This is a review for the restaurant patio area. Stunning view and very friendly service for drinks and apps. They also validate parking if you're just stopping in.

This property is very beautiful. The staff are attentive and very friendly. The grounds are stunning as well. We had a bay view room which was amazing. But unfortunately the room wasn't very clean. I mean obviously it was 'clean' but stains on the carpet, gross spills on the walls (especially near the trashcan) and the ottoman at the end of the bed was torn. Just not what you would expect from a $500 + a night stay. I was disappointed in the condition of the room. With that said overall we had a nice stay and would come back again. It was nice having our dog with us as well so that was definitely a plus. Just wanted to share our experience!

Varied experience. As a family, its pretty good. The kid zone is excellent. It's a bit of a walk from the lobby but it's worth it. Our 2 kids, 3 and 6 were glabber blasted when they walked in. Millions of toys, crayons, etc, and a stable trust worthy supervisor. The rest is okay, they have preference to certain races, ages, and genders. My parents (white) got their room before checkin. My wife and I, (I'm Filipino) did not get privilage to our room even though we showed up at the same time and our rooms were side by side. My daughter, (3) got in my wife's boots and stomped around for 3 minutes at 8:00pm. We recieved a call with a complaint. Security guards showed up at our room. They knocked I said ya, I got it, then we got a call from the front desk reguarding to us partying. We also did not recieve the water I called and asked for. I went down there and asked where I can buy a water they said "do you even know what room you're in?" No, I dont, because I have two kids, toddlers. We make over $500k but we like being treated like we're babies. The view of SF is solid.

Claremont Resort & Club exceeded my expectations. The grounds are stunning, the rooms are elegant and comfortable, and the staff delivers exceptional service at every turn. The spa, tennis courts, and amenities make the stay feel truly luxurious. A perfect blend of relaxation, history, and world-class hospitality. Anthonyxibarrax

I come here mainly for the cocktails and for the relaxing atmosphere and views. Great cocktails made from Juan by the front desk bar. Go check him out!

Beautiful place and gorgeous interior. Parking was tight and super busy. Came and tried the food. Steak and fish were ok.

"NY Strip steak frites" $50 before mandatory $22 surcharge.

Showed up here to check in for my reservation that had been confirmed for two months. Upon arrival the manager said they couldn't find my reservation and didn't have my contact information to reach out to me. Both blatant lies. I got "walked" to a lesser hotel because the management here decided to not honor guests' reservations in favor of a last minute event/room booking for Hasidic Jews. The room service food here is also the worst food I've ever tasted in my life. The "NY strip steak frites" was the cheapest quality meat I've ever seen, with no sear whatsoever. The myoglobin from the beef seeped out and pooled at the bottom of the food, mixing with the sauce making the whole dish look disgusting. Do not stay at this place, you will not feel comfortable or welcome at all.

The team was well prepared for our group of 100+ to stay and have a two day meeting, with rooms, parking and meals. The location is beautiful and overlooks the Bay, with fine dining on site, and comfortable rooms. The beds are firm, comfortable and the temperature control made it a cozy stay. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the Limewood restaurant and both meals were flavorful, fresh and generous portions. Highly recommend this as work or play stay!

We enjoyed the amazing decor for graduation!

We stayed at the Claremont Resort this past weekend and we loved our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted immediately by Valet, checked in and made our way to our room with was lovely. Amazing view of the bay and the property. A dessert tray was delivered which we enjoyed immediately. Spacious room, lovely personal note welcoming us for our daughter's graduation from UC Berkeley. We enjoyed room service twice and it was delivered perfectly, warm and lots of options. We then dined at the restaurant for a celebratory dinner and the experience was 5 star from service to food, everything was perfect! We will definitely be back for another stay in the very near future. Thank you, Sheana & Ben

I stayed here for a work event during a heat wave and I was excited to check out the three pools that is one their signature amenities. I checked in at 4pm on a Friday and found the pool to be packed with people. The lap pool where I hoped to get some exercise was reserved for the UC Berkeley swim team. It seems the pool is open to the public which is great, but not great for hotel guests. The water was murky likely from all the dead skin cells and children peeing in the pool. The view from the bedroom was a shingled roof, and the iron left black streaks on my white shirt. Everything else however, was outstanding. The service was tremendous, including the manager, who gave me a $50 credit for the stained shirt. The food served was also delicious and the views around the hotel were fabulous. Overall, I would recommend never staying in the hotel. It was about $350 plus a $25 resort fee and another $35 for parking. I find that to be sort of expensive for a view of a shingled roof from the bedroom and a murky pool.

The hotel itself is beautiful and well decorated - there are lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Rooms are small but remodeled, quite a bit of scuffs on walls though. Bathroom is tiny but functional with high end finishes. The property is 19th century so of course the musty smell follows you but is not overwhelming. Lovely gym, decent pool although outside and cold (also - open to the public so prepare for lap swimmers and loud kids). Ongoing construction was loud and unsightly. My bathroom was missing the shower gel, which was never replenished during my stay. In the morning housekeeping came in at 7:30am without announcing herself while I was getting dressed after my shower

Unfortunately the ice wasn't in cubes so the flavor was so watered down that I couldn't taste the gin at all...We then were served some great little warm breads with delicious butter YUM! The split mixed iceburg lettuce salad arrived which was a generous portion & well dressed with some notes of tarragon ..nice! John ordered the braised short rib & he subbed out the mashed potato/roquefort for the fried potato disks that came with the rib eye. Good spuds! My beef bourguignon had wonderful toothsome wide egg noodles but weirdly, chunks of green pepper & undercooked pearl onions? The beefy gravy was perfect on the pasta BUT the beef's texture was terrible.. mushy without a smidgen of bite! YUCK! When John had me taste his beef the resuts were much the same... too soft & textureless.. then the opposite...the pretty split carrot halves were too hard & undercooked on his plate to bring out their sweetness....I assume these 2 long cooked meats styles had been sitting for god knows how long I left most of the dinner to take home & see if I could repair the dish... (I'll probably eat the noodles and use the beef in a taco?). so my suggestion is to order the rack of lamb (if I return....which John had had & recommended) & stay away from long cooked items (except beans)

To be fair, I tried to stay understanding and keep a positive attitude during the stay. At checkout, I was told management would work with me to make things right and that I should follow up with the General Manager. Unfortunately, after four emails, multiple follow-up attempts, and two weeks of waiting, I have received no meaningful response from management. Mistakes can happen in hospitality, but ignoring a guest after promising a resolution is disappointing, especially when a premium room was booked specifically for its advertised features. I'm leaving this review mainly because the lack of communication and accountability after the stay has been far more frustrating than the original issue itself.

For those leaving negative reviews, this is a case of getting what you pay for. The biggest plus was the location, an easy walk to campus. The staff were also very accommodating, allowing me to check in early and holding my luggage for a few hours after checkout, which made a big difference. That said, it's more of a hostel-style setup. My room had a shared bathroom, the water pressure was weak, and the mini fridge was noisy enough to keep me up at night. The walls are also quite thin, so you can hear neighboring rooms. Would I stay here again? Yes, mainly for the convenience. Next time, I'd just plan ahead and book a room with a private bathroom.

The bed was comfy. Cool decor in the room. Booked with Hilton points, so only cost me $68 for parking and taxes. Cons: Most ridiculous bathroom sink ever. With a faucet that was too big for the tiny (8"x12" maybe) sink. You could not wash your hands without getting water everywhere, and washing your face meant soaking most of the bathroom. We took an overnight family vacation over Labor Day weekend to celebrate Mom/Grandma's birthday…read more(three rooms, all featuring beautiful marina views). The Good: Scenic Views: Incredible views of the Berkeley Marina, San Francisco Bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. The marina-view room was well worth the upgrade over the courtyard view. Location & Outdoor Access: Beautiful walking trails directly outside around the marina, perfect for scenic walks. The kids enjoyed the nearby park (swings, slides, monkey bars), though the Berkeley Adventure Playground was unfortunately closed for the holiday. Housekeeping Staff: The housekeeping staff was the highlight of our stay. Every member I encountered was remarkably warm, welcoming, and helpful. Family-Friendly Amenities: The kids loved the indoor pool and hot tub, and the property also features a sauna, a fitness center, and outdoor games (Cornhole) in the courtyard. 12:00 PM Check-Out: The noon check-out allowed us enough time to enjoy a morning walk and a swim before leaving. The Bad: Frustrating & Stressful Check-In: The front desk's handling of a third-party booking issue was remarkably poor. My mother booked through Expedia since it was cheaper than booking directly, which is disappointing for a Hilton Rewards member (hotels should offer the best prices directly to guests). Instead of addressing the issue immediately, staff sent my elderly mother to her room without a resolution. This resulted in multiple calls and transfers, an unanswered front desk line, and a walk back downstairs and three buildings over to handle it in person. The ordeal took nearly an hour and required speaking with a manager, ultimately leaving my mother in tears and setting an unwelcoming tone at the start of the trip. When I asked why front desk staff aren't empowered to help guests immediately with welcoming solutions, the manager offered little explanation beyond needing approval and looking visibly embarrassed. When I followed up to ask why staff didn't just ask for that approval immediately rather than sending us on a wild-goose chase for an hour, I was met with a simple shrug. Unwelcoming Room Greeting: Following the check-in ordeal, the arrival note in our room addressed to "Dear Valued Guest" focused immediately on quiet hours and no-party policies, rather than a genuine welcome, making us feel regulated rather than valued. Small Double Beds: Two-bed rooms featured full-size beds rather than queens, which felt cramped. Pool Area Maintenance & Layout: Severe lack of seating (only 8 seats for roughly 30 guests), leaving families to place belongings on wet floors. The pool ran out of towels the next morning, and the house phone in the pool area to request more was out of order. Exorbitant Parking Fees: Self-parking is $45/day ($47 for valet), which adds up drastically when traveling with multiple vehicles. Extreme Price Gouging: A small lobby market purchase (3 bottles of water and 1 Gatorade) came out to $48.50. While the cashier was sweet and apologized for the prices, the markup felt unreasonable. Final Thoughts: I would stay here again mainly for the beautiful location if the price was right, though I now know to bring my own food/beverages and manage expectations regarding service. While this property is listed as a 4-star hotel based on its amenities, and I believe any hotel has the potential to deliver 5-star service, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina ultimately operated like a 3-star hotel with 2-star service during our stay.

The host at the restaurant was unfriendly to the point where I almost walked away, although I will say that the waitress I had was very kind. I requested housekeeping multiple times during my stay. I was later told it was not completed because my "Do Not Disturb" sign was up during cleaning hours. However, during previous stays at this hotel, staff still knocked on my door to ask when they could return to clean the room, which made this explanation extremely frustrating. On two separate occasions, front desk staff told me directly that my room would be cleaned, and it never was. One front desk employee was dismissive and spoke to me with an attitude that made me feel disrespected. To make matters worse, the hotel uses automated text messages sent from "Glenda." I responded around 11:30 AM requesting housekeeping because I had work calls scheduled. I left my room for a period of time, returned to find it untouched, and later received another text stating they were unable to clean my room due to a high volume of rooms. This contradicted what I had been told earlier and was extremely disappointing. The room itself is in serious need of updates. The walls are extremely thin--I could hear doors slamming, people yelling, and even the person in the next room using the bathroom. The lack of soundproofing made it impossible to rest or work. For someone staying away from home, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. I ultimately checked out early and went straight home.
