Best Cupcakes, best wedding cakes (my wife and I have now used Cake Goodness for both). It's pricey but worth it (this is not a Portos or Costco cake, their cakes are works of art). My (then fiance') and I went to several places and we had an exact idea of what we wanted. Everyone we talked to either said "no, you can't really do that" or frowned and explained that it was going to be a problem. The only one willing to put in a bid took nearly a week to give us a price and said "not really 100% sure I can guarantee how this is going to turn out." We finally went in to Cake Goodness. The lady who runs the place sat down with us and just kept telling us how she would accomplish it. She then pulled out a sketch pad and sketched what we wanted and adjusted the sketch based on our comments. She then gave us a price. She then made the cake and it was an amazing PIRATE SHIP CAKE. This cake was black and white with a pirate ship sketched onto the side of its four tiers, with black and burgandy feathers and flowers. It was WICKED. Our florist also made a comment that she would like to know who the cake artisan was as she was very impressed with how professional and easy she was to work with when they were setting up the cake and flowers together. You will pay a bit more, you will get way way more. If it has to be amazing, then Cake Goodness. If it just has to be a generic wedding cake, not the place for that. read more

The first time I came here was for my nephew's 16th birthday cake. We had a meeting and they were so helpful with forming our ideas into a cake. I went to Cake Goodness on Aug 5th (a Friday)... tasted cakes for my upcoming wedding - loved them all! That's where the "goodness" ended. I was promised a sample invoice by the next Tuesday - I wanted to book them for the wedding! NO invoice. I called by the end of that week. Voice mail full. I then went on their website to submit an email to them. NO response. I called again the following week and actually talked to someone and got the feeling they had no idea who I was, but explained that their invoice person/secretary (whatever) was a bit behind and I would have it within the following week. The following week... NO invoice. I called again and was actually able to leave a voice mail. NO call back to date. NO invoice to date. I'm so happy I didn't book them for my wedding! Overall the cake is good but if they can't even return an email and several phone calls, I wouldn't trust them with my wedding cake. read more

I have used this place for a couple of birthdays for the kids. I have tried their cakes as well as their cupcakes, cake pops and sometimes they have cookies. Here it goes: Cakes: beautifully decorated and you can work with them to get your theme aka design perfected. The cake itself was okay on taste and really dense but overall was devoured by the kids. Cupcakes: not my favorite as they are way to dense but frosting is good. I've tried a handful of flavors they had to offer. I always like to get a regular vanilla or chocolate to see how they do their thing but again really dense. We have ordered cakes here since then from birthdays, graduations,and baby showers all ranging between $450-$850 (not cheap) the last cake we ordered was a special order...a Harry Potter castle! We have never question Melinda's prices or her vision for our orders she had our complete trust! When our last cake was delivered ($850.00) cake....we thought it would be this huge castle! Instead we got a 10inch cake with Rice crispy in some places instead of cake as was not discuss with us that she had to use rice crispy because of the design... We were to say the least VERY Disappointed!!! We called the store and made an appointment to speak to Melinda about what our concerns were....She basically said "This is my lively hood and I put my soul in making this cake, I can refund you $50.00 for using rice crispy and not cake but that's all I'm able to do".. Really??!!! After buying more than 5 cakes from her and being a good customer for the past 2yrs that's all you are able to do??? We had a wedding order for this Halloween and to that order; she said, "I think you would be happier if you go somewhere else." WOW!! Not very good customer service.. She won't stay in Business with that kind of attitude towards paying customers which GIVES her her livelihood ... We did get our deposit back and now we are taking our service elsewhere!!! read more

After experiencing a couple of disappointing cupcake shops in the SCV, I was a little bit leery of trying one more. I came here because at least the baker/owner had some street cred. A former baker to the stars in Central California, I figured maybe, just maybe this place would be different. Turns out, it is. It's not a true cupcake place. They do regular cakes and even some unique cookies. There aren't that many cupcakes varieties on the menu by comparison to the other ones. But oh, what cakes. I split a couple on Valentine's Day with my girlfriend and we first tried the Red Velvet Cake Pop shaped like a pink heart for Valentine's. Too cute to pass up. When we split it in half, at first it looked too chocolaty to be Red Velvet but it wasn't that chocolaty and probably more red velvet like, minus the cream cheese frosting. The cupcake we tried was a Party Time cupcake which was a vanilla cake with vanilla and white chocolate buttercream. I was a little hesitant to purchase this since my girlfriend dislikes white chocolate. But there wasn't much except on the sides. So I took a gamble on it. Good call, the cake was moist and the frosting? Addictive. The cakes themselves were packaged in a beautiful white bag with purple parchment paper inside of it. Luxurious! The only bad thing was how the packaged it. The cake pop was fine but the cupcake might as well been thrown in because it came out a bit smushed. We actually had to adjust it a bit in it's container to get it somewhat close to how it was originally placed in. But would that stop me from coming back? Absolutely not! Return trips will be in order and if it wasn't for the fact there aren't enough daily flavor options, this would topple Cupcake Tree as the best in the SCV. read more

I planned a birthday party with 120 guests for my two daughters and totally forgot to order a cake for their party on Saturday 12.03.11. I walked in on 11.30.11 late in the afternoon after finding this local shop on Yelp and was greeted by Melinda. I was given a complimentary sample of this 7 layer yummy cupcake and I just knew this was the place I wanted to order from! As a busy mother of five I was very embarrassed and explained my dilemma of totally overlooking ordering a cake in advance. Thankfully it was not a problem. As I was talking with Melinda I could tell she was very creative and passionate about what she does. She immediately came up with this amazing presentation and was so excited, she explained her ideas to go along with my theme then I got excited and could not wait to see everything on Saturday. She assured me not to worry and she will take care of everything. I received via email and text right away a very detailed proposal of her creation for my daughter's party. Then as promised she came with her assistant two hours before the party started. Then her magic began... Melinda literally set up a "SWEET SHOPPE" for their party on a 6 foot table complete with a fabric back drop, banners, custom painted frames hanging over the table with the first letter of each of my daughter's name, this unbelievable cake for 50, individual cake pops, red velvet cake shots, cake ice cream cones, sugar cookies, cup cakes, rice crispy treats dipped in pink chocolate, large round pink and white lollypops, pink and white salt water taffy, red and white gummy bears and pink gum balls. All of the candy was in different size apothecary jars, everything was labeled with ribbon and custom matching tags. It was so beautiful, memorizing for the children and beyond what I expected. My daughters were just speechless and so excited. All of the children just went crazy for the self serve "Sweet Shoppe" that Melinda created. My friends were very impressed with not only the presentation but everything was absolutely delicious. The sugar cookies were very nostalgic for me and tasted just like the ones my mom used to bake when I was a child. No diets were followed on Saturday and everyone indulged sampling everything. As a business owner in a service industry I am very critical of the overall experience from start to finish. Melinda you and your team are just amazing! I chose the Lemon with Berries cupcake and it is the best cupcake!!! Moist, not too sweet, perfect ratio of cake to frosting and bursting with amazing flavor. As a wedding photographer we now work together on a regular basis and I see so many amazing cakes and dessert bars come out of that shop! I eat wedding cake basically every weekend and their cake is BY FAR the best tasting and SUPER moist :) During Girl Scout cookie season, they make the best cupcakes ever! I'm not big on doing the review thing, but I was SO happy, that I had to do a review for the AMAZING job that Cakegoodness did on my daughter's Alice In Wonderland cake. Everyone was awed by the work on this beautiful cake. It was hard to cut, because it was so pretty!! Usually, when you order an "elaborate" cake, you can forget about the taste, You usually give up good tasting cake for the looks, but this wasn't the case AT ALL. It tasted as wonderful as it looked. Fifteen 12 year old girls agreed, as well as the adults!!! Thank you, Melinda for the beautiful cake. My daughter was so ecstatic over it and it made the party all the more special. Ok update time. So I got a very nice email from Cake Goodness, saying that their cookie sizes are normally bigger than the ones I saw. I came into the shop soon after. The cookies were indeed bigger, yet no longer cute. When I had purchased the cookies before, my favorite thing about them was their cute size. A great sweet to pop in the mouth. But I think it's better business sense to make products bigger for more money, than smaller for less money. And, it would be so great if there could be some vegan cupcakes. If you are reading this Cake Goodness, please make vegan cupcakes. For the lactose intolerant you would be a godsend. You are already pretty much the best cupcake place in the Valencia/Newhall area. The only other vegan cupcake place in this area ONLY caters. No walk in's. Lactose intolerant people want to pay 3 bucks for fancy cupcakes too. First off the desserts made by CakeGoodness are JUST out of this world. They are STUNNING. I had a dessert bar and cake made for my wedding day and it was an absolute hit! Everything tasted great! My cake was gluten free and honestly, no one knew it was even gluten free because that's how good it was. The by far my favorite bakery. While looking for a wedding cake, my husband and I found Melinda online sometime in early 2000. I believe it was before she opened her bakery. We met her in a Starbucks and fell in love with her work. Her sweet and cherry personality just made working with her that much better. Unfortunately at the time my husband postponed our wedding. When we finally got married in 2013, we already knew that we had to get our cake from Melinda at Cake Goodness. She actually remembered us from our original meeting with her. I stopped here one day because the name "Cake Goodness" implied that they had cake. I'm cool with cupcakes but that's not really what I was looking for. No where on the front does it mention that there is no cake, only cupcakes. Ehh, moving on.... We came during Girl Scout cookie season and even though our living room was completely full of Girl Scout cookies, we ended up getting Girl Scout cookie cupcakes. Part of me is like "Wow, we have a problem" but I don't really eat the cookies so I almost just feel like there weren't enough to choose from. The cupcakes were really good. The frosting to cake ratio surpassed adequate. I'm never going to complain about frosting. I don't know that I would say "Best cupcakes ever" but I would for sure give them an A. We also got two cake pops. They suspiciously tasted like Betty Crocker. That doesn't really matter to me. I enjoy Betty Crocker and most people do. They were really good. Parking the back... The place itself is very dark... Then the display of cupcakes was horrible... they looked melted and old...Like they let them sit there for days....
