They don't charge their customer a 170$ to listen to the car when you tell them there's a weird noise and then tell you later it's another 400$ to actually diagnose the issue. PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING: I'm not usually one to write reviews, but this place warrants one. I cannot speak to the quality of their work, but what I can say is that of all the mechanics I've been to, none have even come close to being as predatory as Rob's. My single mother took her car in for an oil change and a general service. She came to me and asked me to look over their recommended repairs after they claimed she needed a $4,000 fix. The list of repairs they recommended did not have any pricing written on it. Their $4,000 repair was quoted between $350 and $800 at other mechanics. On top of that, they tried to get her to agree to repairs without hearing the price first - an illegal act. I stopped them and asked for prices. They were going to charge her $100 for an engine air filter. When called out, they said it must be an error and they reduced their price to $70. I said no and did it myself for $20 and 5 minutes of my time. That was only one of their recommended repairs. We will be going to another mechanic for the major repairs. I am reporting them to the consumer protection agency for whatever good that will do. Long story short, their name is apt. They will try to rob you. Before accepting any work from them, get a quote for the repair in question and ask a couple other mechanics if it is fair. Or at the very least, ask a friend, family member, or even your favorite AI assistant. Just whatever you do, do not blindly accept their suggested repairs. read more

Called them and set up an appointment to get my AC system flushed and recharged. My car takes R-134, and they quoted me on the phone for about $250-$300. They also say the most expensive recharge they have ever done was $500 bucks due to the price of the newer refrigerant R1234yf. I walk in, there's no record of my appointment, and I have to reschedule. I ask how much it's going to be, and the guy at the counter says $450-$500 and "that's where the market is at." They're absolute clowns. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I would not go there again. Shop failed to disclose or per labor rate and did not until after work had begun. Labor rate of $250 per hour, which is $75 per hour higher than other shops in the area. Diagnosed problem with car incorrectly and replaced wrong part. Shop technician was apparently ill prepared and not trained to perform the necessary . Came in to get advice and a quote to improve stance and better handling for my classic mustang. Lower Springs , decide on options . A tech looked at my rear springs that I informed him were lowering blocks, he said no they were the opposite. Ummm. Wrong. He didn't understand... they insisted on a vin number before quoting me the two options I requested, they never got back. I called, got an assurance of information asap. 6 days later? Not a peep. Absolutely unacceptable experience. Updated Review 1 Month After Initial Repair: I strongly caution anyone considering this business. After a terrible experience with their employees, I left an honest review and moved on. The manager then reached out to me first -- not the other way around -- and offered me a refund. He even asked me to name the amount I thought was fair.However, after dragging the situation out for weeks, he abruptly reversed course and stated no refund would be issued. At no point were other remedies or solutions even discussed. The entire exchange felt disingenuous and manipulative, as if the goal was simply to silence my concerns and placate me rather than resolve them. This kind of dishonest and unprofessional behavior speaks volumes about how this shop operates. I would strongly discourage anyone from doing business here. I write this review with the intentions of preventing others from experiencing these things. Original Review: To put it bluntly, Rob's Automotive is a dishonest, disorganized, and unethical business. I was quoted multiple different prices for a single repair job, none of which matched what I was ultimately forced to pay. The final bill came out to $700 more than the original estimate -- and no one took responsibility. SCAMMERS! Be on notice that you will be scammed going here. They wanted to charge us 300% markup on service and parts. The Ford dealers charge less. Reports started coming to me of folks saying "you didn't take it to Robs did you". My stomach dropped. My wife is seriously ill and we have been taken before. I just couldn't do that again. If you're thinking of going here, be careful of the customer service rep named CARTER! many times he has lied for the mechanics and that is why my very last visit they had the corrupt manager speak to me bc they know SHIT caught UP. Started on May 24th 2024 walked in as a first time customer and I went there for a simple oil change/filter. But wow!! Was QUOTED $54 but left paying $199.99 for oil change,labor, and my door inspection bc I've been having issues where the car handle doesn't unlock from the outside. But hold off on that bc it's another story to this. Back to the oil change. AFTER 2 and half hours I left there thinking everything's all good and done but NOPE!!! The next day my car started making tapping noise from the engine. I popped the hood and found my coolant reservoir empty! What kind of shop sees a reservoir EMPTY and doesn't top it off. I constantly asked myself that. The following day I called but they were closed for memorials day. The next day (may 28th 2024) I finally reached Carter and of course he claims the paper I received said all inspections were good and top notch besides my windshield fluids. Which that didn't even matter bc I kept telling the first day to make sure the coolant is checked bc I know I haven't serviced my car. He claim the mechanic "CHEYENNE" saw the radiator had "ENOUGH" coolant inside that she missed to top off the reservoir as well. Doesn't add up. They both tried to convince me that everything should be good,fluids& hoses are good. But I bought the coolant myself and topped it off when I found it empty. I paid for a trusted company to get the job done RIGHT and it wasn't. They lost my trust. How do I even know they did any job at all. Avoid this place like the plague, shady mechanics that are incapable of fixing your car and instead find new expensive repairs needed after promising the previous ones would fix the car. First repair - $3500 - check engine light came on and car randomly died every now and then, timing belt issue. Claimed 50,000 mile warranty. First repair did not rectify issue. Issue persisted, took it back to the shop and was charged ANOTHER inspection fee ("free full inspection with oil change is another lie these people push, if there's actually an issue they are scummy opportunists that will try to juice you out of every dollar you have") to find a separate issue identified in the first inspection but not addressed. $860 dollars. Dude (Chris) says there was also a leaky hose and promised it "wouldn't be another expensive repair". I call today to get my car back and they want another $450. If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT USE THESE HACKS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A DIESEL!! We paid for almost $5K worth of repairs. Didn't even get home the first 2 times before error codes came back on. Finally the 3rd time I told them I was going to get a second opinion and get back to them. I got a secondary inspection that showed the exact power steering pumps I had paid them to replace were gushing power steering fluid everywhere and they incorrectly cut and reinstalled our exhaust system. The ended up costing me more money to repair the damage they caused. When I asked for a small and very reasonable partial refund (showing the documentation with photos and additional inspection report), I was told no (I only wanted $900 back). I had to let them have a 4th wack at it. That's like have a doctor cut the wrong leg off and him wanting a second chance to fix it! read more

At the time, I need my vehicle worked out. That was a big mistake taking it here. They worked on my breaks and did a very poor job, did not tighten my caliber my breaks were not done right, the cylinder was all loose even the bolt and started scrapping the inside of my rear rim. RUN AWAY from this HIGH PRICED INFERIOR mechanic's shop. 1000 dollars for back brakes and they still don't perform as they should. Car is too dangerous to drive now. Big mistake on my part for going there. Now I have to go to another mechanic to fix the issue. It was super stressful and inconvenient to have to go back a second time and have them fix it right. It is still not right. Plus, I got the car back with the oil light blinking. $100 oil change and I get an oil light coming on as if it's empty of oil. $69 for a gallon of oil?? This place seeks to get rich off of one customer so to speak. Going there is asking for trouble. Rob's for years had been my go-to place to refer my friends and family after an excellent job after my timing belt broke as we were driving. They rebuilt and brought my Honda van back to life. But that was another day. My last interactions left me feeling like I have in the past regarding up-sells and a push to address issues other than those presented. After three weeks, I'm going to get my van in the same shape as I left it. Until the final days, the quote was $5,700 for work that was not necessary to the problem presented. Only in the last days did I get an actual quote for what I brought the van in for. Sadly, I can't trust them to complete the work. For the first time since moving here three years ago, I have to find a new mechanic. When they respond, which they usually do, I'll add emails and bills to show how long it took for them to actually send me a quote just for the necessary work. I came here like a year ago. I needed the axle fixed but didn't know what else the car needed. They did all this expensive work, never fixed the axle, and broke my clock spring disabling airbags and horn and other things. They sent me out without airbags til I called back. It took them months to get the clock spring right. Then at some point my steerin broke leaving me stranded in Washington with my car full of packages to deliver. They never apologized and blamed me for being upset. When this happened my clock spring broke again. They tried for months but were too incompetent to fix it. All the work they did was horrible. They damaged my seat, smoked my vapes that were in the car. All the parts they used were so bad as was their work. It was so bad I had to pay thousands to get it fixed elsewhere. This company should be shut down for putting my life at risk and not giving a damn about it. They took over $2000 of my money and sent me out to die. I will be sharing this with every governing body I can There is a lot more to this I forget bc it has been so long but these people are behaving like criminals. I dropped my Audi TT off on July 20th for a gas cap, trunk and electric soft-top that weren't opening. Nathan, the manager assured me that they were very familiar with Audi's the car was a special gift from my deceased spouse. Joseph called on July 21st who said the problem was a wiring issue caused by mice damage they found and that the cost to repair it and make a new key fob would be under $1,000. I then received a call stating that this did not fix the issue and needed more tome. . After numerous efforts of leaving message with no responses days and months went by. Kyle, new Manager Finally reached out., he told me The last two people I talk to were fired. Kyle And he confirmed a better mechanic was looking at the car now.After not hearing back for some time, Days and weeks went by again Kyle said the owner, Rob , and that they would not charge me for any hours besides the initial work that I had approved and had already paid. Kyle also assured me at that time that they had a more experienced mechanic that would look at it More days in weeks went by and the new Manager, Craig Then told me that Kyle was let go. Craig Accuse me of not having these conversations because they recorded calls could not find it. And that the owner Rob was not going to honor what Kyle say d. At this point I asked my insurance agent to go out and look at the car to determine a value, to see if the repair costs would be less than the value of my car in an attempt to avoid my car being considered 'totaled'. Later I received a call and a forwarded email from my agent that he had received from Rob that said the invoice for an $2,328.65 And they were going to charge me $45 rent free until I picked up the car. When my insurance company called they said the bill was 5000 bucks. When I showed up to pick up my car And tow truck even though my car drove in, I was told it was undrivable and they needed more time to put it back together. And Craig told me that they would have them car detailed and as good as it was when I dropped it off. It was not, now the windows and lights now do not work and missing pieces that cover the middle counsel area. Also they charged me for a key replacement refund that was never made. The car is longer what it was worth because of the totaled claim to pay to fix it and all for a $385 part. read more

NEGATIVE 1 * After dropping off my vehicle and getting a over the phone quote of $7352, I kindly asked for a price list for work to be done on my vehicle. Marc said, "sure I'll email it to you!" that was on Oct 28th. I never received the email so on Nov 2nd I went in to see why I had not received the email. Marc said his email doesn't work and needed it fixed. He could have called me and let me know but didn't. I asked for a hard copy that was adjusted to be $7943. and was okay with it until later when I started looking up prices and calling Napa on parts listed. Come to my surprise they doubled the price of most of the parts!! Over and beyond expensive and crooked. I quickly sent the same invoice over to another reliable automotive shop down the street and it will now cost under $3500..00 w/quality GMC parts. Picked my vehicle up as soon as I could (but not soon enough) before any major damage was done to my vehicle or wallet. I was referred to Rob's for a starter repair because my regular car service could not fit me in for 2 weeks. The wonderful people at Rob's fit me in the same day! Rebecca and Mark are the nicest customer service people. They walked me through what would have to be done, how it would work, called the car rental place for me as it was going to take several days (due to unavailability of part). They got me a 'special' rate at the rental car place, saving me hundreds of bucks. My car was ready when they said it would be. Just a great place all around. Highly recommend. read more

Second visit. Thought I found an honest shop after first visit. I had oil pan installed in June 2023 due to plug damage from another shop. After a period of time, I noticed oil drops on my garage floor. I put cardboard on floor and watched for leakage. Leakage was minor but it was leakage. I assumed new pan gasket had leak. After spending close to $1K for new pan, I returned to shop for evaluation. Christopher, who claimed to be shop manager, did inspection and advised that valve covers were leaking. Inspection also indicated oil level was "way over filled." The only oil in that crankcase was put in by their technician. Overfilling causes high oil pressure and seal failure. I asked him to perform a oil change and put proper amount of oil. He refused, and accused me of adding oil and overfilling crankcase. . Boy was I wrong about an honest shop.. Quibbling about a $70 oil change after spending $900 to make things "right" is not good business policy, and definitely not "honest!" BUYER BEWARE! read more

This place seems okay until you get your keys back and they tell you they got it running better, and the mechanic thinks the egr valve needs decarbed. After the first shop that totally screwed up your air and timing, even drilling into the throttle body with a 1/4 inch drill bit after they retarded the distributor timing 20 degrees so it would run at all, after they "rebuilt" the tbi and tried to get it to idle normal like it did before I brought it in. It was idling at 1600-1800 rpms cold and 1300-1400 warmed up! So Rob's adjusted timing and turned the air screw back closer to the factory set, it has a metal cap so dimwits like Andrew's "Napa" who refused to renew his franchise in 2019, yet continues to use their signs and other Napa point of sale marketing in his shop, as well as work orders... However, it lacks power like it never has before, besides one time when there was a broken spark plug and old wires. But I did an entire tune up before taking it to Andrew's, whose business is up the road on 82nd in an automotive service strip mall beside the Burger King who actually listen to the customer and gives it to them their way. And I suspect the other car shop next door was helping Andrew keep up taking tough jobs like mine, which was diagnose why it runs good but stalls when warm and turning or sitting at idle longer than 20 seconds. There was a slight miss and low idle. There STILL is, after 4 days in these two shops! And I don't want to return to either one even though neither Rob's or Andrew's honored the NAPA 20,000 mile/2year warranty. Well, Andrew's did but after they ruined my throttle body and I had to use a shop vac and towels to remove all the metal shavings he left around the front of the intake manifold and down around the exhaust man., and valve cover. Also the alternator and coolant hoses and stuff. And after 3 times with their efforts it barely ran enough to get me home, 4 miles away. And blew up in my face, right after when I popped the hood and revved the throttle on the side of the T.body barely at all to hear how bad it was missing and look and listen to the motor to see if I could tell what else they did. It was as loud as an M80 and scared me enough to shut it off and call to ask for a tow the next morning, reluctantly, fearing they were only making it worse not better. I never smelled gas in the engine compartment before, but there was a smell like leaked gas and maybe starting fluid. What kind of shop does that? But call back I did, and Andrew was rude and began yelling profanities at me like I hurt him by bringing my business to him! I hung up and decided to call someone even closer by in case it kept backfiring or stopped running. Where hopefully they will take on Andrew's Napa warranty. Which they seemed to think so but in the end, you guessed it nope, they did not. But they found the problem, one I already included in notes I wrote on the front of my work order from Andrew's. The EGR...and their suggestion was to clean the valve out...nope, I already checked that too, before Andrew's tbi job. The egr functioned fine up to that point. Full movement and good suction. I even explained to Rob's desk person how I had cleaned the intake manifold port under the egr as well as I could after checking the egr! So to hear him tell me his mechanic suspects a clogged egr and cleaning it will cost another $280, nope that isn't going to happen. What about tuning up the truck so it doesn't miss throughout the power range, and die at take off from a stop? And I assume the new injectors spray the same as the old ones did, so but after rebuilding the tbi shouldn't it get better fuel Econ, not worse? Especially after as many as 5 mechanics in three different shops including mine, checked it over? I haven't had time to get too far into it yet, but I did find Rob's tore the hot air intake tube so much at the lower end it wouldn't even fit on. And pieces of it were found inside the air filter and box above the intake. In the pan which they also crushed the k&n replacing the cover crooked so that it was open around the whole front and driver side of the air box! And no hot air when it's cold with the tube hanging loose and unattached at either end. So there will be no return there either for me and you would be wiser to avoid them as well. i Wouldn't trust them to put on a dam bike chain. they had my car for two months! I went there 5 Times for the same problem AND THEY STILL DIDNT FIX THE PROBLEM. My car was under warranty luckily but work was A horrible job. I ended up taking my car to another mechanic who fixed the actual problem not their own damage. Rob's Automotive NO LONGER MY CHOICE FOR AUTO SERVICE. Rob's has serviced both my GMCs for over 3 years. Last bill excess of $5,000 the work and customer service WERE great! I was most LOYAL customer recommending friends and family. Recently called 3 times over a week just to get estimate for 90,000 mile service quoted $1,600. That's $1,000 MORE than the dealership for exact same service. If that wasn't bad enough they included items required every 50,000 miles that were done at their shop less than a year ago. I should have buckled up for the ride when he said "you must really like our shop to call back for estimate." Truly disappointing. read more

They mark up parts at least 5 times what the parts are worth and try to tell me that's standard in the business. $372 for 8 spark plugs and coil wires and then $450 in labor? $145 for a $20 power steering hose? Standard markup in the industry is 7x what a part retails for? They must think I've never had a vehicle worked on before in my life if they expect me to believe that. These guys charged me at least double what the work they did should have been anywhere else. $3200 for spark plugs and wires, fluid changes in both differentials and a power steering hose? That's INSANE. How does a tune up cost 850 bucks? I've called around and they charged me triple what the work was worth. They fleeced me and you'd be wise to go ANYWHERE else with your vehicle. Even with all the fake 5 star reviews they put up they can't get their rating above 3 star. This place needs to be put out of business. These people are the worst first time I went there they said they fixed my driveline, that was false it broke again after a day of driving. So I take it back they aggressively it's there fault so they fix again. Well then it breaks again ". So they tell me it's my rear end. Okay So I pay to have them fix that. 800$ later it breaks again! So they fix again keeps shredding the carrier barring.! So I tell them look I'm paying way too much in tows they need to buy the OEM part and put that in. They said if we do that this is the last time we will warrantee the work. I say fine. Then boom been 30k miles we're still going strong. They just wanted to be CHEAP and buy cheap parts. With all that I say what ever they did the job I'll try them again when my heater core went out. So I call set up an appointment to fix my heater core. They give me a quote for the job, I set up a date. I show up check my car in, and first thing I noticed my quote is 200$ more then what he said over the phone. I say hey this isn't right you up charging me too much. They continue to say oh we forgot this other part in the quote. I tell them well that's not what we agreed on and I want prepared for that extra charge the man very rudely and sarcastically says well we're telling you now. At this point I'm late for work and don't have time for this so I say whatever and sign for the work to get done. They proceed to call me back to have me come pick up a hat and a couple pieces of paper on the floor because the technician can't work with it like that. So needless to say I just go and pull my truck out of that shop and miss half a work day and wast my time dealing with these unprofessional extremely lazy people I would never take my car to this shop ever again and would recommend you don't either they will rip you off and waste your time. read more

This place is awful!! They will lie to you about needing things done on your car! And the broke a piece if my air filter compartment when I went in for an oil change!!! I went in for oil change in September and they told me I need new brakes, on my 2017 Toyota Camry SE. I took it to les schwab to get a break inspection and les schwab said my brakes look perfect! So I thought that was weird, but shook it off as a mistake on their part or figured they were just trying to get more money. But today I took my same car in to get an oil change which I had an appointment for and they said it's going to be 2 hours and we can't sit in their empty lobby while we wait for them so we had to walk around outside for 2 hours in the industrial area. While waiting I got a msg in the second hour saying a list of stuff that was wrong with my car. Most were simple minor things, like air filter needs changed, license plate light out, bad front tires (which I have appt at les schwab to get new tires tomarrow), they said my maintenance light was on (which is why I went in for an oil change) and they don't know the last time I got oil changed cuz I didn't have a sticker. The last oil change I got was from them in September, and they did not give me a sticker! The big thing was they broke my air filter compartment! And they told me I really need a new battery. They were very adamant about a new battery! Seemed weird to me as my car has not shown any signs of bad battery and it's a fairly new battery. After I left there I went and had my battery professionally tested and surprise by battery was fine!!! Idk why they continue to tell me I need things that are perfectly fine, and why they broke my air filter compartment! I will never go back and recommend you do not go here either!! The lady at the reception desk did call and apologize and offered me a free oil change, but I don't think that's worth the risk of them breaking something else on my car in order to tell me something that was good before I got there is now bad!! Do not trust these people with your vehicle!! You will regret it!!! read more

Time and time again I use Rob's and am always 100% pleased with the work as well as the staff. Brian at the front desk is an honest, stand up guy and will NOT sell you anything you don't need! These guys are my first choice if it's something I can't do myself or have the tools for. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my truck!
