Very few candy and cake supply specific shops on the area. The store area has changed in size a bit but still has an okay inventory. I make a stop when I am looking for particular items I need for desserts. I haven't tried out their other services but staff are helpful and nice when I'm instore. read more

All I can say is I that I love everything about this little gem. I went in here a few days ago to buy supplies to bake a Spider-Man cake for my sons 2nd birthday. I had no idea what I wanted to make and the sweet older lady (I'm so sorry I didn't really catch any names) was SO helpful and sweet! I purchased a few items with her help and then I wanted to print a picture of some skylines and the tall lady with glasses helped me out. I was gonna make my first ever fondant cake and she explained how to go about it and it made me so much more confident to execute it after speaking to her. The next day I realized I forgot to purchase a few things so I went back and it was a little more busy in there but I still got the same kind help as the day before. After I checked out I forgot to pay for the cake box and the round cake stand that was still on the counter so I went back inside and stood in line to purchase it where the sweet older lady saw me and gave it to me and told me to get her back next time! Ordered a cake over a week ago, where I showed the picture of what I wanted in person to Nancy when I ordered the cake & then also attached it to the email of the image I wanted on the cake. My husband picked up the cake & it was not the color that was in the photo.(again, that they had for reference) the gold letters also looked like they were painted by a toddler. When he complained about the color & asked for them to change the color, she then started claiming I was accusing her of God knows what & that I never showed her the picture ( please review cameras if you have them, I showed it multiple times). I didn't know I had to specify to a "professional" baker how to follow an inspo picture. Then she started using foul language & was very disrespectful, so I asked for a refund for a cake I was not satisfied with, as anyone would. She then got more rude & disrespectful. I hate doing this because the ladies in the store seem nice, but I had the worst experience here. I ordered a cake for my birthday here. They used 'edible paper' for the writing which was just thrown on there and looked like a band aide. The frosting skirt design that we requested and gave a picture reference for was missing. The cake was dry, hard, and tasted old. It was just terrible. But worst of all, when I bit into the cake I thought i bit into a nail but instead saw CHUNKS of HARD WAXY material in my slice. This review is for the classes ONLY. My friend mentioned she was taking a chocolate making class and asked if I was interested.. Sure, why not? Chocolate sounded fun, especially since I was promised I could take it home and eat it! :D So I made some chocolate and I had fun! I even ended up buying some supplies to make my own chocolate treats at home for the holidays. That was back in December of 2012. I subscribed to their emails and saw a cookie decorating class was coming up. My friend said she wanted to go so she signed us up. It was $45 and all you needed to do was show up with an apron. I didn't mind channeling my inner Betty Crocker for the evening, especially since I got to put my cute apron to use! The class was from 7p and ran until a little after 10p - we were making some serious cookies. The instructors are great. Older ladies that keep it real. They first demonstrate a few items and how to decorate all the while giving you little tips here and there, then you're off to find the Picasso in you and create your own masterpiece. This cycle happens about 3xs and it's a lot of fun in between. At the end they box your little treasures for you to take home and proudly show off to your loved ones or stash away for your own delight. The two classes I've been to have always been full and they're really small, usually 8-10 people I think... and not that it matters, but it's usually older white women, lol. My friend and I have been the only younger (non-white) participants. That doesn't really matter, just trying to paint a picture so you know what to expect. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and you do pick up a lot of simple, easy tid-bits about baking and decorating. If you like baking or an avid arts and crafts person, I think you would appreciate taking a class here at Clarice's and find it worth your while. Great to bond and hang out with your sister, girlfriend, mom, etc There shop itself is small but houses a ton of baking items, etc to make you swoon, regardless if you're a rookie like me or a real baking pro.
