Fry oysters,flounder filet sandwich, their famous blue crab with garlic and Old Bay Spice, just the right amount of spice. Other places tend to over do it, but they get it right! We are crazy for crabs so when the cravings start we'll drive anywhere to get live hardshells to cook at home. Called the Clam Shack on a Wednesday morning to check on availability, was told they had #2. Hopped in the car and drove the 30 minutes to the store, no male crabs, only a few females. Why didn't they look and tell us this on the phone? Save us an hour round trip. Ruin our expectations for a crab dinner. Horrible customer service and they weren't apologetic. This is the place I get crabs every year. They are very fresh. Since they are contingent upon the catch of the ocean so come early because once the crabs are gone they are gone. We love to get old bay crabs and then another dozen of old bay and garlic combined. They also have clams and other fish here to buy. They have a nice chalkboard that tells you what they have available each day. They carry melted butter and other hot sauce if you need as well. The staff is friendly. Found this gem of a place on Yelp. Was heading to AC for the weekend and wanted crabs. The owner was bery nice and friendly. So were the locals who in and out picking up their seafood fix. If you're looking for steamed clams, this is the spot!! I've tried many all over the area and these are the best in quality and price.

Me and a couple of friends were on our way out of Atlantic City when one of us remembered that we weren't supposed to leave until we had some damn seafood in our stomachs (I'm going to take credit because my recall during moments of starvation is pretty on point). My friend yelped the shit out of the area till we found this place. I had no idea where to park but I found a little nook right next to the Shack in what seemed like a private parking lot but honestly, it looked more like organized chaos with cars, abandoned boats, and trucks sprawled everywhere. When we walked in, the first thing I noticed was how quaint the place was. In fact, there was only one small table with two stools in the establishment. However, we were not undeterred. We came to eat some shellfish dammit and we weren't leaving till we achieved our goal. I ordered some King Crab Legs doused in garlic broth. Outstanding. The legs were huge and the meat inside was succulent. I'm currently salivating at the thought of them. My friends ordered shrimp (saturated in garlic broth), Snow Crab legs, onion rings, full belly clams, and fries. Since I had the pleasure of grubbing off of them for a bit (who am I kidding? I had a lot more than a bit), I loved consuming all except the onion rings. This is definitely a place that I will look to go back to at some point....mainly for the seafood. It's a nice place to have a farewell meal when you are leaving the debauchery that is Atlantic City. read more

I've been getting Blue Claw crabs from the Clam Shack in Pleasantville for years! YEARS! Called at 10:30 am was told, very rudely, by Chrissy . "We open at noon, 1st come/1st serve." We were out, so we headed over to wait around 11:15 and there were people that had already ordered and were waiting! We placed an order for 2 dozen #1s and was told by Kelly it would be half an hour they had just come in. NP....we will wait. So we wait 40 min in our car watching tons of people come and go. I went up to ask Kelly how much longer and she said "Sorry it's gonna be at least an hour more!" When I questioned why she told me a different thing 40 minutes prior I was told ever so rudely, " Listen if you want #1s it's gonna be an hour or more, period!" These crabs are $50 a dozen ($18 when we started) and at that price you'd think you'd get some kind of professionalism!!! She actually told me I was impatient!!! Every single person I spoke with could not have been more nasty! Wish I could say this was an isolated instance but it's NOT the first time we've been treated poorly. Just the nail in the coffin! I became a fried seafood snob after living in New England. We visited this place on a busy holiday weekend. The seafood was served hot and fresh and the batter they use is amazing. Delicious taste and hefty portions. The scallops were fried just right - golden, not too greasy. The clams are doused in the best garlic butter sauce and the #2 crab dozen is a steal at $20. Disseminating the crab is an arduous but rewarding experience. You have to be patient with the shell, but the meat you get out is worth every minute. read more

My new family has had an annual crabfest for several years supplied by the Clam Shack and we've always been happy. When my now wife suggested we cater our beach wedding reception with them, I thought it was a great idea. The price was exceptionally reasonable for the amount of food we served, the staff was unbelievably efficient and invisible, and helped to make our wedding reception the talk of the town! I can't recommend them enough, they were easy to work with, listened to our needs and responded perfectly. The best blue claw crabs I have ever had !! They clean them and cook them with garlic. The counter girl said they make their own old bay and I believe it because it a different taste but the best i have ever tried. We also got two pounds of medium shrimp , so so so good. Like so good I don't even know what else to say. The absolute rudest customer service there is. I called early this afternoon to order 12 crabs cooked and cleaned. I called back a little later to ask if I could pick them up later than originally discussed. The person on the phone said she had no order. I told her that I had certainly called and even discussed that they had no #1's. She even gave me the total price. I was yet again told no order was taken. After that another extremely rude woman said that she didn't take an order. I told them after they accused me of never putting in an order that they clearly didn't have it together and never mind ordering again. I got a call back after that on my phone and the really rude one barked at me "did you call from a different number cuz you're not even on caller ID?!" I said yes and gave my home phone number. She barked "did you put them under Harry? Sally?!?" I replied no (maybe she noticed the number but it was the wrong name written??- either way she didn't admit it). I had enough and told her that she was rude and that you don't accuse customers of being wrong or making up fake orders. She answered "We don't have your order so you are obviously psycho! Have a nice day!" And she hung up on me. We called Bob's Seafood and they couldn't be nicer AND they had #1's! Do yourself a favor and sidetrack rude people.
