This is one of the best experiences I have ever had with an auto repair shop. They have worked on my 2002 Chevy camper as well as my 2017 RAV. They provide a very clear estimate and do an inspection. Of course, there's always things to fix, but then I am advised about what's actually important. This all started in Late November 2024 and continued up to Feb. 14th, 2025 ORS 646A.482 - at no time did the shop provide an estimate as outline by Oregon Law. Furthermore the shop did not provide a written estimate when the repairs would exceed the original estimate. My telephone conversations are recorded for verification, my Tahoe is equipped with video cameras and my office as video recording. There is zero evidence that would reflect the shop calling or emailing with an original estimate. I have a Presidential Award from President Clinton for my life saving work has a Firefighter / Paramedic. I have a stellar reputation for my life saving work over the last 30 years. If the shop wants to commit slander then that's on them. Started off with a few repairs that went ok. Recently it's completely gone down to a 1 star review. I've spent over $10,000 in repairs in the few months. So far none of the repairs were completed correctly the first time. Most repairs are taking 2 to 4 redo's to fix it. By now I'm not sure if anyone is capable of finishing the repairs? 3 times trying to fix each part they installed, and it's still not repaired? How many more times is it going to take to finish it? 2? 5? 10? Recently they started recommending services that aren't needed which is a red flag. My thermostat was brand new but somehow it needed to be replaced? My idler pully was brand new but somehow it needs to be replaced? Back in December when the Tahoe was in the shop for 3 weeks my battery died. That cost me $450 dollars to replace it - it's an expensive AGM custom battery. Also concerning is installing the wrong parts for the Tahoe. I made it clear what the part numbers to order and the shop still didn't install the right parts. To top everything off after so many hiccups, there's more.... On 2/6/2025 - After spending an additional $1,700 dollars - by the time I drove home I realized my Tahoe in worse condition than when I took it into the shop! I dropped off my Tahoe on Saturday and was left stranded. The shop didn't have a rental car and didn't offer to pay for an Uber. I live almost an hour away. There's no chance of walking that far. I wasted over 3 hours on Saturday of my own time. I add cancel family events, such as a birthday party, to have enough time to deal with the repairs. I ended up paying for an Uber ride home & I'll have to pay for a rental car so don't miss work for the next 2 to 3 weeks. Rough guess is my Tahoe could be in the shop for another 2 weeks or longer. Uber + rental car fees for 2 to 3 weeks? Another $2,000+ dollars I'll get stuck with the fees for something that's not my fault?!? On 2/14/2025 - I found out the distributor was broken and the EGR tube was broken during the repairs. Now I'm out another $900 dollars. Zero Stars! read more

Took my car in for to diagnose a sputtering, jerking sensation when driving. They came back and told me my catalytic converter was bad. I told them the dealer just replaced the catalytic converter about a year ago. They then told me my transmission was bad and estimated $5,500-6,500 to fix. I also believe they forced a transmission error code which I couldn't duplicate. I later looked into it with my amateur mechanical skill figured out the ignition coil was bad. He charged me $155 for a misdiagnose. Would not trust this shop with my vehicle. read more

Jeep was throwing an error code for the transmission, which I knew already. Took them 3 days to perform a diagnostic due to a tech being sick or having family problems (I got conflicting info). Ken said the problem was a TCM and they could either reprogram it or replace it, for a lot more money. I wanted to think on it, said I'd call back, which I did about an hour later. Talked to a different person, relayed my intent was to just reprogram the TCM, he said no problem, he'd let Ken know, I get a text 2 days later from Ken asking what I wanted to do. I responded immediately asking him to reprogram. No reply, no calls for 2 more days. I call in again asking for an update. Person said Ken was talking to the technician that very moment about my Jeep and he'd call my back shortly. No callback until the next morning, at which point Ken asks again what I want ed done with my vehicle. Completely floored and frustrated...they had my car for over a week, didn't do any actual work, no one seemed to know what was going on, no one was actually seemed to be working on any vehicles both times I was there, and I got charged $150 for a diagnostic result I already knew. Bottom line, Jeep is still not fixed. Go somewhere else, avoid being disappointed!!! read more

The former owner of TC automotive was a lying crook and burned a lot of people. We have numerous vehicles and needed a good shop so we cautiously went back hoping the new owners would be different. Sadly, nothing has changed. Same game, different owners. In fairness the mechanics are great and do good work. But i wouldn't trust the owner or office staff as far as I could throw them. I've been gouged more than once, told one thing then received something else. The communication in this place is non-existent. I try not to judge by one experience but this seems to be a pattern. I brought my car in to address the check engine light on my Land Rover and a faulty windshield wiper. After leaving it in the shop for half a day, I received an estimate for over $2K in repairs, with no specific diagnosis for the only two items that I specifically brought the car in for. Their estimate included a $95 charge to diagnose the check engine light, the cause of which I can only assume would have been added to the additional recommended repairs that they identified. I took the car to Land Rover Portland and they diagnosed the check engine issue immediately, and without any charge. They had my car for a day. They cleared the check engine light, and I paid a few hundred dollars. As for the additional repairs that Town Center said that I needed, Land Rover Portland did not agree. For example, Town Center said my brakes were completely worn down and needed to be replaced "immediately". Land Rover said I had an additional 2000 miles left on them and could wait. 5/20 UPDATE: The response by the owner to my review is NOT accurate...but let's pretend for a second that it was. None of what he says addresses that fact that Town Center recommended extensive repairs for my car that were unnecessary, as determined by a dealership who specializes in servicing the make and model of my car. I have Town Center's diagnosis of the issues with my car, and I also have Land Rover's diagnosis of the issues with my car. Facts are facts. read more

I took my car in for an oil leak and was not informed an apprentice would be working on my car. He happened to miss the lift. Why was there no oversight provided? The owner said they apologize many times...the service advisor apologized once and I didn't get a call from the owner until after picking up my car and complaining. I had to ask for a rental car since I was not going to have a car for three days and they sounded hesitant at first. Not my problem!!! Also, the advisor said they would take care of maintenance stuff at no charge, but I think that was all said so I would not file a claim, as this was not done. But the kicker is they would not give me the paperwork of what was done to my car. I had to go over to the body shop and ask for it!!! Talk about horrible customer service! read more

Front drive line on my Ram 2500 decided it didn't want to stay attached while I was driving. As it broke free it decided to destroy brake line, fuel line, wiring harness trans cooler lines and a few other things. This caused a lot of stress for me, but what was not stressful was working with Kevin and the crew at TCA. They talked me through all my options and answered all my questions. If I could give this shop no stars, I definitely would! The mechanical work was done very poorly as they had my vehicle for over two weeks, continually calling me to say more work was needed and more money was required, returned it to me saying it was done, had to take it back in again as it was still not fixed, kept it for another week all for a total of more than $5,000.00. My vehicle still does not run as it should based on everything they say they did. They also ruined the carpet inside my vehicle with grease and oil as well as staining brand new seat covers by not using coverings as any good garage would do. Most importantly, I found their "attempt" at customer service to be deplorable. I was treated very poorly from start to finish. Highly discourage trusting them to work on your vehicle. read more

When i went to go get it he charged me $200 less than he thought it was going to cost! I was happy about that. I called them as I was on my way to the business to let them know I was going to be late and at that point they said they would give me an estimate but expected to do the work at the same time. These guys have been reliable for repairs, although there are a few issues. The biggest issue I have with them is that they sell your information to others. I got a call this morning AT 8AM from "National Vehicle Protection" trying to "check on my last service with Town Center Automotive" and then trying to sell me products. The only way they got that info was if Town Center sold it to them. SHAME ON YOU! They are very nice, but their communication and follow-thru sucks. I've had my car sit there for days without them remembering what it was supposed to have done with it. (They forgot, and when I called to check on it, they went "Oh yeah!") Although they do good work, and have been fair with their pricing, I don't like having to chase my vendors. I don't appreciate having my information and cell phone number sold to telemarketers. For this reason, I won't be back nor will I refer anyone. read more

I tell you what, this shop is amazing. Old school shop with excellent service. My boyfriend took my car in because I had a deep feeling something was wrong. Turns out my ball joints were about to pop out. Tom, the owner, was so accommodating. I couldn't afford to fix it right then, but he went out of his way to help me out and gave me a great deal. He saw the car seat in the back and wouldn't let me drive away without fixing it first. He said I could be driving down the road, hit a pothole and my steering could've gone out and it wasn't safe. He showed me the ball joints to prove it. What an honest mechanic. He didn't overcharge, and was incredibly friendly. I plan on going back to fix my car whenever it needs anything. read more

Now they are charging me 300+ to pull the transmission out that they never did. Wow! What a find. Told we needed yet another expensive repair by "M" so we went to Town Center for another repair quote. They did a thorough check on our car and determined that it didn't need a new water pump, just a new radiator hose. Worst experience of my life. My automatic transmission went out ofter towing a heavy trailer, so I took it to these guys. Got it fixed and back in a week - cost $2,200. In less than 20,000 miles it went out again - refused to engage reverse. Called since the warranty was still good and told them the problem, they insisted that my engine failed to produce enough torque to engage the gears. I disagreed feeling that 315 hp was likely just dandy. Tom insisted that I didn't understand how a transmission worked and wanted to speak to my husband. My husband called him an asshat and insisted they honor their warranty and fix the car. Took it in and 2 weeks later was contacted by another business because my truck had been abandoned in their lot for 12 days and they wanted me to retrieve it! Called Tricounty. After back and forth arguing, I finally got them to get my truck back to their shop and work on it. It took 4 more days and many, many threats (finally threatened to bring my 8 preschoolers on caffeine and sugar) to get the work fixed. I have driven it about 35,000 miles since that fix. Guess what just started smoking? Love putting out more than two grand so that I can walk everywhere. read more

After having been "taken for a ride" by the best-known VW shop in town, I decided to give a local mechanic's shop (TC Automotive) a try. I have a '72 VW Riviera Bus that required completion of a brake job that I'd initiated. I also required some minor work on the taillight and re-connection of an air hose. Robert was right there for me all the way, and while it ran several hundred dollars more than I'd planned, the work was done right and on time as promised. I was screwed over big time. $2800 for a tranny that wasn't sealed properly. Mechanic supposedly fired after. So I have no idea how bad the work was. My van died shortly after despite all the work. Talked down to like it was my fault when I brought it back to be fixed properly. But more $$$ of course. He said. Well did you run over a curb??? No I did not. Unauthorized work. No return phone calls. Actually FORGOT about my vehicle till I harrassed them daily and had my boyfriend call. I've known the family 20 years and this was the experience I got???? Rude, demeaning, know it all, Giant ego having scam artist with no regard for a new mom with a 1 month old. I can not emphasize enough how much you will be ripped off.
