this place was so good we got it for dinner 2 nights in a row! their lobster boil was chefs kiss. the garlic butter was so flavorful and not too salty. i also really enjoyed the king crab soup! cole slaw was fresh and made well. the crab spaghetti was also perfect! the noodles were al dente my son got the crab mac and cheese and said it was super yummy. he also really enjoyed their kielbasa their cornbread was also so fresh and made wonderfully. the king crab was cold though so i definitely wouldn't get it again. the only thing i have a comment on is their spicy carolina hot sauce. it wasn't very good and tasted like old bay mixed with hot sauce. i wish it was more flavorful!

If you're ever thinking not to go off the beaten path. Think again and go here!!! It's a quiet street with just the right amount of noise and lovely music. Street parking. The outside is perfect with 3 picnic style tables. If you're lucky enough to meet PJ he is great with showing you around the menu, helping with substitutions, and accommodating any diner in his restaurant. He's kind and funny and treats you like a guest in his home. Your silverware comes out in a bucket hence the name "buckets". We ordered 2 singles one Jersey style and one create your own New England style. We also went for the Alaskan king crab soup. With the boils you get corn bread. Really warm, fresh and delicious.

The store is very small so either hope you go at a time and can eat in or take out. If you eat in, the staff is super nice and will keep up with anything you need or want to order! Very friendly, you can just grab drinks or some things around if you need it and the staff will keep track for you. The lobster rolls were filled and tasted great! We also got some a la carte seafood, the 25 muscles, and it was amazing in the garlic butter lemon sauce! We even added more of that sauce to our lobster rolls.

A total let-down... I was so excited because of the high ratings, but the food overall was so dry and salty. However, staff were friendly and service was good. There's a few tables indoors and outdoors. Not ideal for large groups indoors; it's probably better outdoors for larger groups. My husband and I ordered the snow crabs ($19.99 per lb) with potatoes and corn (additional ~$5), lobster rolls ($24.99; animal & traditional styles), New England clam chowder ($4 for 8oz), mac & cheese ($3.99), and corn bread ($1.99). I was super excited to have snow crabs, but had difficulty enjoying them because they were so salty and not very meaty... The lobster rolls' lobster was super dry, and the roll tasted crumby and old. The New England clam chowder was my favorite of the night, but SOMETHING if not everything gave me a stomachache... Side note: FYI, the main difference b/t the traditional and animal style lobster rolls is that the traditional (salad) style is colder than the animal style lobster roll.

Hands down the best lobster roll in the state. We had the BEST Experience here for dinner. The owner was SO nice and hospitable. The crab Rangoon and homemade Mac and cheese are phenomenal. And the lobster roll was EASILY the best I've ever had. Can't recommend this place enough.

This is a no frills seafood restaurant and that's exactly what it is. Food was ok but not great. Lobster was overcooked. Waitress was not interested in waiting on us. Warm soda, no lobster bib and it was quite messy ( table next to us got bib's from a different waitress!)

    Crab Cake

I was super excited to try this place and I ordered a crab cake and I'm not entirely sure what happened to it :( This was not what I was expecting when I opened the box. No lemons, tartar sauce, or cocktail sauce... All just mushed and broken up. Disappointing

We just got into Ventnor for our summer vacay on a Friday night and made our way to PJ's. I would highly suggest making a reservation as this place is poppin'. We were a party of 8 with a dog and needed outdoor seating, luckily we came right after a party had left and were able to get a table. This place is the definition of a mom & pop, hole in the wall. It was super pet friendly! The owner PJ waited our table and even brought over an un-seasoned sausage for my pup. He treated our family with such kindness, not to mention the food was delicious. My favorite I think was the cornbread. It was moist and you could see the real bits of corn inside of it. Will definitely be returning the next time we take family vacation here.

We have been to it plenty of times in our over 30 years of visiting AC and we have never been disappointed. The ambiance is cosy with nautical themed items decorating the walls. They have limited seating in the small establishment, with the best option being sitting at the counter at the window to people watch while enjoying your seafood items. We are always greeted by pleasant staff. They have daily specials and feature a seafood case filled with a variety of fresh seafood items that you can literally pick and they will prepare in store or you can choose to purchase to go. Our go to is the flounder and fish platter, which comes with house made slaw and fries, and either a side of fried clams or oysters. The platter also comes with a canned soda, which you get to pick the flavor choice from the beverage case. We always enjoy our food in store and are always luck enough to grab a few seats. The flounder and shrimp platter was fresh and crispy, with a light coating that did not take away from the delicate taste of the fish and shrimp. The slaw was fresh and an ok side. The fries were crispy and nothing was greasy. The oysters were fried well and when bitten, popped with a nice, fresh taste. And don't worry my MD folks, they have Old Bay to dust your food (which I really appreciate!). We suggest coming as soon as they open or call your order in ahead of time to avoid the long line that forms. All in all, our go to seafood spot when visiting AC.

The atmosphere is really nice it reminds me of a cruise ship. They have a huge bar and the restaurant is huge. First we started off with the oysters and they were amazing I love raw oysters and these were super fresh. Then we got the Clams Casino and they were one of the best Iv ever had, the flavor was on point the peppers were perfect and has lots of flavor, the bacon was cooked great as well. The clam itself was perfect not chewy at all just a great choice. The Grilled octopus was very good. Super tender great flavor and the beans are a great touch gives it another burst of flavor that just works and tastes great. We then shared the docks seafood fry and yes that picture is a shared portion of it which is a lot of food and let me tell you that was AMAZING. The crab cake was perfect as well I love crab cake and this one is up there with one of the best iv ever had. The service was great there are a ton of servers and they constantly check up on you and the food and I love that. We got there and it looked, calm, simple, and plain from the outside - until we walked in... this place was PACKED! Clearly, since we didn't make reservations, we weren't going to enjoy seating at their white table cloth tables in the main dining room, but we went around back to their bar and scored one last table there. Our server, Brian was amazing... engaging... and on point! They have a nice wine list and perfect spirit list. They also have an outstanding menu loaded with so many options, that I really just needed to settle on the first thing I saw that looked good. For me, I love cucumbers and when I saw they had a cucumber salad, done Asian style, I was completely in!!! Then I saw their soup of the day was split pea with bacon and since no one serves split pea and when they do, it's rarely what I expect, I got that too! Both of these came out looking GREAT! The cucumber salad had a nice spice to it and the flavors overall were sooo on point! That split pea soup was also great... almost perfect! It had the exact texture this soup should have and the flavor was very nice. For my entrée I saw a few of the halibut as I was walking through the dining room, so that is what I chose. The halibut came out looking great! It was PERFECTLY prepared too!! The flavors were spot-on, and the accompanying veggies were great too. We were enjoying dinner so much that we didn't want it to end, even though we were full... so, we ordered desserts too. I opted for the banana cream pie, as this is another item I rarely see on a menu and when I do, it's rarely done right, but not here... they did it perfectly! Overall, amazing meal... He didn't seem too happy with that response and walked away. As intended, I sat at the bar and ordered wings and truffle fries. I recognize menus change, but I'm guessing the chef changed as well. So many items are called the same name as they were on the previous menu yet they are not same, like a shadow of its predecessor. I will say the cowboy steak was amazingly prepared and delicious. If I was reviewing that alone it'd be a 5 star review. Our waitress was nice but I definitely got the feeling of disappointment when we didn't order appetizers, we prefer to order extra sides and drinks which more than make up that in the end. Just some people don't and it sucks to feel like you're not a table worth waiting on. The saddest experience was the dessert. The sticky toffee dessert was my favorite thing in the world. It was fabulous. It's still on the menu, but it is not the same dessert by any stretch of the imagination. It now tastes like someone cut the bran muffin in half and poured some sugary sweetness on it and then served it with clotted cream that was not tasty. It used to be a tiny dessert that came with ice cream. It was so rich and was beyond delicious. It is actually a challenging dessert to make, so I'm guessing they've changed to this new version to save time but honestly they should just take it off the menu if you're not going to do it properly. If that plate was served on Top Chef and they would've crucified the chef as it looked and tasted horrible. I'm sure we will go again in the future but I left with a tinge of sadness that they changed a historic restaurant so much.
