012 Toyota FJ cruiser to this shop for a complete brake replacement. They recommended and installed aftermarket disc brakes and pads. Within 500 miles the brakes developed an annoying squeak that wouldn't go away. I took the car to A1 Affordable Tire and Brakes, Cookes Brake Service, and Point "S" Tire and Brakes, and they all said that the rotors and pads were installed incorrectly, the pads were low quality, and the calipers were missing retaining clips for the pads. USA Performance recommended an aftermarket brake system in my 2012 Toyota FJ cruiser instead of the original OEM parts. The braking was very good, however, it developed an annoying squeak that couldn't be resolved without replacing the entire system with original OEM parts from Toyota. Cooke's Brake Service corrected the issue in one visit. Apparently, the system installed by USA Performance was missing integral parts (half of the caliper retaining clips) and the rotors were installed incorrectly. The rotors were installed on the wrong wheels, left rotor on right wheel and right rotor on left wheel. Half of the retaining clips were missing on the calipers. The brake pads were inferior/low-quality crap and missing half of the retaining clips that keep them on the calipers. The amateurs at USA Performance installed mismatched quality parts. That's right. High quality combined with low quality. Why would a shop knowingly pair and install low-quality parts with superior quality parts? I'll never return to this shop. Why would they not install all of the retaining clips on the new calipers? I took the car to A1 Affordable Tire and Brake, Cookes Brake Service, and Point "S" Tire and Brakes, and they all said that the rotors and pads installed were of incompatible quality meaning high-quality rotors were matched with low-quality pads. In addition to everything else, the calipers were missing half of their retaining clips, and the rotors were mounted on the wrong wheels. Secondly, they completely missed a failed fuel line on an inspection for a 1968 Mustang. The line in question is near the carburetor, easy to locate and see. The issue was in the rubber connections to the metal tubing where the fuel filter is connected. The line was hemorrhaging gas onto the intake manifold. Unfortunately, this prohibited my wife from being able to use her pride and joy pony car as well as piling more pressure on me to resolve the problem myself, which I did at a cost of $10 and ten minutes. I paid good money to have an item like this identified and addressed before I gave the car to my wife. Back to the brakes on the 2012 FJ Cruiser. Thanks to Cooke's Brake Service, I no longer have poor quality parts in my braking system, and the squeak is gone. According to Henry Ford, quality means "doing it right when no one is looking." Apparently, the owner and technicians at USA Performance forgot this axiom, and they can forget about me returning to them.

I let him know who I am and what car trouble I'm having and asked if they were open until 6:00pm. The guy on the phone asked me to bring my car in at 5:00pm which I did but when I got there the place was fenced off. I called them again but my call was forwarded. I wish he'd have been honest so I could have found somewhere else to go. Places are closed on Sunday so now I have to wait until tomorrow (Monday) to take it to a mechanic.

I assume they're all going to try to take advantage of me and my wallet simply because, well, they can. I'm very happy to report that Lake Oswego Transmission is not one of those shops and definitely renewed my faith in the industry. I recently bought an '87 Ford Tempo and had noticed some transmission issues for a couple of days and just kept hoping they would go away. Yeah, right. Coffee in hand and about to head to work, the old Tempo decides that she's had enough and told me so by not shifting past 1st gear. Not knowing where to turn and completely frazzled I recalled seeing one of those local coupon magazines in my mail a few days earlier. I sifted through my recycling bin and found their ad and gave them a call. The owner Ken told me that he was looking at a pretty full schedule that day but if I could limp my car in he would try to fit me in and see what the problem was. Within minutes of showing up at the shop Ken had my car in their very clean facility and popped the hood. Seconds later he found the problem, a broken dohicky/thingamajig that was an easy and inexpensive fix. I was thrilled but only for minutes, unfortunately. Ken offered to also put the old girl up on the lift and do a visual inspection since I was there anyway. Of course, I couldn't get off so darn easy as he showed me an obviously blown cv joint/transaxle thingamabob. It was painfully clear that my girl needed some love and I was delighted when Ken gave me the estimate for the parts and labor(providing he didn't find any additional problems) and said it should be done the same day. So, I managed a ride to work and left the old girl with Ken and waited for the dreaded call where the guy tells you that she needs a complete overhaul and that it will take a few days and cost more than I make in a week. That didn't happen. Instead, Ken called me and told me the old girl's tranny was working just fine and gave me the good news that he was right in line with the earlier estimate. The story gets even better, however. My car was missing/hesitating badly before I brought it into the shop and I told Ken about it when I dropped her off. With my limited mechanical skills I managed to replace the fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor a few weeks prior but nothing I did fixed the problem. When Ken called me he told me one of the cylinders was dropping and that he'd be happy to try to find and fix the problem. He found that I had a bad plug wire, slapped a new set of them in and got my old girl purring like a kitten again. He even stayed late to get the work done for me and did it all for what I considered a very fair price. A long-winded story, I know. But I just want everyone in the Lake Oswego/Tigard/Tualatin area to know just how good the service was, how fair and honest Ken was and that I will definitely refer my friends and family to him in the future.
